Is your Corrado the most unreliable car you've ever owned?
Jay2 replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
Thanks Kip for the advice! On a positive it has never left me stranded at the side of the road and on extremely long journeys its never missed a beat, even making it down to G-Werks & back from Yorkshire with a 75% working Charger! Its just that my Corrado is the newest car I've ever owned, is serviced regularly and all parts are replaced, where available, with VW parts. :( -
As the title suggests, is your Corrado the most unreliable car you've ever owned? Its a thought that at the moment keeps cropping up, as the constant battle of solving one problem and then another taking its place is becoming a serious grind and drain on my finances. Obviously at the moment there is no way I could sell it and even get back what I've spent on repair costs this year, so thats not really an option but at what point do you say enough is enough? :(

Bugger! Got the same bubbling around the rear arch as well AND around the fuel flap! :pale: Had the whole side repaired and sprayed a few years ago but it looks like its back. :bad-words:

Boris Johnson was on Top Gear! When was this? Never saw him on this weeks show.......oh hang on............, was that while their was a lady in the front row with a very low cut black and white top on? Need to get out more :help: -
That would be good mate if you could see if they have any left? Or if likely to put up on Ebay again soon? :D
-
May have imagined this and the 'search' seems to bear this out, BUT, was there a post recently about Hooded Tops with a Supercharger cut away pic on them? Via Ebay? Is this the same thing you were thinking about in the other post Vag-Hag? Tried Ebay without any luck. :(

Sorry DirtyTorque, no part number with the Idle Screw from G-Werks, but did come the next day. Does it just screw on tight or to a set level? -

After the help and advice from G-Werks over what was missing I ordered the part plus a spare from them. Thought it was the only decent thing to do. Will let you know if there is any numbers on it when they arrive. Just over £13 for two with postage. -

Idle Correction Screw! Thanks for the help. Will try the local Stealers but found out that Darren/Rob at G-Werks can supply them if not. :salute: -

Nope, the black tube below it in the pic is the one that used to go to the Carbon Canister, which is still blocked off. But thanks for the suggestion, as it was the first thing I checked when I realised the noise was more of a whistle. -

Found the problem but not sure what's missing? 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfThrottleBodyTopDown.JPG[/attachment:e76dnacw] Engine sucking in air at the back of the throttle body through this pipe end, but its ridged as if something should be attached? Had a look around the engine bay and can't see anything obvious which has blown off. Had a look through the Bentley's and can't find anything. When its blocked off the car runs without any problems. ThrottleBodySideOn.JPG[/attachment:e76dnacw] Can anybody help a poor thick Forum member? PS. Thanks for the offer Kip! -

Cheers for all the advice. Managed to have a bit more of a listen and poke about this evening. As before, all the dials seem fine when the car is idling or if you rev it. Definately a whistle noise from somewhere at the back of the engine bay. Had a good feel around and nothing obvious yet. 'Old man' coming round tommorrow evening to give me a hand and bring some better lighting. Will go through the suggestions and hopefully track it down. :brickwall: Thanks for the replies. :salute: -

Cheers for that, will have a look in better light tommorrow. If it is that what do I need to do? :confused4: -
Just been out checking the boost on the new Supercharger and something else has let go, so the C will be parked up on the drive for a few days Kip, so no probs taking a gander or trying them on yours to see about the fit for a few days. :(

How do I disconnect the Supercharger on a G60 to run the car without it? Got a weird noise in the engine bay and wanting to run the car temporarily without the Supercharger to see if it makes a difference to the noise. Do I just disconnect everything or is it more complicated than that?

:help: Been out this evening checking the boost on my G60 after putting 550+ miles on a serviced and P/P supercharger from G-Werks and oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiit! :pale: I let the car warm up and then gradually built the revs up on a number of runs untill finally got the nerve to redline it in fourth and suddenly theres a load squeeeeling noise from the engine bay. I immediately backed off and pulled the car into a side road as I thought the Supercharger had let go. Popped the bonnet to be greeted by a weird kind of squeel or high pitched grinding sound or like pressuried air being released?! Checked the Supercharger for holes or leaks from the pipes but seems ok and the noise seems to be coming more from the back of the engine, where the throttle cable is located. Wasn't able to see too much in the dark and limped the car back home. The volume of the noise increases with the revs but apart from that there are no other symptoms, oil and water look fine, temperature ok, revs ok, Anybody got any suggestions? Has something else let go while I was pushing it?

The Gunsmoke looks really good, is it MOT legal or would I have to remove for it?
-
Kip, Do you wanna borrow mine and see if they are a better fit? Mine are the Lupo ones.

SO, has anyone find out where you can get this tax disc holder from? :ignore:

Girlfriend got a 500 and now wears a smug smile after the Clarkson seal of approval. :? BUT you do need to be very 'in touch with your masculinity' to drive it as a bloke. :camp: Is it just me or are May and Hammond starting to look alike? Although a slightly smaller version? :confused4: -
Yep, Mclaren never going to get near the constructors championship with Kovalinen. Why sign him up for another year when there are so many good drivers around? Oh sorry, now remember last year. :norty:
-
As with one of the previous posts, what was Kubica doing!? Hamilton laps him and then he follows up his chuffer and then tries to unlap himself in the die'ing moments of the race when it was all to play for :cuckoo:
