Why did none of us think of doing this years ago!? http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=295185

Nice motor... might want to go turn your lights off though
-
Had the same problem on my first MK2 Golf, ended up taking the drivers seat out and getting a mate to put a blob of weld to hold it in place  Best make sure you have it in a comfortable driving position before you do it though as although it will still tip forward to let people in the back it wont be adjustable any more.

Why change your username? You have a green N reg VR just stick a storm badge on the back and job done! 8)

Nice one mate :-D now a 3 Corrado family eh... Just need a G60 to complete the set! Missing the best one IMO ;-)
-
 Show mw show me show me!!

Would love to mate but just cant afford to do anything at the moment :( Sorry to hear your still having problems with the beast too, there is nothing worse than an intermmitant problem with your pride and joy! I have issued mine with a "your going to get recycled" warning a few times myself  Stick with it mate and you will soon forget once she is up and running again! Sorry if you have been through all this but if I was you I would be checking: 1, Iginition switch (very very common!) know it was mentioned before but I cant remember if you changed it? 2, fuel pump wiring (stick your meter across it and see if its getting the required 12v while someone turns the key)
-
Hi Mate, Am staying out of this one as I have never done it :-) Interested to see how you get on though! Have you had the the CO and the idle setup properly? (properly as per bently!) Dan
-
Hi Mate you need to pull the rotor arm off before you can get the dust cap off, I havent touched the dizzy advance since I have had mine but I think the bolt is underneath the dizzy and slightly to the left as your looking into the engine bay
-
Hey Henny It did make quite a bit of difference mate as I had lost speed one so the engine was getting up to nearly 120 degrees (on water temp gauge) 115 (on oil gauge) before the 2nd seed fan was cutting in  and I didnt like it :-( After my loom hack, it comes on at just over 105 degrees (on water temp gauge) 100ish (on oil gauge) Happy with that  I never ment to give the impression that splicing the loom's would enable you to keep both speeds but it is a quick and cheap fix if you loose your speed one and dont want to shell out for a new fan :-) Dan
-
There are a few ways of doing it, cheesewire's way of doing it is probably best as you dont have to cut the loom However if you dont mind splicing a few wires the best way IMO is to take the output from the rad temp sender and splice them together, that way when the sender triggers at either temp you get speed 2 (higher voltage) at the fan :-D have had no over heating issues with mine since doing it. But guess it depends if you are happy about cutting your loom or not. Dan

You will probably be amazed at the state of the fuel filter straps mine where more rust than metal :-( And I still havent got new ones yet  Dan
-
If you guys keep banging on about Darrens Lube you will get Tom all excited an wanting to start a group buy!
-
Cool :-) will keep my fingers crossed! Have you done the fuel filter too? Worth a shot if you havent done it yet.

Pro's: 1:Stops the hot "charged" air being pumped back into the G60 when you lift off the go peddle, meaning your charger will run cooler as will your "charged" air. 2:Gets rid of one of those plastic pipe's meaning you have a bit more room to manover in the bay :-) Cons: 1:Your G60 will need a squrt of Lube every now and then as its not getting lubricated by the oil mist from the block breather hose any more. 2:You will need to get a catch tank on the end of your block breather hose to collect the oil mist or there will be oil everywhere under your bonnet in no time. There is probably loads more of both, but there is a start for you :-) Dan

Hi Mate, Fuel pump is easy (if a little expensive!) I susggest you try the fuel pump relay first as its much cheeper and just as likely (if not more so) to fail as the pump itself! You will have to do a search to find out the position and number thats stamped on the top, as the new one from VW will probably be different! Dan

My standard fan stopped working on speed 1 (suspect because it was rubbing on the top rad hose for a while) :( I had recently replaced the Rad fan switch and tested the harness and relay so thought sod paying for a new fan! I just spliced the wires coming from the Rad fan switch together, so now when the temp hits 81deg (iirc) the fan comes on at speed 2 (where it used to come on at speed 1) So far (3 months on) its not gone over 110 degrees and works fine :-D no need for two stage fan IMO! I also gave it a squrt of WD40 and it did spin a lot more freely! Cheers Dan

Engine not starting properly and races then dies totally!!

Check your timing :-) -
No worries mate glad you got her back up and running :D Maybe see you at some of the shows in the summer Dan

This link shows the whole procedure with pic's :) http://www.corrado-club.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4109

Have you taken the dizzy cap off and made sure the arm is pointing at the notch too?

If you mean the crank aux pulley there should be ony one mark, sort of a cut in the rim. The intermedate shaft pully has a dot (punch mark) in it though :?
