  1. Hello mate, you got any pics of the intercooler fitting process? Got one sat in the garage and unsure whether to DIY fit or take it to a garage. :confused4:
  2. Bodywork on my G60 gets me down at times, numerous car park dings, scratches, marks, usual war wounds of a daily driver. BUT trying to be a bit more positive I can park it pretty much anywhere without being too worried about some numpty knocking it or the car hell of supermarket/multi-storey car parks. :gag: Spending my dosh on the internals, no doubt one day I'll get round to the bodywork but at the moment the freedom to use my C every day and anywhere seems a bit more of a plus.
  3. Mine shortly due for renewal so very interested in how you get on mate. Chris Knott have qouted me same as last year, and not sure if its just me but I've got another years 'no claim' and I'm now a year older and more mature, (cough), so would expect at least something knocked off if its only £10-20. No offence Tim but the last few times I've rung with queries didn't get the most helpfull customer service. :( Tempted to go with Brentacre, as last time I rung them for a qoute they weren't too far off and ended up having a long chat with the guy as he also had a Corrado. As Kevhaywire's post, they also knew what I was on about with the mods and upping the bhp.
  4. Just in case Junkie is on his hols, posted this up for some urgent advice. Car in pieces on my parents drive. Again. :( Fitting some Brembo front calipers to my 91 G60 which were purchased from 'Junkie' on here, but hit a snag. :mad2: Can't seem to mate the stainless braided hoses up, (which came with the calipers), to the copper brake lines on my C? 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfBrakeHoseConnector.JPG[/attachment:1gnt5auw] BrakeHoseConnectorCloseUp.JPG[/attachment:1gnt5auw] Non of the standard size male brake line connectors seem to fit the braided hose end? All too big, small or different thread. Anybody any ideas or what size I do need? Any help appreciated as really need the motor back up and running. :notworthy:
  5. Thought it must have been tried before. :(
  6. Anybody else watch 5th Gear last night? Watched the PittStop feature and thought, "why hasn't anyone thought of this before!" Think it was about £25 an hour for the use of a full ramp and tools. :salute:

    Machine Polishing

Where did you get the Silverline from? Was it packaged with all the bits? Would like to try one but can't justify paying out for a Kestrel/Megs one for how much use it would get. :(
  8. Done one of the Rally Days and had mixed feelings. :? The blurb went on about learning handbrake turns, proper off road racing, etc. Spent most of the day in a 'skid car' and ended up with one lap in a Pug round a short course at the end of the day. :( Think would have preferred a lap in something exotic, as the previous posts have suggested, you ain't going to get many chances to drive something like that. If I was going to do something like that again I would want to know alot more detail about time actually spent driving the car, are you in a group who take it in turns to drive, is it an experience day or better driving day, etc.
  9. Just finished a temporary repair to the top of my rear wheel arch and the main thing you need is PATIENCE and it will still stick out like a sore thumb! :( Will hopefully last untill funds are available for a trip to bodyshop.
  10. Have stripped out the back of my C previously, as was thinking about 'track car' look, rear seats, spare tyre, ICE, parcel shelf, looked great. :D Stood back to admire the lighter C and noticed it was more like a drag car! Just chucking stuff out also needs to be levelled up or your suspension juggled with otherwise you end up with your rear end skywards. :camp:
  11. Can't have beem Schumacher all these years, otherwise he would have knocked Clarkson off the road everytime he was losing........... :ignore:
  12. Rung my local Halfrauds for a set of spacers, had a set of 5mm. Went down and picked them up this evening, got them out of the packet and............ :pale:  SpacerPic.JPG[/attachment:2n2gn35y] Wheres the metal?!
  13. Have you recenlty opened the boot manually with the key? The rear boot lock does have a couple of different manual locking options if I remember rightly, so you can open the boot with the doors or keep it locked and open the doors. Same with the fuel flap, which I have found to my embarrassment at the Petrol Station recenlty.
  14. With you at that one Jim. :D Have that 'FEAR' everytime I attempt something on the C.
  15. Thanks for all the advice. Will have a look at 5mm as would like to keep them as close as possible for the looks. 8) Suspension lowered by about 40mm and only problem is wheel rubbage on inside of wheelarch on full lock, but learnt to live with it. Junkie - Disapointed in you mate, was expecting a 'For Sale' PM about your Compo's!
  16. Discovered this problem myself yesterday Jim with the screw. :( Is it not possible to drill the piece out and re-tap the hole?
  17. Got a set of Ibiza Brembo calipers with 305mm discs to fit to my 91 G60, (Kit from Junkie), but have 17" TSW Pace Alloys with an ET35 and the clearance with the spokes is too close to call. The wheel spins but think they will be touching when everything is tightened up. :( climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfBremboClearance.JPG[/attachment:2j3l1pcu] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfBremboOnNaked.JPG[/attachment:2j3l1pcu] So, just after a bit of advice on how to work out what size spacers to put on? Still plenty of clearance to the wheelarch:- passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfWheelarch.JPG[/attachment:2j3l1pcu]WheelarchClearance.JPG[/attachment:2j3l1pcu] What thickness, is it ok to just put a set on the front if not going too big, longer bolts, etc. Any help appreciated. :salute:

    New capri

    :shocked!: WTF is that! :censored:
  19. Was this a limited offer mate? Expansion pack back up to £15+. :( Got the standard pack from Screwfix for £21 for anyone that needs a set in a hurry. Machine Mart a couple of quid more.
  20. Not sure if its just local but noticed that petrol has slowly sneaked back over the £1 mark, well yesterday varied from £1.01 to £1.03, depending on which Petrol Station you visited. Coincidence that its just starting to creep up in price when everyone starts using their cars more often for events, holidays, etc. :mad2:
  21. Was I the only one that saw this? New series of Top Gear starting on 21st June. Will it be any good? Actually should word that better, will it feature cars?
  22. Thanks Simon. Will do the fronts and see how I get on. Although have a sneaky suspicion that this is just a ploy so I have more dosh to spend on more of your parts.
  23. Got the Ibiza Brembo kit to put on the front of my G60 from 'Junkie' on here. :salute: But just wanted a bit of advice about the rears? Read a few posts saying that there is no real need to uprate the back end but wanted to know any recomendations on discs and pads to compliment the front, before I take a trip to GSF? Proviso on my recent MOT sheet said the brakes were operating at 65% efficiency. :( Also, would like to do this all in one go, so any advice on any other bits, pieces, I might need to change, will break and need to replace, etc? Will I need to alter the brake bias? Any advice, help or pics greatly appreciated. Looked through previous posts, but most seem to be for the VR6. :(
