  1. White H plate G60 outside the Staffordshire knot pub in Congleton on Saturday morning... Anyone here? You were parked in my parking space! ;)
  2. I'm not sure how I cope either... I think that I just post lots on here to make up for not being able to drive my G60... ;) It's rapidly approaching 7 months since I last drove my Corrado.. :(
  3. I don't think HIC have a website (at least, I've never managed to find it if they have! ) You can phone 'em on 01279 506090 though... 8)

    Welcome to the forum... 8)
  5. Welcome to the forum nzgti 8) There are 2 types of gauge panel for the Corrado... The early one that will fit yours is just a holder for 2x 52mm gauges that you need to buy seperately. The later one is actually a pair of gauges made into a single unit that will fit into the storage bin where you currently have the tape storage, although I don't think that this one will fit into a 16V's location, as it was designed to fit the later Corrados. Is your car a left, or right hand drive model? If it's left hand drive, then you can buy one from either europe (not the UK though) or the US. If it's right hand drive then you're stuck in the same situation as us Brits and just have to keep an eye on Ebay.co.uk as the panels are now obsolete from VW :|
  6.:roll: I can just see that now.... BANG!! WHOOOSHHHHHH!!!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!! ;)
  7. Bummer dude... I haven't cleaned the Golf Driver I've got at the moment since a fortnight after I got it 'cos every time I think about it, it rains, snows or is generally nasty outside.... :( 5 months of no cleaning and it's looking pretty nasty.... :? Fortunately my G60 is looking nice and shiney as always... 8) I'm sooooo glad I washed and waxed her just after taking her engine out.... ;)
  8. COOL! 8) show us some pics! :) How did you do it? custom pistons etc, KR block or something even more outragious? 8)

    Road Tax...

When the government figures out that cars are lasting longer I'm sure they will close that loop hole       They already have... The "classic" car exempt tax status only applies to cars registered pre 1973, anything newer than that doesn't count... Even if it's over 25 years old now... :( I know that I'm not voting for these sods next election, but who else out there is there?!?
  10. Cool! As I said, I wasn't sure if you could lever the rear ones out if cut when you'd undone the front ones... you can see what I was getting at now can't you! ;) Most of that chassis arm is there to collapse under impact anyway (that's why it's ribbed) so a hole in it that size isn't really going to make a huge difference as long as you make sure you treat it properly with primer and paint ETC before just plonking the battery back over it... ;)
  11. Well done, bcstudent, That's a fantastic piece of work there... 8) Should help a lot if anyone ever gets stuck in this unfortunate position again... 8)
  12. My Mate has the Pioneer one in his V8 BMW 730i and it's a very nice piece of kit... 8) Build quality seems to be excellent, and the sound quality is very very good on MP3s and stunning with real CDs... 8) I've not heard those Sony units, but I have heard a few others, and I didn't find the MP3 playback very good quality at all... :? Distinctly average... Although that screen is rather BLING! ;)
  13. Preferably, yes... 8) It's to make sure you don't get any electrical noise picked up on the low-level audio signals in the audio feed cables... Either side of the central tunnel, or either side of the passenger floor is enough to get around any problems... 8)
  14. Euro sell 'em for £104 exchange... 8) I have no idea how difficult they are to change on a VR though having never worked on one... :? Welcome to the Forum by the way... 8)
  15. I've got the rest of the speakers running off my head unit and I'm really happy with the sound... 8)
  16. Hell yes... ;) 8) Fill'er up matey! find out what a difference it does make! :)
  17. Welcome to the forum! (We're always nice here! 8) ) 1.8 16Vs and most G60s didn't have an alarm or immobiliser as standard when new. :? You'll find that almost all of them have been fitted with either a Cat2 immobiliser, or a Cat1 alarm since though... 8) Personally, I agree with Gav... Budget to spend an extra £300 on top of buying the car to rip out the old alarm and have a nice new Cat1 system fitted... That way you KNOW that it's OK, no-one else can have a key that will work and you can prove to your insurance company that you've got a good alarm/immobiliser fitted to the car. 8) You'll probably find that the online insurance quotes will be horrific too.... Ignore them, get on the phone and call one of the reccommended ones from here... :D Make sure you mention that you read this forum, some companies now will give a discount for that! 8)
  18. Also check the vacuum pipe that runs from the back of the throttle body up to the ECU. It needs to be exactly 1 metre long and must be properly sealed for the ECU to work properly... 8)
  19. Snap (until I fit the passat ones sat in my garage! ;) )
  20. OK, It's been a while since I updated this, so here goes... 8) J-DUB is now well on the way to being rebuilt... the engine is almost complete, I've just ordered some new metal water pipes for it to save any problems in the future, and I've taken a few more bits to get 'em powder coated before fitting... 8) If you think that this has taken a LONG time to complete, you'd be right, but bear in mind that I've been doing this over weekends and a few evenings when I've got enough light to work on the car... The car is also outside, so the weather is a large factor on the work I can do... :| I've no really good photos to show at the moment (got loads, but they're all a bit boring at the moment) so I thought I'd post up a list of what's been done while she's been off the road and what the final ,now confirmed, specifications and mods will be... Road Tax...

That's a point... at what age do cars get free tax? My MKI has gotta be getting close now.... 8)
  23. I used to run my 1.8 16V (KR) corrado on normal 95RON unleaded when I first got it... As long as you don't get any knocking (pre-detonation) then it'll be fine... I used to put one tank of 98 in for every 3 of 95 just to give it some good fuel... 8)
  24. 110 on the oil, or on the water gauge? 110 oil temp is not that much and is not a problem.... 8)
  25. If it's just the rear bolt that's holding the hanger in, and the front one's not attached at all any more, you should be able to grind the head off the rear one and push the front of the bumper down to remove it from the chassis leg. The hanger is tapered towards the back of the car, so it's nowhere near as tall inside the leg as it is at the front of it... 8) I'll take a photo of it in the morning so you can see what I'm getting at... 8)
