Hey Goldie Glad the new stat is doing the biz :-) take it there is no leakage from the system? Nikki + Peanut where kind enough to give me a late VR fan contol relay for you to try if you want to swing by and pick it up? Am in all day just give us a text :-) -
Flusted how much did you pay for your tsr 4 branch? As I have a full SS exhaust complete with tsr 4 branch manifold and a LongLife braded flexi joint on my 16v golf gti that I am considering breaking for parts as its rusty and wont start any more :-( Just wanted to get a rough idea of how much its worth? P.s before anyone asks Toad has first dibs ;-)

Hi mate, Check the wires on your
-
Sounds like a Hall sender problem, check the wires from the distributor had the same thing on my Golf when the wires shorted under acceleration
-
When this happend to me it was the rubber seal on the oil filter, Caused by a stuck pressure release valve on the oil pump housing :-( Easy enough to check though! :-)

Just had this back from Auto-txt: Thank you for your enquiry, Prices start from £649.99 for the unit and install and the for two year UK & European subscription it is £429, we also offer a 3 year subscription. Due to the huge take up on Auto-txt we have temporarily run out of stock. We are hoping to have new stock available ready for install in the next few months. If you would like us to contact you when we have availability then please email back and we will keep your contact details and our customer service operator will contact you once they are back in stock. Bit too rich for my blood if I was going to spend £650 on my car it would be for something to make it go or stop quicker!!

And advise on how much I can expect to pay for the system, I guess there is a yearly subscription on top of the purchase + fitting price? Henny if you read this mate I like the sound of your system! Paid off when the garage took HUUY for a blast eh checky feckers!! I also like the sound of this system: Tracker system Anyone got one fitted/heard good or bad news about it? Last but not least does anyone know of a recommended alarm/tracker fitter in or around Southampton? not check the Recommended alarm fitters post yet but will do now! Cheers Dan

No worries, if your taking off the Koni coilovers give em a clean and flog then on as they are very expensive! And it would appear highly sought after Personaly I love mine! But am sure there are a few people on here who will take em off your hands :-) Anyway regarding the blanking plate on your charger, it sounds like the car has had the boost return mod done, quite safe (do a search if you want more info on it) I would highly recommend treating the car to a full service, oil + filter, break fluid, plugs + leads, dizzy cap + arm ect... most important would be the oil and filter!! Unless you know it was done recently and with a good oil (VW Synta Silver) as the charger uses the engine oil to lube its internals! Anyway enjoy it and get some pics up :-) Cheers Dan

....Wallet on standby! ;-)

17psi is good for a stock G60 charger you might want to fit some bigger injectors (red tops) to make sure your flowing enough fuel you dont want it to run lean! But I would avoid running your engine up to 7000rpm!! As its not good for the charger, am sure someone will be along soon to let you know if there is a boost chart for the G60.

I had mine done by Auto Glass and they where utterly utterly useless! :-( They put so much bonding glue in that they stuck the dash and the plastic trim inside the window to the body work and the window (meaning I had to cut it all off when I tried to take my sunroof out last summer!) there was also lumps of bonding glue sticking out inside the car from around the trim. Then the first time I took the car up to 70mph the trim started to pop out at both sides! turns out he had used double sided tape to hold it in, so after calling Auto Glass the woman asked if I could bring the car in to have it looked at! After a quick rant she agreed to send the man out in his van to me so they could fix it properly... However "fixing it properly" just involved more...... yes you've guessed it... Bonding glue! so much it now has lumps outside the window as well as inside. I gave up at this point as I was worried that further complaining on my part would mean my car getting bonded to the ground :-( You have been warned!! Oh I did get a tinted top screen out of them though as that was all they had left :-)

VR6 Cooling questions (Major Breakthrough - Last Page )
DanVW replied to Goldie's topic in Engine Bay
Just as an update to the "VW thermostat" issue I swapped out my old thermostat a few weeks ago and replaced with a brand new one from VW topped up with G12+ and took her out for a rag with Toad She warmed up very quickly and was at 114 (oil) and 110 (water) when we got back, anyway after a coffee I drove back home probably about 8 miles down the M3 free moving traffic and doing 70ish trying to get the temps back down problem was the temps kept going up! And soon I had 122 (oil) and 113ish (water) At this point I was 5h1ting myself as my car needs no excuse to break down and I kept waiting for either the matrix or a coolant pipe to burst! Anyway I got home with the oil pressure warning buzzer bleeping and let it cool down before taking out the new stat and throwing it in a pan of boiling water with my old stat see below: As you will see from the pic the new stat doesn't open far enough to close off the top hole in the water pump therefore its easier for the water to continue around the block rather than be pulled through the rad! Also the new stat has a smaller opening than my old stat (no pic unfortunately) and on top of that it opened very slowly! This is why mine was overheating and trying to cook my head!! As you can imagine I was most annoyed and marched back to VW to see if it would work any better when inserted in a VW parts monkey! :censored: Anyway they gave me another new stat and I took it home to test again with my old stat, surprise surprise it was exactly the same as the previous one! And not wanting to waste any more time I slapped the old stat back in and topped up with my (now recycled) G12+ and I have not had a problem with over heating since. I have noticed that it does take ages to get get up to 80 on the oil but I think this is because my old stat doesn't quite close properly and so there is always a little movement through the rad, so in conclusion I don't know if VW are now handing out stats designed to go in a new car (sharan/polo/golf/lupo) and they don't need to open up so far or have as big opening as the old ones? Or if there is just a dodgy batch of stats being handed out however I will NOT be putting a new VW stat in my pride and joy ever again! Think its going to be after market jobs from now on. Sorry for the length of this post but I wanted to get this onto the forum as I have seen lots of posts about same issue, and wanted to make people aware of what I found + avoid people having to spend days under their car's taking that f*&£1n6 power steering bracket on and off over and over! Cheers Dan -
Oh my God! The first pic is Lemmy (from Motorhead) And is that second pic Gordon Kay (from Allo Allo) :-)

How long does it run without driving? i.e will it sit and idle on the drive ok but die when you try to drive it? Still think your looking at a hefty short somewhere. -

Have you tried measuring the battery voltage overnight? i.e check before bed then again in the morning. Does it hold a charge with the engine off? Sounds like a massive short cct to me -
Daves kit's are the business saved loads of cash and now I live safe in the knowledge I will never need to change them again :-) Worth noting how the door handle cables are routed before you put the door cards back on as I forgot both times and the electric windows ripped the clips off when I tried to open them  Once sorted there fit and forget though Thanks again Dave

Fits my 92 G60 ok but it does have a late exterior though :) (Got a new bumper now just need to get it sprayed)

My Magnex came with the car and in the last 8 months I have only needed to replace a gasket and the rear hanger :-) its very quite inside the car but apparently it makes all the right noises from outside when your boot down  I love it and would recommend one to any G60 owner! Cheers Dan
