Not heard of it on a UK spec car... However if you look in the driver's manual for the corrado there is a section on airbags. guess it was for the safety conscious sweeeeeeeeeeeeds.

Black ABF Corrado - they call it Magnum

looking good.... especially the pix looking up at (sp) tenason (sp) and the needles. -
Wow... long way for me to catch up... Is 180 - 200K about avarage mileage these days. are there many under 100K :D

mayo on the cap is okay... it's when it's on the dipstick you need to worry. If the car's not loosing liquid and bellowing white smoke out of the back when warm it should be okay.... it's just moisture in the oil, from the damp weather that's not burned off. the engine never gets warm on short run's to burn the moisture off.... My first port of call would be to do and oil change and a flush then go from there, give it a good run then check again, before condeming to a head gasket. I hear mayo on the cap is common on Golf 2lt GTI's and similar rado VR6's

as you say 40 - 45K sounds about right not 4K but it could be true :notworthy: saying that a close inspection of the wheels. the internals look mint with no brake dust etc.... and the tyre pattern looks remarkably like those of the original dunlops which came on mine from new !

how's the towbar fitted ? holes in the floor of the boot :nono: . not looked under mine recently but there must be the fuel tank somewhere there too. Girlie colour... Naaaa... I don't mine been called a pansy driving it :camp:
-
Mmmm nice tow- bar.... is the rear bumper butchered to fit it ??? Love the rado in that colour. should of done a storm in this colour  As for people putting cars away for winter..... mine's not even come out this year in the summer. :cuckoo:

never heard of the scheme. But i would certainlly never take my car anywhere for an MOT that.... either sells tyres / exhausts or VW who may have an interest in the car. (ie... quite happy to fail it because they need the work and know how to do it, rather than giving you an advisory). I use my local village garage who I trust. the MOT are expensive about £54 but i know they aint going to rip me off and i trust them.
-
This is really sad, why do people do it :cuckoo: totally gutted for you. hope you get her fixed up okay.
-
Oh no it's not for me rado... touch wood it has no dings :D
-
The only way is to buy brand new from VW as I did in 1996 with delivery mileage on the clock :)
-
thanks for the reply.... intend to do an oil change in the next few week's in prep for winter. normally use 10w40 quantum gold stuff i think ( i buy it from my VAG dealer). but need to check in the gargage. what do you guys recommend.

If i havent started the VR for a while (I'm talking 3-4 months), she quite often sounds tappety until the engine has warmed up to about 100 degree's. after she's warm she purr's like normal. It only happens if she not been started / left for a long time. Is it Anything to worry about or is it normal as the engine has not be lubricated for a while. I know the solution is to use her more! i try to get in the habit to start her every few weeks but sometimes it never happens.

After putting a new exhaust on the VR at the start of the year, I've been toying with the idea what to do with the old original one, thinking it might come in handy for a spare in the future. There was nothing really wrong with it not blowing or anything back box was mint. But the mid section needed some cosmetic work around the entrance and exit pipes (outer skin had started to rust). Yesterday as it was raining i decided to get the welder out and had quite a bit of success welding the hanger bracket back on and tidying the exhaust up in general. :D However it does need some filler in places to make it cosmetically look okay before spraying. Have any of you had success with the liquid metal fillers on exhaust ? I've used the Holt Gum gun or what ever it's called in the past with not much success as it seems to deteriorate over time to a powder. Suspect none of you have tried it with your shinny stainless exhaust  TIA

VR6 limited 5000 miles and garaged.... C.£250 with 250 excess fully comp... aged 33 15 years NCD. I'm trying too beat it down with no success.... anybody got any good deals recently... Ooo forgot to say rado had a little accident, now has a small dent in the wing after the garage door collapsed.... just hours before i was going to install a new electric roller jobby. Ggggrrrrrr..
-
Thanks for both your Pm's.... I suppose the easier solution would be just to use the Rado more  ... she passed her MOT this week too. Now that's a proper car..... I'm considering making some sort of jig up to stop the socket jumping.... but i'm not intending to spend long at it before i give in :brickwall:

Sorry mod's not sure where this should go as it's non VAG. the previous owner of my daily driver has left me with one damaged locking wheel nut to remove Grrrrrr. It's one of those rather Cr@p pattern combinations that have been nicely rounded off. Any advice on the removal.... just done a bit off googling and found you can buy special lock nut removal tools but i can't see how they will actually work. Ta... and ave a good weekend.....

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
delfinis38 replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
mine came out of winter hibernation today..... wash polish and a spin down the road to get a tax disc in prep for MOT next week..... And here comes the confession..... I only managed 118 miles in mine last year  I must get out more... -
Spotted your exhaust on ebay  I bought a new OEM VR6 exhaust of ebay last september from a private seller paid £80 for it. It was delivered by courier from up north to me down south. from memory I only paid £15 TNT overnite (but the guy may of done it through his company !). Could be hassle your end to send to spain, maybe easier to get the guy to sort his own delivery out for the exhaust if he's that keen ! The exhaust was just wrapped up in bubble wrap and was covered in a cardboard on the front and rear section's. I got the exhaust okay, although there was a dent in the rear box through transit. Get yourself a quote from inter parcel online to see the cost.

At a guess alot of those rado's he has adverts for don't actually exists.... The storm and a couple of other corrado's say sold... so i reckon it's just a come on to get you to come and look. It's happened to me before looking for other cars it gets you on the forecourt and interested, and then you get sorry sir we sold that last week but we do have this ........ at which point he known what youre interested in and has your details...

air-con was never standard or an optional extra on a rado. my was fitted by a porsche dealer after purchase. the rado had a devine (sp) air con fitted

As far as could tell... the backing plate looked a slightly different shape, and the pins that insert into the piston where in different spacings. In the past when i was a tight git  i used the tool for locking the angle grinder wheel in position if you know what i'm talking about ! the Black and decker one is an exact fit for a rado
