  1. Love it! All part of the fun as I see it now! More of a soap than a sport!
  2. Why! :confused4: Too much money and too much time on their hands, that's why!
  3. Just been out with a G-Tech and managed a [email protected] 1/8 of a mile with a 60ft in 2.335, 330ft in 6.284 with a 0-60 in 5.88 seconds. Here's the excuses - 10 gallons on board and found it hard to find a decent road with traction. And it was all legal as I didn't break the speed limit! Much Anyway!
  4. I did a 15.12 time not including reaction time last year at the spring festival with half a tank of fuel and full interior, no spare though! That was on my first run, I couldn't get close to that on the subsequent 2 runs which were 15.3 and 15.5. Hoping to do marginally better this year. Those times are for a G60 on a stock charger 65mm pulley, chip and Golf FMIC, and full stainless ex system+manifold. Diesel gearbox helped with traction and the 1/8 mile time! I've managed a G-Tech time of 14.7 (less than gallon of fuel, car weighed 1115kg) with a 0-60 of 5.9 secs. Unfortunately you don't get a 0-60 time at the pod, unless you take a G-Tech with you! :) If I can get in the 14 seconds consistently I'll be happy with the new setup. I will have a 2nd Cylinder Head in the boot this time! But still the same fuel level. Should be interesting. :dorky:
  5. I'm going to stick to one team, so I've got Hamilton and sacrificed everything else to get/afford him. I take it Massa is as expensive?
  6. I don't think anyone else is reading this! I got Hamilton 'n' 'am gonna kick both yo' mo'f*cken ass's to the kurb, b*tches! Bloody hell that was a nightmare sentence to punctuate! :D
  7. That write up is bang on, I bet the guy who wrote it has owned one at some point. Just got my G60 back on the road today after having 4 MONTHS off!! Christ my Audi 90 was driving me nuts whilst I was driving it everywhere. Such a relief to be back in a car that you can really have some fun in. I'll never sell mine now, after experiencing my 4 month break. :salute:
  8. I'm sure if the points system was different to what it was last year the teams and their drivers would of driven and reacted accordingly. Let's not forget that Massa had a lot of wins handed to him on a plate iirc! Don't ask me to substantiate that statement, by the way.
  9. I'm considering a rear ARB to reduce roll and get the front end turning in quicker. Probably go for a mild Neuspeed item. I have all new (2 year old) suspension and bushes all round laser alined with eagle F1'a but would just like a little more balance in corners and less roll.
  10. Isn't Jenson Button's primary career male modeling!?!
  11. Well I can see both sides of this. I like driving as quick as anyone but I also like hacking horses out and bike riding with my kids so..... I don't think all single lane roads should be 50mph but some country lanes that are 60mph are dangerous. There is a road by us called the Hightown Bends, it's national speed limit but there is about one or two stretches that you can do 60mph but you'd need good brakes to stop if you were took by surprise. You'll regularly see cars upside down in fields or planted in ditches. Unfortunately the unchecked population explosion in this country by people that no longer conform to the laws of evolution has resulted in a growing population that see a national speed limit and expect to be able to drive at that speed without regard.
  12. Massa is a small boy permanently on the verge of tears, I'll look forward to his competitive annihilation!
  13. Checkout this band kinky something a bit different for bored ears. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ct98bu4C83Q
  14. You sound a little down about it all, which is understandable! Stick with it though. Don't let it beat you. :thumbleft:
  15. Bottom end balance will cost you £150 or there abouts. I would say for the quality of work and time and effort they put in they're prices are reasonable.
  16. I don't know where you are based but Adrian at impulse developments does an excellent job. His company is Rochdale based. http://www.impulsedevelopments.co.uk/ Mine is a little bit more of a custom engine but it worked out well I'm very happy with it, I should of had the head ported at the same time but with regard to the bottom end it's character has remained the same but smoother and with more torque. Yes all parts were balanced but not lightened although the pistons and rods used were lighter than stock. Crank, flywheel, clutch pressure plate, pulleys and balance weight were all balanced individually and then as one unit iirc. Before new rings are fitted a block should always be honed to allow the new rings to bed in. hth
  17. Bet yours flows enough air to suck it flat like a tin can! Had a few people comment on how much 'stuff' is under my bonnet. The other one is 'all that lot for only 290hp', that one makes me smile. I love my mid range torque monster  Not really bothered, it's plenty quick enough for me and not bad for something I knocked up at home on the drive 8) Yes it's funny how people judge an engine on it's looks and hp figures. That guy has sprayed all his fluid bottles silver, err colour coded his fluid bottles! That's just form over function!
  18. I've been driving an Audi barge since christmas and it's really starting to bum me out! Trying to save a bit of cash you see! :? If your going from a standard engine to a 2l with a ported head it's going to feel a lot faster I'd imagine especially if you haven't driven anything as quick as a standard rado for over a year! :)
  19. No worries! :D Sounds like you'll have nice torque with that then, should do well at the top end of the rev range with the headwork also. Hope it goes smoothly for you from now on. You got yourself a 1984cc (2.0L) then. :D Be sure to post some numbers when your done, I've still to have my head ported so my power dies earlier than it should. Taking a little break for a few months before the bank balance assault begins again.
  20. ***************THREAD RESURRECTION*********************** So what crank is going in this then 'cos 1960cc can only be made with a 92.8 mm crank and 82 mm bore pistons from eurospecsport! Sorry to keep asking but it's of particular interest to me as I have now finished my 92.8x83 mm 2008cc build. What block did you get? Was it a PG? Did you get one of their custom cast heads aswell?
  21. About 4.15%. Gearbox:- CTN 1.9L D CDA 5th Tyre:- 215x45x16 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Top Gear gives 26.583 MPH/1000 RPM and a top speed of 164.816 MPH at 6200 RPM Engine speeds in top gear:- 30 MPH = 1129 RPM 40 MPH = 1505 RPM 50 MPH = 1881 RPM 60 MPH = 2257 RPM 70 MPH = 2633 RPM 80 MPH = 3009 RPM 90 MPH = 3386 RPM 100 MPH = 3762 RPM Top Speed in 1 gear = 36.516 MPH And changes into 2 gear at 3475 RPM dropping 2725 RPM Top Speed in 2 gear = 65.145 MPH And changes into 3 gear at 3982 RPM dropping 2218 RPM Top Speed in 3 gear = 101.434 MPH And changes into 4 gear at 4428 RPM dropping 1772 RPM Top Speed in 4 gear = 142.012 MPH And changes into 5 gear at 5342 RPM dropping 858 RPM Top Speed in 5 gear = 164.816 MPH ****************************************************************************************** No you just need the cogs but if you want the synchro hubs, springs and rings I can sen them also. It's a lot clearer what you have to do when you have the box open if you have bentley it explains the procedure well. ASD has a taller 1 and 2 again but 4th is very tall like 145 mph tall so you'd want to swap that out which is a lot more involved and requires hydraulic jacks and big bearing pullers. Ask me how I know this! :D Here the data for the ASD box on your wheels. Gearbox:- ASD 1.9L D Tyre:- 215x45x16 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Top Gear gives 31.015 MPH/1000 RPM and a top speed of 192.293 MPH at 6200 RPM Engine speeds in top gear:- 30 MPH = 967 RPM 40 MPH = 1290 RPM 50 MPH = 1612 RPM 60 MPH = 1935 RPM 70 MPH = 2257 RPM 80 MPH = 2579 RPM 90 MPH = 2902 RPM 100 MPH = 3224 RPM Top Speed in 1 gear = 41.803 MPH And changes into 2 gear at 3653 RPM dropping 2547 RPM Top Speed in 2 gear = 70.948 MPH And changes into 3 gear at 4170 RPM dropping 2030 RPM Top Speed in 3 gear = 105.491 MPH And changes into 4 gear at 4346 RPM dropping 1854 RPM Top Speed in 4 gear = 150.486 MPH And changes into 5 gear at 4852 RPM dropping 1348 RPM Top Speed in 5 gear = 192.293 MPH ****************************************************************************************** No problem, one of my favorite subjects, sadly! And work is quiet and I'm bored so........
  22. Yes thats right on 15" wheels at 6200rpm a CDA or .0837 ratio set of cogs will put you at a theoretical 158mph as apposed to the 175mph with the CTN 5th. Forum is having some trouble it would appear so pics will be viewable later I should imagine. 23. Based in Rochdale which is not far from Manchester. Excellent service and patients and honest about problems and delays which I very much respect them for. They did the engineering for my engine, which was not straight forward, and at no point was any request a problem. Never felt like I was pestering them too much although I probably was so all round excellent service. Ask for Adrian. http://www.impulsedevelopments.co.uk/
