  1. Or just don't want to turn! :brickwall:
  2. I drove my mates A3 1.8T a couple of years back when I'd not long had my VR. It felt rapid round town and on small roads but as soon as I got on a road where I could put the foot down it was as flat as a witches tit :| And for the record, R32's aren't smooth in a corrado platform, smooth when cruising about but everywhere else it's quite harsh really unless a lot of time and efford is put in to making it more refined, I just chucked mine in and wired it up!
  3. That's strange as I've found that raising the ride height firms it up slightly but improves the straight line stability etc due to the wishbones being level etc  I didn't put softer springs on in the end, couldn't afford them really so thought I'd put up with it for now. It's still pretty unbearable though :( I will definitely soften it up eventually, just need the house payments/purchases to settle down a bit first!
  4. You can walk the old engine out of the bay on a jack (using a block of wood to spread the weight) easily enough but you're gunna want a lift to put the new one back in as you have to line up the mounts etc properly and it soooooo easy with a lift. I just hired one for a weekend, cost me about £30 and was worth it!
  5. If I just had the money to buy the wheels then I would have put it towards getting it running better but these (hopefully!!) won't cost me anything once I've sold the RX's.
  6. He's gone back to the Team Dynamics he had before because they're lighter, although I think he misses these now he's only got skinny 7J's on again
  7. Well yesterday me and Kev did some work on my car replacing the R32 wishbone bushes (dodgy garage didn't press them in properly last time and they were moving about inside the wishbone!) and MED bearings. Whilst I was at it I thought it rude not to buy his old wheels off him at the same time  So she's now wearing some 8x17 WHITE Rotas which I think look pretty awesome, and give the car that aggressive stance I've missed from having the Brocks! The car drives 100 times better now with the bushes and bearings done and the wheels are a big improvement too, the car feels much more planted on the road and I'm also quite pleased that they've not made the ride any crashier than on the 16's (but then these are the same weight!!). Other than that no news on the flat spot I'm afraid :( house has swollowed up all my money for the past few months  but got most things sorted now so can start saving again and then I might be able to give it to Vince to have a look at! Pics were just taken on my phone so are crap quality!
  8. When a woman drove in to the back of me I insisted the repairs were done where I wanted them to be done (Stylehaus 8)) and they were fine with that, they just sent a guy out to assess the damage (who turned out to be a guy who worked for VW and used to own a corrado so said "There's no way this isn't getting repaired!"). Just hold your ground mate, I'm pretty sure you have every right to choose where it's done as it wasn't your fault!
  9. Correct, it's running 6-branch, de-cat and (a badly knocking) Miltek cat back.
  10. Yeah I thought that too but they say in the thread a little later on that you'd need a lot more hardware to make 300bhp. So really it's just a good map because mine's making 278bhp with a 'borrowed' remap from Vince! Although I won't mention my torque :ignore:
  11. It's far too low to be Kev's car!
  12. Sh*t! Sorry to hear this, what a waste of a good car! :( As has been said, I hope it all turns out ok and you are back in a rado again soon!
  13. True! I use my C as a daily and I hate it most days  it's very uncomfortable, loud, thirsty etc etc! When I was putting the R32 lump in I was driving about in my old mans Audi A4 2.5 V6TDI Quattro which is a nice car, it's sooooo quiet and comfortable and still goes well without hurting the wallet too much with fuel costs ... but I was bored of it very quickly! Although I find Audi's good looking, they are everywhere so it was just another silver A4, although fairly quick it wasn't quick enough (diesel so no rev range!) and mostly the steering is numb as hell, good because you don't feel every bump but bad because when entering a corner you get zero feedback that indicates whether there's any grip etc and so it wasn't fun to drive! Getting back in the C felt awesome, it felt so planted and quick! Although now I've had the C back on the road a while I'm reeeeally wanting the Audi back again for some refinement
  14. Sob, I'm welling up....  Whtat am I going to do with my evenings now? You'll have to bring the R around for some jobs instead :D You could come and help me do more jobs to mine? Bit of a treck though I suppose
  15. Nice one Jim, your new corrado comes with a great interior! ;)
  16. Yep, 278bhp and it's running std management with a remap and no cats! When funds allow though I will be going back to Vince for a proper map as mine is currently borrowed from another R32 conversion so there might even be a few more ponies in there yet!
  17. Some day I will turbo mine, might be while now I'm a homeowner :(
  18. Have you heard a 4motion with a decent exhaust? Its amazing. What you said isnt quite true, its not like a TDi. There is still plenty of pull all the way up the rev range and to me is better as you dont have to be in the perfect gear when on the "twisty's". Having has both in the same car the 24v point to point on a B road will be quicker in a less frantic fashion. Top end is great for circuits or for 100mph+ but how often are you doing that, mid range punch is what it all about for me. I agree with that, I hated having to fill the 12v's lungs to get it going anywhere, once in the revs then yeah they're quick but the 24v (mine being in the 3.2 variety ) has torque anywhere (well mine hasn't at about 2-2.5k rpm due to the random flat spot I still haven't sorted :brickwall:) and so you can progress soooo quickly without even trying. And yeah, you want noise, listen to my fcuker  R32 with 6-branch, no cat and Miltek cat back, it's an animal!
  19. The C's engine bay looks fantastic Kip! :notworthy: Is the airbox the same as the Mk4 R32's do you know or the Mk5's? My mk5 one is HUGE and I can't see it fitting with just the washer bottle moved out the way. I'd really like to put the std airbox on though as it's rather loud with an open filter on!!
  20. I just had a recirc on mine when I had the Rotrex and it was loud like a dump valve! It sounded fcuking awesome, I miss my Rotrex :( The R32 sounds alright though I suppose, needs a turbo though!
  21. Did you put the bearing in upside down? I did that the first time i put my coilovers on
  22. Clicking coming from the wheels on full lock could well be the outer CV's gone. Tbh until you get the tracking etc done there's no saying what could be causing the dodgy steering as tracking is a main cause! Have you renewed bushes and ball joints? These are worth doing and will make the car more planted and give more 'feel' back in to the steering. A sign that the rack is going is usually the steering feeling heavy one way and light the other. Fitting a non-adjustable steering column will take out a lot of play in the steering, I need to do this to mine next!!
  23. The Mk2 diesel one from GSF fits and is a good upgrade to the standard one as it's slightly stiffer. They're only about £15 from GSF IIRC.
  24. any chance of adding a r32 engine to this cheers mort Good Idea! I will see what I can do :D[/quote:2vssbv9s] Don't use my torque curves though as a comparison
  25. Seems to be a common thing then with the 24v's! It does my head in sometimes, but I've got used to it now and can drive it fairly smoothly, but only takes a slight bump in the road to make you just brush the throttle a bit and it's kangarooing all over the place  I reckon it's because a) uprated engine mounts and b) we've lost the dual mass for a single mass flywheel and I think the springs in the dual mass take the edge off the jerkiness.
