  1. Speedlines.......does anyone know if there still available to buy from VW or can you buy them from anywhere else. I'm thinking about buying a new one as a spare instead of the space saver, assuming it fits in the same hole... i have a bit of carpet with the hump from my old 16v that i can put over the top of it in the boot. I guessing most peeps have never bought one as they either have 16/17/18 inch rims :D I'll give VW a call in the week to see but in the mean time..... TIA
  2. does the lord have a corrado in their yet... ??? I love looking at the garage in Beaulieu itself !
  3. agree aircon is more useful in the winter in our climate !
  4. if you don't have vagcom just check the resitance with a multimetre across the sensor ! the one with minimal resistance is the iffy one.
  5. got the welder out to put a splodge of weld on the CAT shield. in prep for the mot next week.
  6. never had them.. car smell of leather..... you could wizz down to tesco and get some rotting fish and put that in your vents !

    CAT....

thanks for the advice... all sorted now with a nice weld on the passenger side.... 2 min job... battery back on .... just need to retune the radio !

    CAT....

just looked through my records and it was last done in 2002 at 32K at the VW dealer. I'm guessing the CAT wont get too hot and will only be localized to arcing the bracket together.

    CAT....

sorry mods if this should be in general car chat... The post earlier prompted me to look at my CAT shield. it's been welded before at VW about 5 years ago, but not very well as it needs some TLC again, it just needs a bead of literaly 10mm to sort it out. Not a problem to do myself as i have a welder and I'm quite confident. i was just lazy last time to do it myself as they had it up on the ramps at VW. Anyway i've cleaned the area up and a place for an earth. but do I.... 1) just weld as it is.... 2) just weld as it is but disconnect the battery... 3) play it safe and take the CAT off, and do it on the bench... I'm guessing VW never did it like this. I'm guessing there is only about a fiver of fuel in the tank at present, it's on the red :( any other advice for a 2 min job, most welcome
  10. thanks for this post just looked at mine ! and it needs a blob of weld.... :D by the way on a standard set up RADO the CAT shield is 5inch from the ground. Here's mine needs a blob on the rear !
  11. it's the CAT.. and the shield. the shield is normally that low. if you can get under and see if it's secure. I had to weld the support on the back off mine last year. if it's securly fixed to the cat it's fine. edit.... looks like the support at the front is broken and needs welding.
  12. Not really worth sorting out for what your end up spending... anyway I would prefer to see it's a typical honest car rather than it hidding any thing nasty.
  13. Finished polishing the rado in the garage this morning. Battery been on charge all day and changed the oil. Roll on summer !
  14. Only intend used G6 on the bottom of the front bumper, and the 2 side panels of the rear bumper where you get the muck chucked up. not intending to use it elsewhere. results so far look okay. thanks for the advice.
  15. I've polished my 40 foot Yacht (GRP) for the last 10 years with the polisher but never used it on the car ! I'm taking it very cautious ! hence asking !
  16. sorry mods if this is in the wrong slot ! spent the afternoon polishing the rado... just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on a better technique.... I'm using a clarke polisher / sander which i bought from machine mart. (big thing that looks like an angle grinder but has variable speeds 1 - 8 ). I'm using a foam head. I'm rinsing the panels down with a leather then applying autoglem with a cloth (maybe not the best stuff to use but that's what's in the garage) and farcia G6 in the rougher places, front bumper etc.... I'm then spraying the panels and foam pad with a water from one of the garden sprayer's and polishing the panel on the slowest speed, then buffing off on about speed 3. this seems to work, but gets the body work warm - is this okay ? I would like to ramp the speed up a bit especially on the bonnet but am a bit scared to incase i burn the paint work... Assuming a faster speed will get some of the swirls out on the bonnet.. not that it's that bad. What speed should i be running the polisher at ???? Anyone got some advice on what to do... I'm not after a show'n'shine finish. :D
  17. I use seals direct for all my boaty stuff... very helpful and quite happy to sent samples out before buying.. http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/
  18. exactly what i was thinking.... hopefully it will sort it and another rado will be saved from being scrapped, just because it's not economical to fix.
  19. out of interest how much are you paying for a new HG to be fitted ?
  20. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/ not too many on there this week.. but there always seems to be a steady flow of quality / well looked after corrado's. Although they seem to demand a higher premium than the one's on P/H and autotrader... which is maybe a good thing especially in my case. :D if i was to sell it would be through the CCGB or on car and classic.
  21. i've always found a few nice examples on the classic car website.
  22. no real reason at all... it used to be a daily and now is really just a toy / weekend car however i seem to have other interests at the weekend now that needs the estate car so hardly ever goes out, it's garaged, covered and serviced regular. Will never sell it, it's worth more to me than any market value at the moment. had it since 1997, she part of the family !
  23. No about 0.5 mile away.... and a drive round the village to get every things warmed up.... so maybe 5- 6 miles this morning
