One thing I forgot to mention.... A few pages ago I put this up, wondering why the 1st run was so different to the subsequent runs. While I was at the rolling road we did some runs with the bonnet up as opposed to the usual bonnet down. Raising the bonnet resulted in this '1st run' type of behaviour again and again and again. Basically the torque curve changes completely (gaining as much as 20lbft lower down in the revs) and the peak power drops by 5-10bhp. When I get the data from Charlie I'll do my usual graph plots an put them up. But it just goes to show how important it is to consider cooling and air flow are when tuning your engine (and measuring its output). Does Charlie have a big cooling fan/blower at the front of the vehicles?

I'd be up for that when the new engine goes in and has been mapped. What are you managing on the rollers at the wheels at the moment G60Karmann your spec is pretty close to mine. It would have to be at stealth to get good attendance from north and south although if the southeners are prepared to travel doing a day at Awesome has great benefits as the cars are posted on the internet with pictures a video and graphs and you can compare your car directly with others that have ben on the same rollers. :) Hours of fun to be had!

The Audi Sport.......Cleaned up and looking Good!
CTWG60 replied to rado-steve's topic in Members Gallery
I picked up an audi 90 1989 G plate with a 10v 5 cylinder 2.3 engine as a run around whilst doing other work to the C. Surprising how well they go round corners considering all the weight in front of the front wheels. Audi were sneaky though and put the fuel tank vertical behind the rear seats and therefore in front of the rear wheels. Did manage to get it to understeer eventually by being an idiot on an island. When it let go it let go proper big time with lots of tyre squeal. Only cost £475 body work is good but the engines done 212,000 but seems fine. Came with 12 months MOT and 6 months TAX and is excellent for ferrying the kids around and getting to work. I won't see another 90 on the road they are rarer than Corrado G60's! Interior is an Audi 80 sport half leather, which is nice. :) Sorry for the hyjack Steve. :) -
Just come back from Slovakia/Poland and there were a lot of vws, skodas, audis, seats etc but very few fords! Also spotted a VW factory over there. Poland had lots of old VWs and audis on their roads and they were mostly modified, badly!

Yep agree! A mildly tuned G60 combined with a CTN box and VR Clutch (£175+£80) will give you more torque, good traction in the lower gears and the economy you require in 4th and 5th. Mild tuning being around 200 bhp and lbft. :)

I don't know how much you intend to spend but I'd say as you live in a fairly hot country you would see most gain from lowering your intake temps. This in my opinion would be the best option. http://www.bar-tek-tuning.de/lshop,show ... teile,.htm I bought one two years ago and it seriously improved engine performance. I had to make a simple bracket to support the radiator at the bottom but other than that it went straight in. EDIT I take it you don't have aircon (air condtioning/climate control) as it won't fit if you do! Yes cone filters aren't good on the corrado not enough air flow in that area. go back to stock with a k&n panel filter.

:D Well at least he won't have to worry about them being stolen! Good on ye mate for trying something new. Always nice to have a new set of wheels. -
I had the same problem and was doing the sunroof so headlining was out. I had a bit of cash so I bought a mk4 polo boosted ariel it has a slightly different angle to it but it's a plug and go replacement. It even had the square hole fitment and a new seal and my reception now is flawless. Did cost about £50 though so not exactly cheap.

Stick the word turbo in your title you should get more input then. :brickwall:

:D

:nono:  I think it will suit your current interest in engine tuning more than a 16vg60, you should get hours of fun out of your megasquirt box. Edited for peace keeping reasons on your thread. Don't want to mess it up with a turbo argument.

Holly thread resurrection! Anyone know what happened with this any figures?
-
The sunroof! Now thats a flaw. :censored: I've had two break the second broke as I was doing final adjustment just after finishing getting it fitted. :|

I think the BBM noise is cool but I wouldn't like to do a long journey with one! Good job you live on a small island hey flustered. :D Looking good though, well done.
-
OK I guess you've done your research then. :D If I sent you over this shift mechanism what would you charge to produce the same as you have fitted to your car, assuming your interested in repeating the process. EDIT: Sorry I'm assuming you've managed to produce a short shift from passat and corrado parts and fitted it to your car. Is that the case or have I missed something?
-
I've got a shifter and cables in the garage so I'll take a look at it and see if I can understand what you mean, but I really don't think for someone who isn't familiar with the shifters mechanism that it would be easy to do what you suggest first time out I can imagine a lot of testing would need doing and considering the exhaust is in the way I think if you can get one cheap enough from america that would be best. If I thought I'd enjoy playing around trying to get it right then I'd go for it but I wouldn't, I know that, as I've had experience of setting up one of these standard shifters before and it wasn't fun day/week tweaking it after every jounrney.
-
That sounds easy! but I bet it ain't! :D
-
Thanks for that. I won't be doing it till next year so if I get stuck I'll be sure to be in touch. :salute:
-
Yeah it's £2600 odd plus the VAT. http://www.quaife.co.uk/VW_2 All the other stuff listed is different final drives to suit your needs for £500 odd each. Oh yeah and another 100+vat for the bolt kit. :? There is this one and it's only 2k+vat. :| http://www.quaife.co.uk/VW-02A-6-speed- ... fe-gearkit
-
Haven't really looked into it that much but for the money I'd say get the 02S and shifter and give it to someone to put in. The quaiffe kits are ridiculously expensive like 3k expensive.
-
Yeah the 02S's. There's a good range of ratios there to choose from if your running 17" wheels they should be spot on for you. Easy to install as they are basically a O2A/J casing with an extended end plate for a 6th gear. I would of thought they will be popular in a year or so when people stop asking for £600 for them but an option for you to consider. A lot of mk1 boy's talk about them over on dubforce or clubgti iirc as they are easy to fit in the smaller car and give you six gears to spool with. :D
-
I know not!
-
Have you seen this web page? Came across it whilst surfing obviously but it lists a box from a mk5 golf and other late vw and audis and it's basically a short ratio 6 speed O2A box, they call it the 02S box, haven't figured out how the speedo drive could be adapted but looks perfect for your new build. http://www.turbo-conversion.com/16v-Tur ... 5a77c1ae72 Will you make use of the variable cam timing of the 1.8T? Could be useful with that rev range! I believe Emerald can be made to control it IIRC.

Don't give me that smug raised eyebrow smilie. You take that light and shove it where the sun don't shine, oh and by the way, that won't be in your exhaust manifold now will it? Don't ever say I don't give you nothing. A good kicking while a man is down is a very generous gesture. :D
