  1. Anyone got any good advice / tips before i cut the old origional vr exhaust off (mid section - rear box). whats the best tool for the job.... trying to avoid using the angle grinder    And where's best to cut. TIA
  2. Yup same part number of the bearings i had fitted on mine..... If it's a wheel bearing get the garage to diognose which side even if you know.... VW diagnosed the wrong side on mine.... I made then do the otherside FOC.... the front strut will need to be removed to press the bearing in.
  3. The rate i'm going I won't be far behind
  4. Ooooo I must be bored anyway..... Delivery date 28/02/96 Vin ends in 34**.... never got my head round all those WwVww and Zzzzzzzz's in the VIN number anyone know why ? Car came from Executive Motors, Hatfield Road, St Albans was this a VW dealer ?
  5. To answer your question.... not that i've done it yet. The logical place to cut 'n' shut is at section 'A'. It has a section of tube that is 75mm long with a constant dia of 60mm +/- 0.56 when when i put a mic across it. The sleeve should take this slack up. The rest of the pipe is not a constant diametre and has some flats in it. (you can also see if you look carefully VW cut lines in the pipe) I ordered an exhaust sleeve from VW of diametre 60mm which had either a length of 90mm or 120mm... I cant remember. It will need some bench work to fit it. They don't list it for a corrado but there is one listed for an R32 ! ebay have a selection of exhaust sleeves if you search for "exhaust sleeve" Not fitted my new VAG exhaust yet.... the new one is wrapped up in the garage, waiting for the old one to fall off first.. I'm still looking for the first silencer "NEW" if anyone spots one... at a sensible price not VAG at £120. hope this helps.
  6. Yes.... The seat symbol should light green in the centre and the numbers and lines on the rolling knobs either side should also light green well that's unless you've had a colour change !
  7. A three slat grill will fit on an earlier car with a bit of modification. From memory when i did this a few years ago on my 16v you have to chop / modify some of the fixing lugs on the top / bottom for it to fit. It's not a difficult job.
  8. I left mine once for nine months while i was out of the country... strated on my return without thinking about it and it sounded rather chattery for a while. I get in the habit of starting mine now every couple of weeks for a min, and always do a fresh oil change prior to my short rado season starting.... well all 150 miles this year :(
  9. Some good info there.... I will also add i leave the hand brake off and leave it in gear and chocked. I've had problems with seized real calipers before leaving for any period. I've started to winterize mine today. in prep for next April time when the sun decides to shine again.
  10. Not many things annoy me about the design of the rado. Just washed it this morning in prep for winter storage. and yet again it's that little pool of water that collect just under the the rear number plate on the rear valance that I always forget about it. it happenend on both C's i've owned, is it just my cars ? I luv my C really moan over......
  11. Cosmos has been around for a long time in various forms. it's just an add on to the standard SW. I've used it in the past and it's very good.. better than Ansys and Pro Mechanica in my view
  12. what have halfords actually done... just put a volt metre across the terminals... ? it really needs a load test to see the exact amp/h. is it a sealed unit or can you visually check the cells, may also need a top up of water It's worth investing in a new battery anyway.
  13. I've always used an oil filter from VW with a part number of 021 115 562. Recently i've noticed their is an identical item with part number 021 115 561 are the filter the same.... can i use both filters in my VR6, or is there an alternative filter available. TIA
  14. How does an airbag work in a car steering wheel ? Is everything required for the activation self enclosed with in the centre of the wheel or does it require some sort of computer gizmo within the car for it to be activated. If everything you require for it to be activated is self contained within the wheel is there anything stopping you putting a recent steering wheel on a pre 90's car as long as the splines and fixing arrangement to the steering column is compatible. And would it activate if you had a bump. I assume you require crash sensors placed at various points within the car
  15. er... yup she was just over a year old ! and I paid round about £22,000 for her
  16. bought my VR with 8K on the clock in 1997. now has 41K. so thats 33K miles in my present rado. bought my 16v with 22K on the clock and sold it with 45K. (is she still about J848 SDP - 1.8 16V in Blue with grey velour recaros. sold with a set of 17inch momo arrows) I was a silly boy and should of kept that lovely car. so thats 56K in corrados,
  17. I reckon I've lost from the start :) seriosly I would like to know the average total mileage at present.
  18. I've been looking for such a policy for the last 5 years..... however knowone wants to insure my VR for TPFT. i'm on limited mileage policy used to be 5K miles a year now lowered it to 3K miles as i only use it when the sun shines. last year i paid C £200 for a fully comp policy, kept in the garage....
  19. Hose real for the garden :notworthy: ideal for wrapping the hozelock hose on, ideal for washing the car
  20. you guys like lowering the value of your beloved rado's  i'm sure if we were all selling our's we would be looking for top dollar, where as if we were buying we expect something for nothing
  21. surprized it's got a rust spot, for a car with that mileage. has it been left out and not garaged then. the only rust i would expect is on the origional exhaust. saying that it gives you a bit of room to bargaining on price. i would hope to see a few stone chips and blemishes in the body work as it shows it's an origional car never had an accident or resprayed.... these bits can be sorted if your serious about buying.
  22. Yes have done for the last 6 years. hence the low mileage on the VR...... My daily drive is an economical 03 plate vauxhall corsa SXi.... with the fuel prices going up and up. I win both ways less on fuel for the daily commute, miles stay off the VR..... but the down side is no fun in the week. :(
