  1. My cold starts are fine, no stalling etc, but then it's standard management so it should be fine really. The engine is fine going slow, as in it doesn't struggle or try to stall or anything like that but the car as a whole is not nice going slow with the engine mainly because of the DBW throttle I'm using as opposed to cable like yours, which is very very responsive and it's just hard work to maintain a slow speed! The flat spot is the only issue left with mine really, and it's annoying as you tend to drive everywhere at ~2k rpm so I'm hitting the flat spot a lot when I just generally want to put my foot down a bit. Other than that it's fine just a bit jerky at low speeds with the throttle etc as I mentioned.
  2. Looking good mate. Are you running any mods to get that power output? Mine got 278bhp which I thought was good standard. You using a standalone ECU or standard management? I'm just using standard. You mentioned a couple of flat spots, that seems to be a common thing with this conversion, what's yours like? I have a big flat spot at about 2k rpm everywhere else is fine but if I'm ~2k rpm and put my foot down it feels like its choking for air but then it will get some power and off it goes as normal.
  3. Yeah if it's just the outer boot you have to change you can do it by just removing the driveshaft from the hub. I'd remove the hub nut, disconnect the hub carrier etc from the suspension leg/wishbones so you can pull the driveshaft out from the hub then you can do it all in situ. It's simple enough to do, just messy!
  4. It is a stunning place to see, not an awful lot to do really unless you are a climber but just to drive round it's got some stunning scenery. I'm glad we went, it's not exactly miles off course really if heading down to Nice/Monaco, or you could come that way up or something.
  5. Yeah it was the best thing I've done, I've been on holidays all my life and been few places throughout europe but to drive it is a completely different experience and I will definitely do it again!
  6. Well the mileage was slightly less for me than my mate as mine was off the road for a few days waiting for a part when my charger packed up, but I think about 3000-3500 miles in total which is about 10 fill ups so not cheap really, I think it was about £600-700 roughly for fuel. I've attached a few pics of the Stelvio Pass, and a couple of others. I've got loads of pics and every time I look through them I want to do it again so badly as it was just an awesome trip!
  7. Agreed, the Stelvio pass wasn't all that, the roads after it (going in to Switzerland) were much better though! I did a europe trip in the corrado in 2008 with my mate in his 350Z. We went to Amsterdam, Osnabruck (for obvious reasons), Wolfsburg (VW), then down Germany visiting a few places like Nurnberg, Ingolstadt (Audi), Munich. Then in to Austria, down in to Italy (where my Rotrex packed up!), whilst in Italy we visited the Lake Garda which was really nice, also went to Modena to visit the Ferrari and Lambo museums. Then we went up in to Switzerland via the Stelvio Pass to Davos, through Switzerland to Lake Geneva which was also really nice. Then in to France, south to the Gorge Du Verdon which was lush. Then back up France home. We were going to go Monaco and across the south of France a bit more but my Rotrex packing up took up about 4 days!! We went for 16 days I think and it was awesome! We basically knew the rough route we wanted to go and then just followed sat nav to locations and booked hotels on the way via the web.
  8. True. I thought that was just down to non-sufficient cooling and lack of a proper map. Probs best to go for the better pump though like you say.
  9. Kev, I ran a standard pump with my Rotrex and same now with the R32 both running over 270bhp.
  10. Nope nothing yet, been too busy (and skint) with my new house so just been driving the car as it is. It's not effecting daily driving really, it's only when wanting to put your foot down at low revs it goes flat about 2k rpm but it picks up again about 3k rpm and then it's as normal so I've just got used to it  Only things I've done to the car lately is change the gearbox mount back to a mk2 TDI jobby over a VT solid one and it's made the engine a lot smoother and easier to drive so would recommend that if anyone's using VT mounts. I've still got a VT front mount though. Going to be putting some slightly softer springs on the coilies after xmas as well as the 400lb ones that are standard on the Weitecs have just done my head in too much now and I NEED it more comfortable being a daily otherwise I'm just going to end up hating the thing! Going to ne renewing the MED top mount bearings as well because they are naffed already  She's also wearing the speedies again as got a puncture in one of the tyres on the RX's and couldn't get a new tyre straight away so will get it sorted at some point!
  11. Another vote for the ignition switch, mine got pretty bad that I had to sit and wait for a couple of mins with the ignition on before it would start. And it wouldn't stay on ignition properly, once when going round a roundabout mine decided to jump out of ignition cutting the engnie off, I just kept coasting round until I could start it again! :brickwall:
  12. You can definitely open the bonnet from the outside, the passenger side is easy enough to pop by removing the grill and pulling the cable. The drivers side involves jacking the car up and getting your arm up with a big flat screwdriver to lever the mechanism and then it will pop open. It's not hard, just annoying!
  13. This may be because they tightened up the bottom strut bolt with the car in the air and no load on the suspension. To rectify, loosen the nuts, put the car down to take the load and then torque them up. Should stop the creaking then.
  14. I did it ages ago with my uncle as he's well in to his scale modelling, mainly with tanks and he's fecking awesome at it! IIRC the grill and lights were one unit with a chrome strip behind, all we did was cut off the badge and then cut some thin strips out of a modelling plastic sheet my uncle had, but I suppose just cardboard would do the trick! Then stuck them in place and painted them black to match. Was a piece of piss really. Could you put some more pics up?[/quote:1gk8ziw4] Yeah I'll take some tonight if I remember :salute:

  16. I painted mine blackberry and debadged the grill 8) Can't seem to find the full size image but here's a very small one.
  17. Sounds like a good idea to me mate! Let me know next time you are in Kettering :salute:
  18. ok, thats what I run......thanks for your input swiftkid :salute: ........changing to KW's - 1 keeping weitecs - 0 anyone else got an opinion ?? Hi mate, I would be VERY interested to hear your opinions on the change as I too have the Weitecs and I have got to the point now that I get out the car swearing my tits off everytime I drive it because the ride quality is so appauling on the fecking sheeeeite roads near me! They have even started to leak at the seals now which isn't helping and they are slowly deteriorating. Even though I really really really can't afford to buy any more suspension as I have just bought a house and should be buying furniture I hate the fact that I am now starting to hate driving my car and so I feel like I may have to fork out for some V1's and take a hit to the wallet, I can just sit on paint tins and eat super noodles for a couple of months
  19. You Jammy Barsteward Kip, Nice Vid mate!! Yep, jammy indeed as he had his hand on her arse!
  20. No news yet I'm afraid, I haven't really looked in to it lately as not really had time or money to get it to Stealth etc as just bought a house. Would be interesting to see what your problem was though.
  21. Well I've just bought my first house so maybe in about 10 years when I have some money again
  22. Personally I just want a completely predictable 250-300 lbft available from 1200 rpm to 6200 rpm. Is that too much to ask? :) Well for the lower one of those figures you just want an R32 lump then! Torque as soon as you touch the throttle and pulls strong to the redline (if you don't have a weird flat spot at 2k rpm that is ). I still want boost though :(
  23. better tell Kev, Shaun, James, Bobby, Charlie, plus a few more on here then that there corrado's have too much power then Arrrrggghh, someone has let a Brussels bureaucrat loose on the forum! I recently discovered a great way to stop 400hp being too much and breaking the law though. Some of you may be familiar with it, it's called a throttle pedal. Yes, that's right boys and girls, you can have zero power or maximum power, or anywhere in-between by regulating a floor mounted "throttle" with your foot. I know, crazy isn't it? Who'd have thunk it? You can actually make a 400hp car drive slowly enough to not break the law. What ever next? Very loud stereos with a similar device to make it less loud?!
  24. Not quite, but it's still a LOT torquier than a VR's low end even with the flat spot!
