Robs Project 'Doofy' - Gone but not forgotten!
herisites replied to herisites's topic in Members Gallery
Doofy has gone  nah its quite sad actually lol the little breadvan did its job well, turned the key this morning ready for the guy to come and collect it and it started on the button! So its just me and the rado now, lets just hope i can afford to keep running the rado until i get a job   Bring on the next project ... did someone say mk1 golf resto project  In the summer maybe, cant afford one yet, but as soon as i get back from europe and into work in june i WILL be on the look out for a mk1 golf thats a bit tatty but has a fairly solid structure! Im moving this weekend and our new back garden is perfect for the job, just need to knock the back wall of the garage down to drive it through   -
Im jealous and i have a supercharger on mine :( Well done Michael, i bet you are buzzing!!

My thoughts exactly 8) -
Stunning, i love it :notworthy:

Most likely a bit of both mate, a bit too much product put on in direct sunlight would be a PITA i can imagine! Also might be what you are using to apply it with, if you apply it with a cloth you tend to apply it very thick as a lot of product sinks into the cloth and then squashes out all over the paint, you end up using too much of the product as well doing this. If you use a foam applicator or a microfibre applicator etc you will use a LOT less product so will last longer, but you will be able to apply it evenly and in less quantity making it easier to remove. Anyway why do you need to be doing it yourself, i thought i was going to do it for you

No worries 8)

Yeah you can do, you can just go polish then seal or polish, seal then wax. A lot of people actually prefer using a wax as well as a sealant. I myself prefer just a good wax as i like the warm deep glow it gives as apposed to a sharp finish from a sealant.

Yep ditch the T-cut and just stick with super resin polish, much better product imo. Just stick at it with the super resin, dont just give it a quick polish and expect it to look amazing, i would suggest maybe 2 or 3 coats of the super. Applied quite liberally at first working in circular and up-down motions with some pressure, cover the whole car in it, leave for 10 mins then buff off. Then do it again and again but using bit less polish, and work the polish a bit better, maybe doing a panel at a time. Once you have done with the super resin, then you apply the extra gloss protection which is best applied using a sponge applicator, pointless using a cloth as it just soaks in and you use far too much product than you need to. Apply to the whole car and leave for AT LEAST an hour to harden, then buff it off. Enjoy 8)

Im running an 80mm pulley on mine but mine is only the 74 as apposed to your mahoosive 94 so mine only makes 7 psi. I will most likely go for a 70mm pulley, not sure what it will give though, probs about 10psi perhaps? Need some cooling first, cant afford a charge cooler setup at the mo as driving the car round europe end of may so im thinking just to get some form of cooling i will just got for aquamist to start with.

G3 is a really hard compound, i wouldnt really recommend using that personally. Scratch-X is fine for light scratches and will certainly make deep scratches less apparent, i do machine polishing so i get light scratches out easily enough with that however on any spot scratches i just use Scratch-X, applied quite liberally and just work it fairly hard into the paint in all directions and dont stop until the scratch is gone and my arms kill!

Looking for guide to changing inner CV joints on VR6...
herisites replied to adamukcorrado's topic in Drivetrain
Yeah the drivers side driveshaft can be dropped without needing to undo the hub nut. Same as the other side really, once you have undone the bolts holding the inner joint to the gearbox you can get the leverage by splitting the ball joint on the drivers side. -
Cheers mate same as - you got good numbers on sunday.. Good to see another rotrex setup theyre not bad little chargers - what you planning next? cams. Yep 263's, some form of charge cooler and then tiny pulley :D

Glad you are happy with it Judith, its beading very nicely! Nothing like a good wax beading 8) Anyway thought i would post my pics now, despite the dullness with the right settings on the camera they have turned out bloody good! :D
-
Well i have just been chilling a bit after a hard days graft on Judith's bargain of an 8v corrado! Was generally good nick but looking its age when i got there, and when i left it looked almost as good as mine  Pics and write-up to follow at some point when i can be bothered to go and get my camera out the van and upload some pics  Just wanna say thanks to Judith (and Kip!) for her great hospitality, i had tea and chocolate biscuits all day as well as some quite frankly awesome bacon and egg sarnies :notworthy: so i was as happy as a pig in excrement
