  1. Swifty's were rolling yours in VagHag as mine got rolled out this morning. Hope it got through problem free. :salute:
  2. That's shocking that mate. Think car parks are the most dangerous place for cars, which seems a bit ironic. :brickwall:
  3. Is it all getting a bit like the Schumacher years in F1? Leob just head and shoulders above every other driver in the field. Gronhiem can at least push him but still ends with the same result. :( Not knocking Leob, he is one of the best rally drivers ever and could be the best, but the rest aren't even close. :brickwall:
  4. 4 Door Saloon car. :camp:

    Vinyl Car Wraps

I bet you say that to all the boys.... :D
  6. Cheers Kip, Sorry not been on for a few weeks, aye, info appreciated. Thought I'd try it DIY style. RearNumberPlateLightsAfter.JPG[/attachment:2lw7hxhy] Don't expect it to last too long but should see me through a few months till funds allow for a proper job. Does your metal strip sit flush? Think mines due to the new foam seal being spongy fresh.
  7. Finally got round to sorting the rear number plate light holder, but the rust seems to have taken a real bite out of it! Got the usual strip on order from Stealers and noted through 'search' previous post on spraying this to match the C but after advice on how to tackle the rusted section on the body itself? RearNumberPlateLights.JPG[/attachment:1i6rcvmd] Do I need to grind it back completely or is there some other way of tackling it as the metal isn't that thick?
  8. Changed the drivers side Fog Lamp for one bought from 'Kirade' on the forum. Finally one job this week that didn't end in tears. Didn't find any rust, previous bodge work, overspray, additional broken parts, no scuffed knuckles or swearing at inanimate objects. :bad-words:
  9. Which did you prefer 3corsameal? PI or Weitec? Thats my dilemma at the moment, as I know the PI springs fit without any problems, whereas will I need more bits to fit the Weitec and will they be ok with 16inch rims? Wanting to get the car up and running, so a set of front PI springs would at least keep me on the road until I can get something better sorted. :( But is that just a false economy. :? And after the responses I've got from them would prefer to say "stick it". Previously had S/S exhaust system with a 'Lifetime Warranty', but they usually make it clear that its just for your ownership. Whereas the PI website and promo stuff clearly states 'Lifetime Warranty for peace of mind' without any terms or conditions. So when I pointed this out instead of standing by their claim they are actually changing the website instead. :brickwall:
  10. Spent a couple of hours with a combination of Autoglym Glass Polish and Megs Clay bar trying to remove overspray on my headlight glass without much luck. :( Can anyone suggest anything a bit more abrasive or do I need a better Clay Bar? Any advive appreciated.
  11. Yep, worried me too that I didn't feel any difference with the ride. Could have been a lot worse if it had let go in a big way. :pale: Rides always been a bit of a teeth rattler and I've got fat 16inch rims so the wheels rub on full lock all the time anyway, but never felt anything while cornering or normal driving.
  12. Heard back from PI about the broken spring, pointed out there claim of "Lifetime Warranty for peace of mind with Springs" to be told actually this is b*llox. Warranty only valid for purchaser. Pointed out this is not what it says on there website and no 'terms or conditions' listed with the claim. Reply back said: "We are uploading some text to add to the site to explain the warrenty on all PI items. Also the banner point will be changed. Sorry for any inconvenience caused" Offered to "make an exception for me and split a kit up to send me a pair of front springs for £50+£10 postage". The full set is marked as £85.99 on the website, so not such a great deal, especially after having one snap already. So not only are PI Springs unreliable when they do break the company will not stand by its claim of a "lifetime warranty for peace of mind". AVOID! :epicfail: Now probably going to take C&R's advice and try the Weitec. :?
  13. Spring was wedged and dislodged it while painting. Probably a good job you weren't there as my language was a bit :censored: Thanks for all the help and advice. The Autoglym stuff worked a treat. :notworthy:
  14. Thanks for all the info. :salute: Found out via C&R Enterprises at Nottingham that the code probably relates to PI Springs, but they don't deal with them. Suggested a set of Weitec springs. Had a look on the PI website and '80-202' relates to their Springs with a 40mm drop for Corrado's. Waiting to hear back from them about my broken one. :( New set looking likely and I don't think PI will be at the top of my list. :nono:
  15. Finished cleaning up all four wheelarches and waxoyling! Also had to chase a Kestrel out of the garage, when one mistook the open doors and window at the back as a tunnel, only to discover something called glass. Managed to open the window for it to fall out and fly away. As a thank you it left me lunch of a butchered chick. Nice............ :gag:
  16. Was hoping not to have to replace all four. :(
  17. You weren't kidding about the amount of muck stuck up between all the fuel filler gubbins! Really had to get my fingers stuck up there for all the nooks and crannies. :norty: 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfBehindFuelFlapCrud.JPG[/attachment:1afoyacg] BehindFuelFlapCrudFloor.JPG[/attachment:1afoyacg] Unfortunately the image doesn't show how high this is on the floor!
  18. In the process of cleaning up my wheelarches and took the front drivers side wheel off this morning to be confronted by this:- 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfCoilSpringBroke.JPG[/attachment:3s0jl36s] Going to check the other side later, just in case. :pale: But my problem is how do I know what size spring to get? Previous owner said it had been lowered but looking through the patchy reciept history I can't see anything. It does have some markings on the spring, 80-202 Front :- CoilSpringNumbers.JPG[/attachment:3s0jl36s] Can anyone shed any light on this? Rough measurements of the coil are 25cm high by 15cm wide. If all else fails will have to take off and take with me for reference. :(
  19. Contacted my local stealers just on the off chance that you could still get the spray rattle cans from VW and was a bit shocked to find out that, yep, no problem for the vast percentage of colours! I thought it might be a long shot, as I've got a G60 in the metallic grey finish but no problem. Ended up with a 'touch-up' kit in the same colour as well. :D Rattle can & can of lacquer = £12 Touch up pen & lacquer pen = £6 Thought the info might come in usefull.
  20. Seem to have less of an idea about where to jack up the C, (and then put on axle stands for a few days), after doing a search of the forum? Everyone seems to contradict each other or disagree. The two main ones I found were: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=67820&p=788151&hilit=jacking+points#p788151 viewtopic.php?t=26559&highlight=jacking+points Going to be doing one side of the car and then the other, so will be at least two wheels on the ground for safety. But as its going to be up in the air for at least 48 hours I want to get the points right and not damage anything. Was planning on jacking up the C using the official jacking points on the side of the car, but wasn't sure if the mounting plate on the jack should be to the outer edge of the sill or the other side, inner, of the sort of metal lip? Or should I put a groove in a block of wood, (to avoid crushing the metal lip/strip), to give as wide an area as possible where the jacking dimple is? Sorry to sound like a numpty, but last time I tried this I cracked the sill on the C and discovered a previous bodge job and a very large rust hole. Was a real brown trouser moment when it went with a bang! :pale: Looking at the two previous queries the best place for the rear axle stand is on the huge rear beam? But I'm lost with the front end? The pic from boost monkey is a bit too far away to make out the exact point for the stands. Any help, advice in plain english and pics would be appreciated, as hoping to get on with the job this week. :help:
  21. Interested in this too mate, mine knackered and only scraped through the MOT. Always wondered why my grill stuck out from the headlamps. :salute:
  22. That looks promising on a budget. Is the polisher a random orbital or does it just have variable speeds? Complete novice with machine polishers.
  23. Something like this? http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/meguiars- ... p?cPath=71
  24. Knew I'd seen a pic somewhere before. Great finish. Did the Autoglym even work on any Waxoyl? Judith/Kip - What did you put on the wheelarches once you'd got them cleaned up?
  25. Cheers for the advice. Had a look at inside the arches and they all seem to have a black coat of gunk on them. Is this usual for the earlier models or is it more likely to be waxoyl? Do I leave on and just touch up/clean where its worn off or start again? :? Oh and too late for the filler cap, trip to the bodyshop planned for later in the year. :(
