As you look at the engine with your knees against the front bumper... The bottom of the hose points left which connects to the waterpump, it then turns 90 degrees (the bit you've circled) and then goes up to where it has a T piece molded into it which connects onto the oil cooler (aluminium lump above the oil filter) It then continues up to another turn so it points to the right and connects onto the plastic flange on the front of the head. These are a sod for bursting with age... they're not too difficult to replace on a Valver 'cos there's nothing really in the way unlike on a G60 where the supercharger and pipework makes this just one of those jobs you don't want to do!
-
The t shaped pipe is part number 027 121 053B The other pipe which attaches onto the oil cooler (aluminium block above the oil filter) and runs to the metal water pipe is 037 121 058A It'll hurt when the dealer tells you the price though... :| About £45 IIRC... HOWEVER: GSF seem to have started doing these pipes! :) Pretty sure it's this one... 17980 HOSE-W/PUMP TO FLANGE CO 16V 4/89 >3/91 £18.75 (ignore that it says 16V, it's the same on all 4cylinder cars! ;) ) Phone 'em up and ask 'em... 8) You're after "the rubber water pipe which runs from the waterpump to the flange on the front of the head and has a T piece in it to feed the oil cooler"... 8) (ain't the search great! )
-
OK, so it is the waterpump to front flange and oil cooler pipe... 8) Helps a lot! :) I'll dig the part number out when I get home if no-one else has by then... 8)

just as an aside, have you tested the voltage getting to the fan? I found mine was only between 8 and 10 V which meant that it was coming on and looked OK, but was running no where near fast enough to cool the car properly... Made up a quick'n'dirty relay loom similar to the headlight looms and now have a nice steady 12V at the fan which makes it spin soooooooooo much faster and has dropped the temps 10degrees! 8)

To quote myself from a different thread... ;) My car's DEFINATELY female... Tempremental, moody, often unpredictable, expensive to keep happy, takes up most of my time and attention, rewards me LOTS of pleasure and makes me feel good as well as p!$$ing me off more than needed when feeling slightly neglected! A typical female in my experience! *runs off and hides from the backlash with his flameproof suit on....*

the fins on the 4 cylinder car water pumps are metal... Are you sure you need to do the pump? The thermostat is pretty easy to do on it's own (with housing!) 'cos you won't then have to take the charger off... The only reasons I replaced my pump was 'cos I built a new engine (new pump 1) and then that pump hadn't been assembled properly from the factory so leaked (hence new pump 2)... Took me about 4 hours all in to do it IIRC, but a thermostat can be done in about an hour and a half... 8)

It ain't exactly a quick job on a G60... :| If no-one else has a write up, I'll try and do one from memory later on tonight when I get home... 8)

There was a change around 92... There's a slight difference in the coach line which runs around the bumper, but I think that's about it... If the bumper has still got fogs/indicators in it, then this is the quickest way of telling (unless someone's modified it!) as the early (non-VR6) foglamps were a seperate unit while the later ones had a black plastic surround which went around (and helped hold in) the indicator too.. Other than that, I don't think there's a lot of difference and either bumper should fit and I'm pretty sure it's just cosmetic differences...

Or just get a bit carried away with 'em... ;) 8) Part of the reason I love this site is the fact that there is soooo much info and so many opinions and experiences on here, both good and bad... Chances are that if it's not already on here and you ask a question, it'll be answered pretty soon afterwards, be the answer good or bad news... 8) It's the reason I stayed anyway... 8)

Tempest, It depends on the model of steering wheel mate, my Momo Race HAS to have those 6 bolts taken out to remove the horn push (and wheel with it) as the horn push is fitted from BEHIND the wheel so sits between the wheel and the boss... :| Not a tough job to do though... 8)

There are a couple around... one's a convertable style roadster thing which was done by a french (I think) tuning company as a demo car and has a LOT of ICE in it... I think the other was an American jobbie with sillly BHP in it too! :D

if you do get an expansion tank, get a genuine one, the Euro and GSF ones are shockingly bad quality... :| I managed to pop one and I took the other back as it had palstic swarf hanging off inside it... Still reasonably cheap for a VAG one though... 8)

made me feel better anyway!

Jesus Ant, that's LOOOOWWWWWW.... Looking good though... 8) Guess it'll have to be next year now when I finally get to whup yo ass on the strip.. ;) 8) Well done, can't wait to see it in the flesh at E38... 8)

Saw 2 dark Blue Corrados on the way home (early! YAY!) this afternoon... One in Chorlton who waved and flashed and then pulled in by the barber shop 8) One in Congleton coming up Rood Hill who also waved and flashed! 8) I'm guessing that at least one of you are on here, but with my memory being as shot as it is (got called in at 2am then again at 6am! :? ) I can't remember who you are..... :|

yes, I now have black leather with a grey carpet, dash and A, B and C pillar trims... no, mine are not heated so didn't need any wiring... Fitting was easy, take the old ones out, put the new ones in... ;) No, the OEM loom doesn't contain the wiring for the electrics in the seats, you need to get that with any seats you get... Wiring loom for heated seats should include switches, connectors for switches and a pair of relays with a multiplug for each seat and a multiplug which goes onto the back of the fuse box... if it's not got this with the seats (and they're supposed to be heated) then the loom is available new from VAG, but it's gonna hurt and you ain't gonna be able to sit on your new seats for a little while until you've healed up! ;) :?

Erm, can you keep this in one thread please... I'll lock this one up so you can keep all the stuff about it in one place HERE  Thanks...

http://www.gsfcarparts.com Bits needed are a waterpump (complete) and the O ring to seal it to the block, thermostat and thermostat housing with O ring (may as well do that while you're in there) + 2L of the PINK Febi coolant (it's re-branded G12+) and probably some plasters for your skinned knuckles... ;) 17058 WATER PUMP-COMPLETE CO 4 Cyl 9/88 > £19.00 17626 THERMOSTAT CO 4 Cyl 9/88 > £4.00 Can't find the other bits online, give your local branch a ring and they'll find 'em for ya! :) 8)

OK, this is weird... I go for weeks without seeing another Corrado, then I see 2 Aqua blue Corrados on my way home tonight... both of whom flash and wave at me! 8) 8) 8) One in Chorlton and one in Congleton...

Warnings have been sent to BOTH involved parties (who are workmates... :roll) With any luck that should be the end of it... -
With ya there Kev... The whole CA meetings thing has meant that I've given up on trying to have a normal life, spend most of my waking hours either here or in/working on the Corrado or asleep wondering what's gonna break next... I think I may hold the record for overkill so far though... a single £1.50 bolt resulted in over £11,000 of work!  It really was a case of "well, while I'm doing that, I may as well do this too....oh and then this, and.........." I still love the car though, just wish she wasn't so fecking expensive for silly small bits... :|

Some UK Corrados DID come with pad wear indicators dr_mat... Mine has the wiring (and it works!) but I've never used the correct pads 'cos they cost more for less pad!  Doubt I'll ever use 'em now I've got my Brembos! 8)
