  1. Ah yes, ive just read the reply above my own, guess thats what happens when you read the first few replies then skip to the end of the thread
  2. £4K will fetch you a nice VR6, but put the time and effort into the search. Be prepared to travel far, and look at a few good examples before you make a decision. The best bet would be to purchase from a well established member on here. That way there should be alot of people that have already seen the car or know it well, so can vouce for its condition. When i was looking for a mk2 golf a while back there was a standard valver going for £1000 over the average asking price, but when i went to see it my god was it worth it! Every little detail had been looked at, and everything anal was replaced etc, so look out for good examples that at first appear over priced. Also, dont be put off by high mileage rebuild engines. Ive recently had my valver rebuilt (ok it had only done 121k before the rebuild), but now the engine feels amazing! And i bet it drives and pulls better than a 'low mileage' C (which will be around the 90k mark im guessing)
  3. Im not sure how much the rotary engine has changed from its RX7 incarnation, but i've heard they needed engine rebuilds every 60k, which was expensive. It also meant that once a car reached 40k it was either sold off cheap, or the engine rebuild was done ad then they were sold off for more. Also, they're rev hungry and need to be driven hard to get the best out of them, no good for pottering around town in, sod all low down torque.
  4. For the past few nights now ive gotten home and turned the engine off, only to find the indicators down the left of the car remain on, not flashing, but just on. So i then restarted the car and put the hazards on, this resulted in all the indicators being permenantly on, again not flashing. I checked every single fuse and they were fine, then i turned the engine off and everything turned off again as normal. Also, when the left indicators are on solid so is the relevant light on the dash. Anyone got any ideas?
  5. http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/ca ... ull=SEARCH 2nd one down. 04 plate, 3.2 V6 model, 35k, below £10k
  6. My valver used to dust my mates Zetec S, he used to claim that he 'wasnt trying', so one day i asked him to try, he made up alot of excuses and got dusted again. Even though people rave about the sound of the VR i think that my 1.8 valver engine makes a beautiful noise, i love it. Plus i've started giving it some beans round corners now that the rear caliper doesn't catch, and it dont half handle well!! There are corners i can take at 30 that i wouldnt take at 15 in my mum's focus, that has so much body roll its unreal. I had a new TT up my ass the other night, and there is a road with 3 small roundabouts near me, and the road sort of dips down into the round about then back up again as you leave. I left him for fun through them, he just couldnt (or maybe wouldnt) throw his car into them. And i have crap budget tyres too
  7. They should have banned sunroofs on the rado, stupid things!!
  8. It had the decision of my Rado or a G40, i had £2k to spend so it was within budget. Obviously i choose the rado, but i do sometimes wish i'd gone for the polo. The mk3's can look so good with little effort, and they go well too
  9. Ive found the MFA favours cold wet weather, i managed 42mpg on the way home, did a 4 mile stretch at 40mph in 5th, it loved it!
  10. Mine has been off the road for a while, and ive been driving around in a 21yr old polo. Now this way very cheap, cost naff all to run, and got me to where i needed to go. This meant that whilst driving it i was considering selling the C and just having a normal easy car. However, i started driving it again since monday, and ive fallen back in love. I mean it breaks alot, parts cost alot, it has so many weak spots, yet i just love driving it and i can never imagine being able to let it go (unless it was replaced with a VR6 of course). But it just got me thinking, why is the Corrado such an easy car to fall in love with, and so hard to part with?
  11. I would also like to know where they exit. Im currently in the middle of replacing mine at the moment, its taken alot longer than i wanted it to due to the rain and the inevitable problems (these things never go to plan). I've poked some wiring down all the drainage holes to make sure they're not blocked, but the cable seems to go further down some than others, so if i know where they lead to then i can test to see when the cable comes out.
  12. the 16V engines just dont like town traffic. Stopping and starting doesn't suit them and i tend to get low twenties in my valver too
  13. My valver is the same. However, i wouldnt want to change it. You see, due to it being a coupe and withe way the seats are my legs are alot more horizontal than in say, a hatchback. This means that when i want to brake or change gear i have to lift my leg up out of its normal position to press the pedal down, whereas with the accelerator, it sits just right for longer journeys. Ive never had leg cramp/ache in my leg
  14. I got my renewable offer from Admiral last week, £520. Which isn't bad, im 21, 2yrs ncb, and have a 1.8 valver C. However, i decided to go on the net to see if i could get a better quote. So far HIC has given me £800, hastings direct (cheapest my ass), offered me £1450, and swiftcover won't even give me a quote! Whats goin on!?!
  15. If it was economically feasible i would have the sunroof taken out and the hole welded up and the roof resprayed, but obviously that will cost muchos dollaros
  16. Is there an alternative to this? I've spent the last few weekends attempting to replace my sunroof mechanism, and it just looks very over complicated and highly likely to break! Is there an alternative mechanism that fits?
  17. Well i managed to break it even more today, doh!! The metal part slides back with the fabric part, the when it slides forwards it leaves the fabric bit behind. I didnt realise this the first time, so i slid the sunroof back again and managed to tear the fabric part, nice!! So ive now taken some pics, for those that have had the joy of doing this before. I have one mechanism, and metal part, and interior fabric part in the car, the bit below is the old one, which is being used for 'experimental' purposes. Now, below i have numbered but the various bit, to make sure it is connected correctly: Arrow 1 - The plastic part of the sunroof is slid all the way into the little notch in the mechanism itself. Arrow 2 - The plastic part of the interior panel is UNDERNEATH this metal part of the mechanism, is this correct? Arrow 3 - This piece of metal is slid into the slot on the plastic interior panel, again, is this correct? If anyone thinks they can help i can email the full size pics to you, if needed. As said though, once his is done i wont be sliding the sunroof anyway in fear of it breaking again, it was mainly done because i needed a new seal, so figured i'd do this anyway. Plus it sounds better when it comes to sale time (even though i can never see me doing that), and it takes something else off the lil list of niggles
  18. Possible, it depends how the guide rails are. The sliding mechanism is made up of various little levers, and if there levers dont line up correctly then it wont work. That was the problem on mine. On each side the levels should overlap each other, so click into place when changing from tilt to slide, mine didnt, hence no slide.
  19. the repair kit is aprox £27 from VW, i bought a full working sunroof for £50. The seal cost me £30 off ebay as my old one was rotten and had sunk into the bodywork, which looks very messy and poured water all over the seats when i washed for the car. Its a pretty involving job though, get ready for some fun!!
  20. Ah cheers, i'll give that a crack 2moz after work and see how i get on. I will admit that we fitted it, it moved half way back, then we took it out and refitted it and it moved a little further back, so i'll have a play it the motor 2moz and see what happens. Cheers for the help! Chris
  21. Ok, ive spent a few days now repairing my sunroof (problems occuring left, right and centre) and ive hit a problem. The new mechanism is in, the sunroof is aligned, and the interior sunroof panel with the headlining fabric is in place, but now it only slides half way back. Before we put the internal panel in we tested it and it moved all the way back, now it doesnt. We took it back out again and from what i can see everything is in place correctly, but only slides half way back. Having got this far i dont really want to put the car back together like this, as it will also be in the back of my mind as another niggly little problem. Can anyone shed some light on what it might be? Chris
  22. I've joined the group. Facebook is loads better than myspace, i dont even know why that is so popular, i thought it was a pain in the arse to use. I havent got much on my facebook as the missus made me do it, and im still unsure of what to actually do on the site. Odd really, my ex told me to get a myspace one, hmmm.
  23. My bro was saying that apparently you can connect up to 9 xbox's and have a different view on each one, defo something for the mass market that feature!! Ive watched my bro play it, and it does look stunning, i just hope that the next GT for the PS3 is up to the same standard
