Wasn't intending to buy any just spotted them with 2 mins to go. AMD in Essex had a selection for golf and I think bora and late corrado. Paid £36ish for them. Brand new in sealed packet. Same price I paid for an ignition switch from the dealers yesterday.

Pick up a set of NOS headlight protectors tonight on eBay. Proper VW ones with the black lines. Sorry if I out bid you. Anyway... How do they fit.. Just clip on ? Did I read somewhere about a bead of sealant is needed. Or was that on the indicator protectors. TIA

im no expert on this... but a 10 - 15 year old less than >2K car don't you expect these issues ? sorry to here about the issues wayne another can of worms. that rado was just about sorted... I admire you for sorting all these old bangers out and selling them on. best of luck with the rover.... whats your user name on the rover forum..... I want to see a 200 page thread again.

kindness off the forum is unreal, GoSport is a long way from Glasgow goldie. Don't stay long its a terrible place. kept my yacht in Premier marina, royal Clarence and Haslar for the last 10 years or so. so know it well.. best bit was sailing away from the place.:) At least your across the water for the Americas cup this month.

Old thread.... But seen quite a few barn find recently.. One even had 180k on the clock... Two phrases that wind me up "barn find" "1 of 250 made" and..... They aren't that special... I guess if your buying a storm you know what your buying. Rant over...

mines been in the garage since day one.. but I think I've washed and polished the car too much.

looks good not used it myself... the problem with the roof trim is the inner edge starts cracking and falling off. some peeps just cut it off with a Stanley knife. mines starting to do this. get the feeling the time being spent on the manufacture of the new trim its going to be expensive and popular.

sorry dodgy info... just taken one out of mine.(late VR6) its metric M8 thread has a screw thread of 13.5mm, you should be able the drill your old one out and re tap the thread. with M8 tap yes any hardware shop or ebay. I replaced mine with stainless.

Load of us bought some recently from a company in Wallingford... They were knocking them out on eBay for similar price. They are the same as fitted to tvr's and other vehicle.. Worth the punt for grommet, mirror and motor.

who was the guy on here that had just become the parts manager of a VW dealer, from memory he was offering parts at dealer prices to us ??? saying that £30 notes wont break the piggy bank.

What to buy ? Direct from dealer ? Or what's the equivalent OEM manufacturer.... Don't mind paying for a bit of quality... But object giving the dealer too much money for something I can buy elsewhere cheaper and the same quality.

Thanks harrier New ignition switch then, maybe worth a punt if they are cheap... Anyone got a part number approx price. Cheers. Ran out of time this afternoon to do any more investigation. VW ignigtion part or what equivalent for a late VR. Every thing in the car works apart from switched live to radio and cig lighter. Edit.... cheers.. checked every fuse and all okay, even checked fuse on headlight switch.... bit puzzled at finding the start of the switched live feed... bit puzzled that it sometimes works too.... immobiliser problem maybe ??

Cig lighter has switched live they also doesn't work. Fuse box after lunch me think. Mm mm scotch eggs with runny yoke... Thanks for the input so so far lads...

Bad idea... Stays on all the time as suggested... Guess it's time to get car out of garage to look at fuse box. Can only open passenger door in garage. Wonder if it's something to do with putting inline fuse in headlight switch years ago.

Ta... Just put volt metre across perm live and got 12v. Nothing out of switched live with ignition on... Any ideas... Fuse box ? Guess it not right answer but is it safe to put red and yellow together on perm live feed.
