Thought of that already because it had just been serviced (you never can trust some mechanics) but it is all fine. Thinking of replacing the sender for the oil temp and removing the vdo gauge in the dash. Hopefully that will sort it out. If that doesn't sort it, I'll have to throw myself infront of a large, fast moving hgv!! :lol: Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it.

No, I always make sure the car is warmed up properly before I take over 3k cause I'e heard it can damage the engine and 'charger. I don't use the car that often and the most I drive it is really only from my house in cambuslang to my mates in paisley and most of that is motorway. It only happens when I'm driving about and stopping alot which doesn't happen all that often. Could it be something sinister like my head gasket or something?

Is it worth while replacing the sender as well and if so how much is it going to cost me? Not a happy bunny with my car at the mo'. How do you get into the motor and is it quite easy to do? Mine is starting to creak as it moves up and down and since I have the day off today, I was gonna give the C some love and lube it up (no jokes please). If it is a simple quick job I'll get it done today. Should I degrease it first to clean it and then re-apply grease to it? What kind of grease should I use? Thanks in advance

My G60 is running on stock steel wheels at the minute but I want to get some alloys. Want to get light wheels so that the power lloss aspect (albiet small) from fitting 17's is minimised or erradicated alltogether. Anyone got any thoughts on light alloys? I had thought of some OZ superleggeras but not sure if they will suit the C's muscular appearence. Any other suggestions?

Twas me who had the temp probs before :x Was thinking of ditching the oil temp gauge for now and seeing what the mfa reading is although I have no idea how to do it. Could it possibly be the sender for the temp that is knackered causing faulty readings? Car was fine till radiator cooling fan switch gave up and since it got replaces I've had high readings. Only had it since feb and loving it :twisted: want to get to the bottom of this temperature thing though. it's not so bad now (the warning light has not beeped or flashed in a while) but the temps still read pretty high compared to the water temps. Starting to really get me :mad:

All my gauges are VDO ones except from my crappy TIM boost gauge which says turbo on it. Are the VDO ones electric or capillary to your knowledge? Must buy new boost gauge soon. Think my oil temp one is buggered. Either that or I have a very serious overheating problem. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately my boost gauge says TURBO on it! Wanna get a new one but not sure what to go for. Whats the difference between electric and capillary? Was hoping to get it down to 2 gauges so I can fit an a-pillar pod mount. I had thought of the ashtray but had no clue how to begin. How'd you do it? I'm curious and it sounds like a great idea as I don't use my ashtray. Plus it will look great when I finally get around to fitting my Honda S2000 starter button in the ciggarette lighter socket. 8)

At the moment I have 4 gauges in my G60: boost, voltage, oil temp, and pressure. I'm thinking that somrthing is wrong with the oil temp one as it is reading quite high (130ish) while water temps are normal (80ish). Thinking of getting rid of some gauges that i don't really need to tidy up the interior. Boost gauge and oil temp are in the dash where the central heating vents used to live (one of them is held in using some sort of cowboyed gaffa tape and card device) and the other two are in a gauge mount at the bottom of the centre console. My point is (finally) what gauges do I really need? I know I need the boost gauge as the charger is * cough * modified, but what others are useful? Just wondered what you guys have inside and where you have them and if I have gauges that are not really important. Thanks in advance

You can buy stuff from autoglym that cleans and restores black trim and door/window seals and such like. Don't think Halfords stock it but you could try other car acsessory shops in your area. Good stuff, my sis uses it on her red RS Turbo after she has polished it using the autoglym stuff you use. Would never know that there were white marks on it.

Is there any way that if the car is set up to lock when you start the engine, to unlock them when you want i.e. letting someone in/out the car or putting something in?out the boot? Was thinking of setting mine up to lock but would be a pain if you want to let a mate in having to switch off the ignition all the time. Another alternative would be to read the manual but that just wouldn't be the man thing to do now would it? Standard 300 has proximity sensor. Tilt can be added to this or comes standard on the 500. Depends on how much cash you've got and if you have tasty alloys.

forgot to say nice looking car aswell. Saw it at biggar and thought it was sweet. Will be much better now it's lowered. I envy your clean looking storm interior... my seats are rubbish looking but I'm gonna try and clean them up. Keep either myself of joe posted about meeting up.

Do you park near any trees or is the car in the driveway? You could get a car cover but I've heard of them removing paint on some occasions. If you can't park your car in a garage when you leave it for periods of time then there is not much you can do. Try T-cut or MER on the bonnet first of all. Might not be as bad as you think. Might take a few applications to sort it.

Good to hear that you weren't hurt mate. A car can always be replaced. Same thing happened to my MkII GTi (only my wheel didn't actually come off) and I thought my brakes were buggered. Turned out the the one nut that was left (the locking one) was only on by 2 or 3 threads. Hope everything gets sorted soon. Doh! Can one of the kind mods delete this post please? mini convoy it is then! Temps still seem a bit high but I'm thinking that the gauage in the dash is pants. Not had any real probs with it since that day when is started going mad at me. :mad: I see your membership came through then? 8) I'll find out the exact route and get back to you about times.
