  1. Cheers. And what about the sidelight thing, must all cars have sidelights?
  2. the analyzers do have the info/details for cars 92 up to 95 (with lasts years update) and its the emission data book number 13 as of august 2007. i am bloody telling you , you put the details of the car in within this age bracket and there is no info ,details not found continue with pre cat limits, and the book is edition 13 i did not realise you were trying to by clever if you know why are you wasting my time , if you are a tester you know if not why are you arguing i am only trying to help people who dont know, but i guess you know best so i will shut the hell up  :fondle: Yes but if you can pass the emissions test whether it be 0.3% or 3.5% no one is going to look under your car and say it's got no cat therefore it fails anyway? Are They?
  3. Got a picture just like that of my Inca Blue G60 on the start line at Santa Pod from last years spring GTi. I managed a 15.12 with around 185-190bhp at the wheels. I've got my top-end fueling more sorted now so hopefully I'll break into the 14's at The Summer Gti festival in June. :)
  4. Anyone know what year or engine code VW started using EGT probes or can point me in the right direction on ETKA? Or recommend aftermarket probes that can hookup to an Emerald ECU. Many Thanks. :confused4:
  5. 1st thing I did to my G60 was new VAG calipers all round, disks, pads and bearings. 2nd thing was VAG bushes, top mounts, dampers, drop links, wishbones. 3rd was sort out the sloppy gear change. 4th was oil change, filter change, coolant flush, new bosch spark plugs and repair an oil leak, etc. 5th I did the rear beam bushes and installed braided brake hoses all round. As for your engine I'm sure others will advise.
  6. Could you be more specific? Any particular trim level or engine sizes! :D
  7. :camp: Funny! It was the wife's, a self important business man rear ended my old C reg Golf GTi writing it off. Which to be honest did me a favour it had a parts required list longer than a Corrado! Edit: Whilst I was driving the clio one of the rear drum shoe linings fell off. And the clutch exploded when I was in a bad mood, on that same day about an hour later I lost my wedding ring in a stable full of straw! AT NIGHT! 4 hours it took me to find the bastard. Talk about a needle in a hay stack!
  8. Yeah good point! I forgot about him.. for those that dont know.. basically i over took an old bloke a few years back, who got the hump about it and then decided to try and overtake back past me. Only problem was there was a lorry parked on the other side of the road so he just pulled into the side of my car. Still, paid for my respray.. i guess they're not all bad. :bad-words: I had an old bastard didn't like me beating him to a contra flow (him BMW 3 series 1.8  ) me in a 1.2 16v clio so he over takes me with on coming traffic just around a bend. I think what a dick and then think I'll just indicate to overtake and start to move out into the oncoming lane with no real intention of overtaking. And do you know what he does! He only pulls out into that same lane to block me!! Wants me to sit behind him doing 40 in a 60 anyway long story short the guy winds me up at the next set of lights pissing about trying to block me so I basically threaten to ram him off the road. no i'm not proud of that but any way get past him and nearly forget about it and he only pulls up next to me with his window down at the next set of lights smiling at me. So I undo my seatbelt to get out and bury the guy and he just jumps the red lights at a busy and accident prone dual carrageway cross roads. 4cking old duffer he was WTF!! How did he reach old age? Must of got tired of living!
  9. When your concentration level starts taking long holidays it's time to hang-up your keys I'm afraid. :(
  10. There's worse younger drivers out there. Apparently more accidents are caused by OAP drivers than new drivers. :ignore: I saw an OAP incident at a drive through hand car wash a car stitting in the que just lunged forward and start doing a burnout into the back of a tidy mk3 with a baby in the back. WTF If you can't keep control of a vehicle in a que you need to stop driving. I often see people driving around and think they are drunk until I see their grey hair. I've seen them mounting kerbs and all sorts. It's pretty bad!
  11. Health and safety would have a field day in there. fookin hell. What about the guy filming it on his phone stood against the wall. I know I think I'll stand in front of a car thats doing 90mph on a set of rollers with my back against the wall. Something deep down inside you, to do with survival would tell you it's not the best of places to be. :salute: As well as dancing around a steel roller thats pretending to be a piece of road doing 90mph. Well you know what I mean.

    Pistons....

To clean ring grooves snap one of the old rings soak pistons over night in "gunk" and then use the sharp broken edge to scrap out the carbon deposites. You also need to check each piston is within spec using caliper micrometers depending on how many more miles you want out of the engine. Also check the bore is within spec using an old compression ring and some feeler gauges. Have a look in a any haynes manual for a better desription with pictures. A dremel with a nylon brush is useful as well. WD40 is good at getting bunt oil off too along with pipe cleaners for cleaning oiling holes. :)
  13. Don't get up close and personal to your marine tank UV-B steriliser tube to read the model number to see if it starts with a "G" which would mean it is superbad for your eyes, whilst it is still on and wiping a load of ECU eproms for you to flash code to so you can drive to santa pod the next day. Result unable to open your eyes at 2am because it feels like pixies have glued sandpaper to the inside of your eye lids. And not able to focus and keep eyes open to drive to Santa Pod at 8am. You live and learn UV alright UV-B not alright! Car drives well now though with it's new code and redtops. :luvlove:
  14. Problem is your brain is overflowing with information and thought processes from doing your Megasquirt and you mixed up your low and high. :)
  15. Yeah, apparently it is because they are internally a lot like a turbo in the way they produce boost through the rev range!
  16. Just buy a full wishbone with the bushes for about £45. Saves a lot of hassle.
  17. What about a rotrex charger they are supposed to be maintenance free with there own special oil supply but I've never seen one fitted to a 4 pot before but apparently you can. http://www.stormdevelopments.co.uk/g60-1-8-8v.html
  18. That's just typical isn't it. It's the sort of thing that makes you start looking over your shoulder and getting paranoid about life. You change to MS and do all the complicated stuff and then you get stitched up by your coil and then by a 2nd gsf one and you think WTF give me a break!
  19. 4cking hell Neil too much information! PMSL :D u should really stop typing what your( oops ..just farted..) thinking. :D finger tourettes testicle knob boob ahem!
  20. It's done, took an hour to remove them I need to replace a few bit's due to age but them injectors were really tight and difficult to get out but I got there in the end. Cheers neil. :)
  21. 4cking hell Neil too much information! PMSL
