  1. Its even better in the metal :notworthy: Euro-monkey!
  2. Say what you think Kev! I think Kevs having a bad day
  3. You shouldnt use clay with just water as water has no lubricity (is that the right word?) so although the clay will 'glide' across the water it will infact be damaging the paint. The detailer acts as a lubricant, there are better ones out there though, i use the Sonus Glyde clay lubricant and when i run out i use neat Megs Last Touch which is like the quik detailer and i mix a bit of shampoo in with it as well for extra lubrication.
  4. I use Hyper Wash to wash the car with as well as to soak it (with some snow foam through a foam lance). Its great stuff imo. Chemical guys maxi suds is good stuff too and smells lush :D
  5. Same here, always keep the paint wet to keep it cool as well otherwise the quik detailer will dry up and the clay wont glide over it. Also i dont see the need to dry the car after just the first soak with hyper wash, you can soak it for 3-5 mins and then rinse off but then you just start washing it. If you dry it after just a rinse then you havent washed the dirt off the car and so could inflict swirls etc.
  6. Yep just done that myself as was also at the cinema watching batman (bloody good film btw) and doing other certain things as well ;) Very funny episode!! I usually dont like the star in a reasonably priced car but this one was brilliant with Jay Kay  And the whole England Vs Germany bit was hilarious!! Hamster's win celebrations
  7. Doesnt necessarily need paint if its just tired looking old paint
  8. Yeah thats what i was thinking, because its going to be getting some serious brake abuse when its turboed :norty: As far as the end of the road where it promptly "runs out of fuel!" Yeah and that
  9. Just get some super resin on it mate, couple of layers followed by a good wax usually hides holograms for me :D
  10. Ok i havent done any jobs for a while, mainly down to having too much coursework/exams etc whilst finishing uni 2 months ago now then i went on my trip round europe etc. But i got a request from Del few weeks back and did his corrado on saturday. When i arrived my initial thoughts were, its just not been washed as it looked dull and lifeless tbh. But on closer inspection i could see the state it was in :( swirls galore and generally hazy, faded paint. This is how the car looked: The reflections were pretty lifeless. And the level of swirls on the wing and bonnet: So the usual steps were wash, clay, wash and then start polishing a test area on the bonnet. After a few hits with the chosen pad and polish combo on the machine i achieved these levels of correction, about 90% removal which is my usual level of correction due to not having paint measuring equipment etc: Thats a bit more like it! 50/50 shot on the rear quarter: Once the whole car was polished like this i went over with some Super Resin as well as i always do and then added the Concours wax which as always delivered stunning wet looking results. Finally glass was polished, tyres and plastics were dressed. Some after shots: And the 2 cars together, stunning! I was pretty nackered when i had finished, being in the scorching sun all day really took it out of me and i had a cold shower and collapsed into bed when i got back  Del seemed pretty pleased with the results which i was happy about as with his other cars entering concours events i knew i had to impress some what! Cheers.
  11. Yeah thats what i was thinking, because its going to be getting some serious brake abuse when its turboed :norty:
  12. :notworthy: my next wheels! Not in that colour scheme though, although blackberry with matt black CH's :luvlove:
  13. It would be a terrible shame to see this car broken for parts :( for the love of god dont do it!! Seriously one of my fav corrados so hope it goes to a good home!
  14. Thanks Del, glad you are happy with it! I was happy to do it, even if it was just for seeing your collection of cars  :notworthy:
  15. Brilliant!! :notworthy:
  16. What tyre shine have you tried? I myself use the Megs Endurance Tyre and Trim Gell (the purple stuff that smells nice :D) and it brings mine up a treat and they stay like it for quite a while!
  17. Well there would be a rise in power, 40bhp by the looks of it which would certainly feel quicker which in turn would bring the 0-60 times. As for buying a remapped one its hard to tell. People always seem to think that buying a car from a single lady owner thats never been ragged is best but i dont believe that myself. I generally try to get an idea of the driver when i buy a car, if they are a litte chav saying "Its well rapid man innit!" then i wouldnt buy it. I myself would prefer to buy a car off of someone like myself who does give the car the beans but knows the limits, has looked after the car thoroughly etc rather than off of someone who drives it like an old person  Cars can have significant power increases and still be reliable and looked after well, just look at half the VR's with vortechs on and even the Turbo boys!

    Top mounts

Mick dont forget what i told you that time we were in your car after you just fit the suspension. I had a clunking on mine which sounded like what you have described, i got a mate to turn my steering (with engine on) whilst i had the bonnet open so i could watch the top mounts and what was happening was as the steering was turning the top mount was slowly turning with it but then the clunk was the top mount twisting back in to place. I assumed maybe i had over tightened and damaged the bearings so i got some new ones (the mk4 ones) and got a mechanic mate to do it (i couldnt be arsed lol) and he told me that i had actually put the bearings in upside down making them ineffective and so he replaced them anyway with the better mk4 ones and put them in correctly and mine havent clunked since! Worth checking out as sounds like you will be taking it all of again anyway
  19. I just checked the carpets and the passenger footwell is damp but that may be because my dad has been cleaning it (it's the going rate for borrowing it for a day) i'll ask him whether it was already damp when i see him. Is it stained? Does it smell of coolant? Dave, yep i got my genuine Valeo matrix from GSF, twas about £50-£60 i believe and VW wanted something like £110
  20. Yeah i'll try and get a pic of them later
  21. They would still shine red mate as Torsten, the forum member i met whilst out in Germany, had the same idea but he still had to use the LED bulbs with resistors to get them to shine amber. I have a set of the LED indicators somewhere and was ready to use them for the MOT but it passed so they must shine amber enough.
  22. Thats my car in that pic btw  I had the original ones which were solid red over the indicators and square cut out for the reverse lights. Even with green bulbs the indicators didnt pass MOT :censored: so i had to lose them just to get it through MOT! I asked Joe at empire to send me another set (considering my car was used in PVW to show them off i think i deserved a free set ) he happily accepted and sent me one of the latest designs which has slits cut out of the indicator section so the orange of the original indicators shined through, back with normal indicator bulbs and they flash orange..ish well they passed MOT this year anyway so they must be orange enough  Speak to Joe at empire and ask for a set with the slits cut out for the indicators. You cant really notice them from distance, you have to look for them really.
