Did he! yeah it was good fun, came out easily enough though, just needed some muscle! Yeah pop round mate, come over saturday if you're not up to much, will hopefully get the engine in and most bits connected so you might miss out on the good stuff!
-
Got day off work tomorrow to finish prepping the bay up a bit and then Saturday the R32 is going in  I am renting an engine crane from my local HSS, will have it for the whole weekend so if things go wrong I have a bit of time with it at least! Pics to follow!

:gag: each to their own mate! Loving Jamie T's new song. I mainly listen to older stuff, GnR (not the new schitt!), AC/DC, VR, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Buckcherry etc. Lately I have found myself loving the new La Roux song :camp: I think it's just because it reminds me of back in the day plaing Nintendo computer games

Don't forget an ARB (anti-roll bar) for the rear, Neuspeed 25mm or even 28mm if tracking it! Stiffens up the rear and sharpens turn in.

Yeah the standard ones are designed to deform but it's this give that causes squirming under heavy breaking due to the forks being pushed back and losing the very small amount of castor the corrado has! The R32 ones aren't overly hard but they just don't have the cut outs and generally tighten up the front but the main difference is they sharpen the braking. These with some MED adjustable top mounts make the car feel awesome!

You don't need high power to go for the R32 bushes, they are just generally an improvement as they don't have 2 huge gashes in the side of the bush which allows them to flex so much losing caster under braking. The R32 ones aren't hard like poly ones, they are just complete rubber bushes all round and are a vast improvement, sharpens steering and braking feels more positive. Might cost a tad more ~£30 but worth it IMO.

Looking forwards to seeing some fresh pics of this, always thought it was a really tidy looking car!

Only just seen this thread, awesome project! We need updates! :notworthy: -
I just sent you a PM about the alternator actually mate, doesn't seem to be fitting quite right  I wasn't aware of having to put it all on it that order, not a big problem though, I'll figure it out! I realised it's probs best to keep the hea shield as it's got brackets on to hold soe of the loom etc so I'll put it on, I want it to look quite OE anyway. It will be coming off eventually though when I whack a turbo on it  Thanks for the offer for the crane, if I get stuck I may take you up on it. I will just look in to renting one for the day, will only need for about 20 mins to get the engine in!

Well me and Kev got the old 12v out on saturday, no crane necessary, just a trolley jack and some muscle  Then we dropped off the mountain of wiring to Stealth for Vince to work through for me, ended up at Stealth for a few hours as they had John's turbo'd R32 Bora there which they expect 800bhp from!!! It was a freaking animal, sounded soooo good, was hoping to see it on the rollers but they didn't have it running properly which was a shame :( Didn't get a hell of a lot done yesterday, I just cleaned the gearbox and few other bits, I was on my tod and couldn't move the 2 fcuking great engines out the garage to get the car out so didn't get to clean the bay :( So I just prepped the R32 to go in, putting the 4mo PAS bracket and tensioner on, the 12v PAS pump etc! Going to be putting the R32 in either one day this week (pending Kev's availability after his long list of things to do for the missus ) or weekend, we WILL require a crane though, don't fancy lining mounts up etc whilst holding the weight of the engine  I didn't get pics, will get some later, you've seen it all before though, just a corrado with no engine in  Won't be long now!!

Going to be doing some more work this weekend. Been continuing to srip the bay a bit during the week, nothing worth documenting. Should get the engine out tomorrow, get the R32 prepped up to go in and will then spend some time cleaning the bay up and painting any rusty/rough bits. Updates and pics to come

Thanks :D Didn't mean to hijack the thread btw! would like to know more about your car mate, also some other pics...[/quote:1ttoqzwf] It's a machine! But looks like a weed unless you look carefully and spot some fack off brakes under the wheels which makes you wonder!

This is a family forum, Rob :nono:  Might be the way to win Kev back though....  I think you are on to something!
-
I love this thread, much respect for the amount of work you are putting in, can't wait to see the finished result :notworthy: P.S I got the lambdas through this morning, thanks again!

Only just spotted this thread, nice work indeed! This is what I had done to mine when in Germany last year on my trip. My alarm died on me and I had a different key for my ignition barrel and didn't have the spare with me so couldn't lock my doors!!!! Had to lock the passenger one in the car and then my mate would park right up against my drivers door all the time  Finally found a VW garage who took the handles off me and changed these tumblers for me in minutes! :notworthy: Oh and yeah Kev's garage is awesome! It's got tons of space and every tool/spare you could need
-
Will easily be done by then mate! *touches wood*
-
Cheers Chris! Yeah I think I will hire one to put the R32 in, don't fancy lifting it in! I will see how removing the VR with a trolley jack goes first
-
I could always bring him with me? He can get the teas and coffees in and pop down the shop for Chocolate RobNobs  Still got that spare gimp suit he can borrow Rob? :D I'm sure I could dig it out
-
Cheers guys, I'm really excited about it now, I just wanna get on with it, but I have to work :( weekend though I will hitting it big time!
-
Good thread! I'm gunna get me some of this stuff as will be tidying my engine bay once the engine is out!
-
Cancel the gardening, be a man and come help me then!
-
Ahem a month ;) Yeah right!
-
Good man  Yeah I will be taking lots of pics as I go along. These are just quick pics really, when I start doing the R32 work I will try and get as many detailed pics as I can to help document it for others to look at!

Depends on a lot of things though really mate like time, budget, power etc! A turbo is a lot more of an involved job than just slapping a charger on it, more custom work and a lot more money (if you do it properly, and with this sort of thing you neeeeed to do it properly, remember buy cheap buy twice!). The plus side being you can get more power, but again with more power the more upgrading of other parts you need to do. A charger on the other hand can be put on in a weekend! Still not cheap but much cheaper than turbo, still good power (more than enough power for every day road use at least!) and although will require a strong engine, won't need as much work as going turbo would need.

Here are a few pics I took as I was going along 8) It's pretty much ready to pull the engine out, I just don't have access to a crane at the min and didn't want to attempt rolling it out on a jack without atleast 1 other person there to support the engine. I'll get it out this week and then I can start cleaning the bay up and sorting a few of the rusty areas out, the battery tray for example which isn't too bad!
