Could you upload some pics please? I may be tempted. -
nice work mate, your about a year too late for me as I made some myself. I seem to remember that there were several wiring diagrams (early/late and some variations other than those) so might be worth confirming what people need first?

Corrado Carbon Fibre Bonnets - Group Buy - LWS Design
quicky1980 replied to Andrew_LWSDesign's topic in Parts for Sale
Hi Andy, keep meaning to ring up to buy a bonnet. One quick question, do the bonnet springs have to be modded? I seem to remember that the composite bonnets dont have adjustable mounting points for the springs. I dont wish to mod the bonnet springs as Ive just had mine polished and chromed. -
John, just to be clear I wasnt bad mouthing Perf Trim. I found them to be very professional and good guys to talk to, shame they went under. I did see that the Perf trim was bought by LWS so agreed the quality should still be possible by LWS. My German contact have got back to me and have offered to make me a late spec pair of fibreglass wings without indicator holes so Ill be looking to buy these fairly soon, that is, unless the LWS wings look to be a likely option. The German supplier can do carbon wings but they said the costs would be much higher, roughly €700! This seems a bit high but discussions can be made to try and bring this down if we get a group buy off the ground. Bit tight on cash at the mo, but come pay day I will be looking to buy a pair of fibreglass wings from them. Anyone fancy taking the plunge with me to save on postage and possibly piece part cost (as Im paying full price due to one off single order)? I do have a further worry of tyre to arch contact and the possibility of cracking the wings. I run very close to the arches and may end up damaging them often. I guesse FG is easy to repair?

Hi John, hows it going? glad to see your still on here, been a while since Ive spent a bit of time on the forum. As you remember the boot/tailgate group buy fell short when we needed people to commit and ended up not going anywhere. The then running firm "Performance trim" were all ready to make moulds etc on receipt on the deposits. Because of being burnt once I doubt there would be enough interest from those on here to pay up and have LWS make these. Please prove me wrong, maybe some new members are more willing. Link to my/our last attempt http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?54431-Carbon-Glass-Fibre-Boots/page5 If Andy from LWS Design is up for making the wings, thats great news. If they offer the same quality (if not better) than Perf trim, which they should being they use the same moulds etc then its a great backup. This should hopefully have more potential interest I just hope people put their money down when it comes to it. The benefit of the company I found is that they have moulds already so no down payment needed to get started. Only issue is I have no idea of their quality. If they get back to me and cant get a pair of wings to me for around £200 I reckon its worth me taking a risk. If this supplier or my other link are no go's at least we have LWS to help. Just for everyones info, Im not here to take any business away or undercut anyone. Those of you who know me, know Ive been trying to source composite panels for some time now (based on weight saving and corrosion resistance the main reasoning). If LWS can help and can do competitive prices I would be more than happy to go with LWS. Any idea on costs from LWS for the panels John? ---------- Post added at 6:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 6:02 PM ---------- Just re-read some of the old boot group buy. Perfermance trim would have charged £280 for fibreglass boots, pretty similar to the guys Ive found.

im asking if they can do carbon, kelvar. Poor paint adhesion is based on the material or the releasing agent the suppliers use? Don't want to go through the hassle of doing all this only to find its a no go from the start. I may not be too affected as my car isnt a daily, but Im interested in a group discussion on this issue.
-
@ carrots - please tell me more. I'm concerned by your comment. Ive seen plenty of kit cars and fibreglass parts and wasnt aware of them cracking over time. Maybe with a bit more info I can work out if its even worth going any further into this. Wouldnt the chance of cracking be as likely for plastic or carbon/kevlar panels? The bonnets have been available in carbon or fibreglass for some time and havent hear of any issues with those. ---------- Post added at 9:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:14 PM ---------- @ DANG60 - please feel free to post your questions. I may not have the answers but I would attempt to get them for you.

Guys, just to let you know I've not heard of my contact but I put it down to the recent holiday break so if I don't hear anything by Monday Ill chase it up. I wish to stick with this supplier as I know they have the moulds ready even if there is a language barrier with them being German. Also be aware, I am a busy guy and am doing this in what ever spare time I have so dont expect a quick turn around. I too wish to see the finish article and as with my previous attempts to get this going it fell short at the commitment stage of getting money down for tooling, this new supplier already has moulds so no initial outlay and I doubt any of you would be willing to take the chance (correct me if Im wrong) I may take the chance and buy a pair of wings for myself. I would then be able to say what they are like first hand and then keep them all to myself ........only kidding, I would obviously post pics and make comments. If they are good then we move onto the next step of taking orders, if they are bad Ill try and get my money back and look to use my backup supplier. These parts would be a good alternative to either obsolete new parts or sourcing good condition metal originals. So far looks like 13 peeps are interested, mixed bag of panels but gives me a ball park figure to say to the supplier the numbers we are looking to get. TBH, if these turn out to be as good as I hope, I won't struggle to find buyers. VAG-hag, the price should hopefully be for the pair.

LWS Design - Carbon Fibre Corrado Parts

I might be interested in a bonnet. Just toying with getting a fibreglass or CF version. I had a CF/FG version before but couldnt bring myself to paint over the lovely finish For those looking for wings or boots in composite...http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?78515-Fibreglass-Wings-and-Boots&p=945821#post945821 -
I may have found a supplier who can do composite wings and boots for the corrado. wings can be either early or late and may even come in a choice of with or without indicator holes but this is still to be confirmed. [*=1]Wings look to cost around £180 plus delivery costs [*=1]Boots look to cost around £260 plus delivery costs If a suitable number of orders are firmed Im sure these costs can be brought down. Im in talks with the supplier on if they can use other materials ie kevlar and carbon fibre. If this supplier falls through I'm mid talk with another one as a contingency however the costs may be impacted as they dont currently have moulds. Ill try and keep you updated on how these two leads go.

Things are going much slower than I had hoped. I have started to weld up a few things and cut out anything thats not needed. Last job I did was take the fuel tank out ready for boot floor grinding. I have been pre-occupied with other projects unfortunately, including House, audi air lift and recent accidental purchase of a supermoto. Current thing holding me up is the sourcing of the vr6 rear beam attachment brackets. I can find loads of non vr6 ones but the vr spec items are fecking hard to find at a reasonable price.

I gave in on this and don't think there is a solution besides what VW_Owner_85 said. I simply use an app on my phone to do the calcs for me. I would assume the "torque" app that connects to the ecm should be able to give live mpg readings but I havent been able to get that to work either.
-
Hi Rod, slightly far for me but I'll see if I can make arrangements to get to you. Thanks though
-
either, give me a shout when your ready to cut metal. Best send a message on this page as my PM inbox is full.
