holy moley... Now THAT'S a how to guide... 8)
-
I never actually had to make a bracket 'cos mine was used on a MKI golf 16V which didn't have any of the ISV cr@p attached! ;) Basically it just needs a bit of sheet metal bent into a shape so that the switch can be attached and do the same job it does now... 8)

you may need a spring off another throttle body to make the peddle a bit firmer, but it depends on how firm you like your throttle to feel under your foot... I found I had slight problems when I first did mine due to having size 14 feet and a lead left foot! ;) The new ones seem to have a better/stiffer spring, so you should be OK... 8) As I mentioned before, you'll need to make up a bracket to attach the idle switch to, but other than that, it's a plug and play affair... 8)

Nah, the heads are all the same, but I'm running a Rallye block (1H) as my original PG block was knackered beyond repair... :( That's why I got supplied the wrong bolts as the guy didn't realise that the 1H block used different head bolts...  I'll tell you this though, I was knackered after putting 'em in and torqueing 'em up then having to turn 'em the extra 180 degrees... :? Them's strong bolts!

The dim-dip resistor lives on the inner wing next to the battery... There's a yellow multiplug with 2 yellow wires going in and out of it... Disconnect this and - voila! - no more dim-dip sh!t... ;) 8)

I've just been educated tonight... Golf Rallye's have a SERIOUS set of head bolts! I think I can see now why the Corrado bolts didn't fit into the Rallye block! ;) The engine is now bolted together and is getting a little detailing before I sling it into the car this sunday... 8) Cheers for the nice comments chubbybrown. I have no idea how much this has all cost me yet either... If I add it up now, I'll get scared and never finish her so I'll work it all out after I'm driving her again! ;) I do know that well over 5K has gone into what will be under the bonnet so far... :?

If all of 'em went at the same time, then it's gotta be a fuse... 8) There's 5 bulbs in the main clocks... chances of 'em all going at once has got to be aproaching zero!  Have a look in the fuse box and see if you can spot one that's dead... they're normally pretty easy to spot... 8)

Is money an issue, and how extreme do you wanna go?!? ;) If money is an issue, Strip out the interior so that you have basically nothing in there except for a seat, steering wheel and a set of clocks to stay egal and tell what your car is doing. Remove the front fog lamps. Strip off the air box and replace with a cone filter. Remove the ironwork from behind the bumpers and just mount the skins onto the car Take out the spare wheel and tools If money's not an issue, do the above and then these parts will help: Carbon Fibre bonnet Lexan side and rear windows (Polycarbonate) Light racing alloys Carbon fibre rear spoiler (or just put a fixed one on and remove the original one and it's motor and mechanism Put in a manual sunroof and window winders Remove the suspension and fit coilovers Get a custom made mild steel or alloy exhaust It's all a question of how far you wanna go, and what you want to use the car for... 8)

bummer... I've got a near identical scratch on my front wing where I parked my car in the garage a little too literally...  Not too expensive to sort out, but a major PITA, and somewhat annoying all the same... :? Hope you get it sorted out OK... 8)

Sorry... :| Make sure you're sat down at the time! ;) IIRC it's not too dificult to drop the tank out on a 'rado... and I can symapthise with the working outside in the rain bit too... ;) yeah.... That should work... there's a way of making the pump fire all the time by shorting 2 pins on the dizzy... I'll look it up when I get home.. it's much easier than messing around with the relays/fusebox! ;) Anytime... 8) Keep an eye out on the for sale section, (and put up a wanted ad too!) I'd bet that there's someone on here who has, or knows of, a second hand tank going for not a lot... 8)

There are several Porsche owners clubs... Try: http://www2.uk.porsche.com/english/gbr/ ... efault.htm http://www.porscheclubgb.com/ http://www.tipec.org.uk/ http://www.911-classified.com/ 8)

Tanks on Corrados were all plastic... If it's been crushed, replace it... If you try to straighten it, it'll crack/split and if you don't it's already very much weakened by being crushed and isn't particularly safe... :|

When you finally build it...

It also helps that I'm gonna be running a standard sized pulley, only it's toothed... ;) That should help the car rev to the same extent as a standard G60 engine with the capacity increase giving the extra grunt, and the lightening/balancing allowing for faster spin up/down times, oh, and that enormous intercooler keeping the charge nice and dense too... ;) There's been a lot of thought gone into this conversion, not just by me, but by many of the people who have helped along the way, and quite a few of my friends too... 8)

Well, looks like VW may be entering another self destruct phase again then... That's sooo ugly compared with the current Lupo... Just like the new Golf... :pukeleft:
-
Cheers! ;) Engine should be finished tonight in her "bedding in phase" state... and will be installed either one night this week if the weather's good, or on Sunday if I don't get chance this week... I'll then sort some of the small details I wanna do to tart the engine up a little bit more... 8) Expected power is between 220 and 250 bhp once the chip is in and rolling roaded with the new FPR and redtops... The torque however, should be lots more interesting... ;) As Gazza says: 8)

195 = width in mm 50 = percentage of width that the side wall of the tyre has (ie on a 195 50, the side wall is 50% of 195mm) 15 = inner diameter of the tyre (the actual outside diameter of the wheel it's fitted to) in inches... 8) 205 will be 10mm wider... the 195/50 will have a side wall of 97.5 mm, the 205/45 will have a side wall of 92.25 which will mean that your rolling diameter of the wheel will be less than with your existing tyres.... this will mean that your speedo will over read slightly... :?

yup, in that case the guy will almost certainly get close to the 6K he's asking... Nice, low milage Storms still pull good money even though they're not as high spec as some of the VRs that go for lesser money...
-
It all depends on milage and a few other factors like if everything's in tip-top condition, but Storms tend to go for between 4.5K and 6.5K at the moment... I'm guessing that if the guy holds for it, he'll probably get pretty close to the 6K he's asking... :? Welcome to the forum by the way... 8)

That's the ABS relays and pump... 8)

Why would you want Wolfsburg logos in a Corrado? They weren't built there, they were built in Onnasbruck (probably spelt better though! ;) )

I will not be heading the groupbuy to personal reason
Henny replied to aposegil's topic in Engine Bay
Sad news Alex... :? I hope that you get whatever it is sorted out as soon as you can with the least amount of hassle and trouble as you can... 8) -
Mine's the same Jim, Only I've got a metal cap for some odd reason... :?

Looks good... Welcome to the forum... 8)

Todays little bit of work involved building the engine to completion... or as close as you can get without head bolts! ;) I would have fitted it to the car today, but it's been hammering it down with rain on and off, so I've not had chance to do a couple of the things I need to do in the engine bay first... ;)
