  1. Well there's the basics.. check Dizzy cap/Rotor arm/plugs.. Does it run ok when you get it going? Is it a VR6/16v/G60?
  2. Off you go then interested to see how the carpets come out! ;)
  3. If only that easy too! We'd all be driving them!
  4. £217 EX VAT! for a 9a ISV! £25.00 PER LEAD for plug leads and no4 doesn't have knock sensor on it!
  5. Have you tried squirting some form of Liquid Lube down the cable preferably PTFE based? Used to get this with the old Air-cooleds and the cables on them are LONG! This was a regular maintenance thing (every year just before winter)
  6. Nice work there! What was the original colour? Looks like a Metallic Green!
  7. The cause of my running problems.. and I'd just done about 700+ Miles last week too! TBH I'm surprised it even started, let alone pretty much on the 3/4 crank! The metal contact was 1/4 way back down the arm!
  8. And I believe that like I believed the "I'm not getting shot of this one" line! So votes for what color will Gav go for next?
  9. Well running issues are fixed for the princly sum of £14! It was a destroyed Rotor arm so changed that and the Dizzy cap! Will post a photo of the arm when I get my d/load cable sorted. Looking at it I can understand why it was Cr@p under 3000rpm.. there was only 1/2 the metal left on the whole arm! So All I need is an un-cracked 9a manifold now.
  10. Pullies could give 5bhp, they do affect performance of Air-cooled flat-4's But really 5 brake on a VR would you notice it without getting it onto rollers? Erm No...
  11. Jesus Gav.. Thought I was bad having 7 at one time.. Ok Time to Rack the old Grey Matter.. Most Letters are suffix -(Year Reg) Prefix letters are (year Reg)- E- Renault 5 GTS -N(75) Beetle in Apple Green! 12. Mate had a set on his Caddy.. apparently quite desirable in some quarters.. and only in a 14" fitment.. although there are rumours of both a 15" and split versions! Oh and the caps are the same alloy as well so can be fully polished! You could always detail them as Pudsey and run them once a year!
  13. Can you get hold of a VAX or if not rent a small carpet shampoo machine... you'll be amazed at what crap comes out! Just make sure you dry it between shampooings.. Used that on an old Golf Cab's carpets and the went from Black to Navy! Was quite surprised!
  14. Have seen a really "expensive" plate on something really cruddy.. a Lada! But was in Middle of London.. so could be a "Plate mule*" until his/hers Lambo/Ferrari/Roller/Porsche etc turned up? * All plate transfers have to be from and to "roadworthy" cars don't they? I.e. MOT/TAX/INS??
  15. He's Cornish! Karl.. do it esp as they are 8/9's
  16. Nah Gav's beyond help! Should have bought my Cabbie mate! Broken the chain! ;) Welcome back (well it's not really like you left did you!)
  17. Cheers Jim would be good.... Your ISV was off a 16v Audi 80 wasn't it?
  18. Gonna get my mate to attack it with a welder at the weekend, and hope it holds till I can get a tubular replacement.. Now any-one got a 9a ISV they want shot of? I looked at mine and think it may be buggered as the rubber mount has snapped allowing it to just rattle about..
  19. Hi Jim, Back in the office at last! No, I was thinking if you have already done this it may help me and the others (like you) who need some 9a "diagnosis" sensors to see if they cure their running problems... I was going to say if we can get the prices/ referance numbers up I "May" order a couple of full engine sets and then pass on what I don't use to others to help with running issues and the fact that VAG seem to think the UK's paved with gold! BTW I rang the stealers up for a 9a ISV price recently and the poarts guy said.. "Are you sat down? Well you may want to sit on the floor!" ... Fekkin £221.00 EX VAT! Boglocks...
  20. Update is the noise id a cracked Manifold on the join between 1&4 collectors.. any-one got a cheap fix?
  21. Nice pics, but where in town was the speed-hump? Cheers for yesterday, I think Santa will be brining a shiny trolley jack for you soon!
  22. Sounds like sunroof drain channels come adrift... Simple fix just get teh sunroof repair guide from the Wiki..
  23. Jim, can you price up a full set of sensors? Oilx2 Waterx2 Timer etc.. see what they come to, could be a cheapo diagnosis buy..
