  1. No wonder you sounded a little stressed when I spoke to you Saturday! Least you didn't have a 5hr trip to cover 70 miles!
  2. Wrong Direction.... 13's is where it's at!  God-dam Aweful Sized Hoops
  3. Woh Andy, have a chat with some of the other local specialist you've contacted see if they can supply the parts cheaper. I personally wouldn't be giving this buch of barstewards any more of my money. :bad-words: As to the Court thing, keep all the parts and keep on with the claim regardless. Chin up geezer... will get sorted.
  4. Aye sounds like a strimmer in my lap-top! Great work though!
  5. Found a local VAG place so will call them tomorrow and see what they can do re exhuast gas and pressure testing... Just need to keep a real close eye on the water level, get a new top hose and expasion bottle/cap as you can't see the level in mine...
  6. Think there's a switch or something to stop the motor overloading.. like eletric windows... could be that?
  7. Paid £1.2 for a 3 owner 92k 2.016v and that was when pices were better... I'd go on a grand tops... Try rining another dealer, saying you'd like an Eos and have a Rado to trade in see what they offer! ;) may give you a base line... They will have priced off Glasess plus a bit so probably not much more than that!
  8. Good news! Just back from a run and am sweating! So the heaters work and seems to sit at 90 again!
  9. Hi Dave, No Mayo or white smoke (Josh followed me yesterday to check). No obvious, leaks either, ran car last night with card under it and came out dry! Fan comes on ok too just the spike on the oil temp... Water temp sits at 110 rather than the 90 it did before... Have topped up again, ran without cap till the water came up (heater cold agan today?), switched off, cap on. Letting it cool and will top up and give it a run... see if that helps. Followed the usual when I replaced top hose, filled slowly from expansion tank, ran up to temp, let ot cool a bit, added water, gave it a run (20miles) and then cooled/topped again and ran up with no cap till bubbled up. Switched off, cap on cooled topped off.... Guess if this run doesn't sort it then book it in somewhere local and get water tested for exhaust gas and pressure test system?
  10. EDIT Just put ANOTHER litre of water in it???
  11. Hi all, Am completely mystified by this one. Had a split Rad top hose yesterday afternoon so as an emergancy repair (happened at 5pm) I've used a cut-down mk2 golf 8v hose. Problem I now have is that on the way home (70 miles) I've filled it with over 6 litres of aditional water after being filled (including that lost when letting the car warm and trying to clear the airlock by letting the expansion take "Volcano") and water tepms pegged at 110 (sat at 90 before) and oil temps seems to be 126-8 (before 118-122 were normal). The aformentioned airlock (Cold heater matrix) seemed to be sorted by driving it back on the motorway, however I did also see a spike on oil temp of 140! but was in roadworks traffic and couldn't pull over, it dropped like this once rolling agian: 140-136-132-130-128 (was only at 140 for maybe 30 secs). I'm hoping that was the airlock from the matrix making its way through the oil cooler... So I'm confused as to whats going on... Mariojosh was a complete star last night spending 3 hrs head scratching over apparently dissapearing water as the thing took 4l just stood with out brewing over the expansion tank after a 30 miles trip. You're owed several beers sir. There's no obvious leaks and no white smoke/mayo so I'm mystified... Am I going to have to go through the same routine again when I replace the top hose for the right one? What could cause the temps to suddenly decide to be a good 20 up (water) and 8-10 up (oil)??? More to the point I'm worried that when I hit traffic again (Live in London so ineviatble) I'll spike the oil temp again! :( Help! I need to have this running properly and problem free for tonight as I'm supposed to pick she who must be obeyed yup from the airport.... So if anyone near E5 (city Aiport) has either some tinkering time or a 16v rad hose, I'd appreciate it by walking to the local supermarket and getting beers!
  12. There's a special chemical test that can prove if there was (the proper) grease on it. Apparently 100% reliable... Or so I've been told... Have you (or any-one else) ever heard of a properly installed bearing fail after 5 miles? To the extent that there's NO trace of grease on the componants... Been to see Andy's car, and there's traces of grease on the OK side and none on the stub-axel or what little is left of the bearings on the Buggered side. Just can't believe that THE TT SHOP won't admit that they fooked up, could have all been fixed weeks ago, and kept Andy as a happy customer... now they're probably going to end up with a court summons! :bad-words: Just to give a time frame thios has been dragging on for FOUR WEEKS now... how would any of you feel about that? Esp as the had it for 2-3weeks doing the "work".
  13. Andy, we both know the owner's a :hitler: :bad-words: Pay for all the parts they fooked and they'll only charge an hour's labour! :censored: :cuckoo: So maybe he'll only listen to a Court threat? If you still have all the parts then get them to an independant Expert (sure you can find one of those nearby! ;) ), also see if Darren will help you out here too, and then have at them! Time to name and shame mate.. been going on too long! You're just lucky you have another car to use...
  14. Mate you need to clean your buckets then!
  15. Another Pearl Ghey Rado by the looks of things! Wierd those A3 alloys suit the car, didn't really rate them on the A3, but the RX's will look loads better. If you have the slider heater controls (should have in an early interior) then it's probably a Cable come undone. For the Lock Barrel issues there's a guide to re-tumbling locks on the Wiki somehwere too! Nice buy there Sean. If you need a local mechanic (from the sounds of thing maybe you don't) try Cris over at Birks Motors in Chinnor Can't recommend him enough (you may see him about in Bicester in either: Met Grey GTi'd Mk1-Caddy, Yellow/Grey Splitie, or a Satin-Black 50's Buick Sled on Hyrdraulics) did all my cars for the last 10yrs (till I moved to London).
  16. Rob, like I said yesterday, just after Bonus Time will get you down to do mine, also see if you can do anything with a couple scratches picked up recently (like Wed, flipping kids on holiday!). I not sure I want to know but what was that all over Dels bonnet? Looks like smeared on rabbit poo, was he trying to test your detailing skills?
  17. Welcome to the Busted Chin Spiler club mate! Looks better lowered... Ride any better/worse than on the Neuspeed?
  18. Wasn't tht interior in a Rallye?
  19. Its even better in the metal :notworthy: Euro-monkey!
  20. Porker Magenta FTW... as used on a lot of 80's looker beetles...
  21. Cheers mate, watch this space on the wheels  Have you STILL not got them done Mic!
  22. There she is! In the background! I'm surprised a certain mod's not bid on this yet..
  23. Bilt Armor (?) do a clay that's water compatable... must have a built in lube..... well rated too! Shampoo, I use Megs Gold Class, seems to work well. Inbetween the lime/wax stage I'd add a polish and sealer of some sort (SRP & EGP work) just to up the finished shine a bit!
