Once its done you can just keep on top of it with careful washes. The wax i put on lasts a couple of months easily enough so you wouldnt have to do anything other than wash it for a few months atleast and after that a quick refresh polish and fresh coat of wax would set you up again for another few months easily enough. The machine polishing part shouldnt need doing again if you are careful with your washes etc, its not advised to do it more than a few times as its cutting away paint so if you kept doing it you will eventually take the lacquer off! I am located in Northamptonshire. If you are interested i can provide a price in a PM, its a standard forum price though but only given on request as dont really want to go shouting it out

It does actually look good on the move, i drove past a blue one the other day and i was impressed. I dont think it was a purchased one, perhaps a demo of some sort as didnt think they were on sale yet?

I cant understand why anyone would change the rad on a VR6 without taking the front bumper/slam panel off! Its so easy to remove the front, 10 mins to take off if that and it would make the job soooo much easier! :cuckoo:
-
You rang?? Check out my thread mate, i have polished quite a few cars now and the owners were all very happy with the results. LINK Why does the bonnet need a respray? What i do will make the paint look a lot fresher but at the same time it doesnt remove rust, chips or deep scratches so you have those things to consider. Mine comes up a treat when its clean but the front end is still chipped to fook so i will still want a front end respray at some point on mine :(

My dad's a groundworker, he was having his lunch one day, took a can of rice pudding but didnt have a tin opener so he used his disc cutter  He's pretty handy with it. He's not stupid enough to do it near a nice car though :cuckoo: I can slightly sympathise with you, your case is much worse as it was metal being cut up and has ruined your glass, but my dad cut some blocks up (just dust no shards of metal) near my garage once and the dust went under the door and all over my car and a lot of it embedded in the pain :bad-words: luckily mine could be clayed to get it out but still a pain in the arse! Hope you get it sorted :)

Mmmmmm pearoast? I couldnt find anything.

Only just looked at this, cracking car Paul congrats on the purchase! If you need the paint sprucing up you know where i am

I like them Mic, think they look 8) they suit the colour being black, gives it a mean look!!

I would give it a break if it wasn't for the fact that the brakes are one of the flaws..   I run 280mm's on mine and have never found the brakes to be 'a flaw'! I've tried stepping on mine fairly firmly on a quiet road (with no-one behind me!) whilst doing some significant speed and been genuinely shocked at how effectively they scrub the speed off! The one time I had to use them for a genuine emergency (someone crawling out of a junction in front of me) I hauled off the speed with no drama at all... The 280's are a bit different with a big heavy vr lump over them though Jim :( 288's however are a great improvement 8)

This would be a slightly better replacement for the megs step 3 bottle wax but still not brilliant in terms of finish and durability. Yep the megs step 1 paint cleaner would be ideal, however not completely necessary after claying. Yep thats the general order i take, and i also use a different mitt for the door/boot shuts and the lower half of the car (ie underneath door strips, rear/front bumper) to the top to try and keep my good mitt as clean as possible and these areas are generally dirtiest.

Yes mate i saw that thread and i have had all wheel bearings replaced with genuine VAG bearings.

Tbh if you are going for 9" wide wheels with a low offset like mine were, if you aren't low enough it will look like a beach buggy. I put my brocks on when it was originally dropped 40mm and it didnt look good really, looked clumsy almost  but dropped a bit more and it looked much much better and very aggressive 8) Stretch tyres aren't a must if you have a higher offset so the wheels sit in the arch further, in which case clearance of the arches isn't as much of a problem so you can get away with bigger tyres. However if running wide wheels like 9's too far under the arches you then have to worry about clearance with the suspension. If going for a stretch though i had 215/40's on mine which wasn't a drastic stretch but looked cool and did help with clearance. But remember though that tyre widths differ throughout different brands of tyres so whats 205 on a set of toyo's for example could be the equivilant of a 215 on a michelin etc. And the 40 stands for 40% of the tyre width as well not 40mm as some people think  So that also comes in to play when choosing tyre sizes. And as for the front i think the general selection of tyre size for 7.5's is 195/45 which just has a slight stretch.
-
Yeah its nothing drastic on every day driving, but push an extra 80-100bhp through the front wheels and it becomes unbearable! And yeah i miss the way it handled on them, the car was PLANTED, especially on high speed bends! 8)
-
Link? Price? nah i havent, didnt know they were avilable tbh, could be the answer though :D
-
Yeah if you want staggered then you want 9" rear an 7.5" fronts which would give the desired look but also not ruin the ride as the front wheels which do the driving and steering would have the lighter thinner wheels on. The reason i had 9's up front as well is because a) they were available at the right price at the right time and b) i wasnt keen on the look of the Brocks in 7.5" as the dish was too small.
-
Yep and from spending a HELL of a lot less than the likes of a schrick mani and cams which produce less power!
-
Yeah im not saying that independant isn't worlds better as i am sure it is, but i cant see how round a track a car like kevs which is fairly sorted is going to be left behind (same driver) than one of these modern cars that have got independant. I went to watch some club racing at Donington park 2 weekends ago and in one of the events there were the likes of ITR's 350Z's etc going round and at the end of the race 3rd place was a Vento VR6 without charger/turbos etc just lightened and suspension mods etc. It certainly wasnt any slower on the bends

ha, thats my bubble burst. Was really keen on getting a set of them, not so keen now. Depends on what you are after tbh, i may be exagerating a bit as some people find it fine on big wheels. Depends on what you want really, if you want it to look good then you put up with a bit of an uncomfortable ride (or try for a comprimise by having smaller wheels on the front like 7.5" with 195/45's for example, lighter/thinner wheels up front where it matters would make a nicer ride) but if like me you want silly power and so therefore a ride thats pretty straight and true then looks have to go out the window a bit. Plus it does depend on the setup, if you have nice comfortable suspension and new bushes all round etc then it would be a bit nicer, i find my Weitecs a bit crashy even on the standard speedies at the minute (got a drill bit through a tyre on my RX's :bad-words:). Tbh i am a fussy bugger, i am trying to get a corrado to be a nice drive but at the end of the day with an old chassic and almost 30 year old suspension design now its not going to ride like a modern car is. Alas i am still going to do as much as possible, bushes and suspension is alright now, so its new tyres on the RX's as low tread as well as low profile can affect ride badly. Then its adjustable top mounts to add some caster to make it more stable in a straight line and stiffen up the chassis with ARB's and strut braces etc.
-
I just love those new schmidt's, look so good on a blue C imo 8)
-
A few ARB's, strut braces and seam welded subframe will soon sort that out. You obviously havent been in Kevs car, i cant see just any modern car with a bit of poke beating that, would need to be M3/RS4/Porsche territory imo!

My VR6 badge is the standard late corrado one mate, not touched it, just took it off the standard grill and put it on the debadged grill. As for the ride, there was nothing wrong with my setup as replaced all the bushes myself and have Weitec coilovers on. But generally 9" wide wheels that weigh quite a lot with stretched 40 profile tyres on are not going to do wonders for the ride. The tyres provide no cushion so bumps are very hard, and the weight/width/offset make them tramline, bump steer, torque steer you name it really as generally lighter is best for ride quality. Plus to get the desired look for these wheels you need to be running pretty low which looks awesoe but sadly means the wishbones are pointing up which means the wishbones and track rods are no longer moving in the right way and so cause a lot of bump steer etc.
