Also what is your views on biscuits after a cup of tea is detailed? Is there a certain amount of time to wait before dunking the biscuit or can you pretty much dive straight in? I usually inspect my biscuits for any cracks and general signs of wear to make sure that it wont break off into my freshly detailed cup of tea

I put the milk in after but i think thats only really needed when using a teabag in the cup because if you put the milk in first the milk clogs the bag thus not letting the tea leaves release their flavour as much when the water is added  I would also like to see a coffee detail at some point in the near future, would be interesting to see how to get the perfect comprimise of coffee beans and milk

Oh and i thought that i was the master at making a cup of tea but i take my hat off to you sir  Did you clay the cup first to get rid of any bonded contaiments attached to it that could effectively change the taste of the tea??

Yeah if i could go back i wouldnt grind them again, i managed to take a fair bit off without splitting them but like peanut said it makes things difficult if you do want to get any more archwork done in the future which im looking at. And tbh it would probably catch less with them rolled as the lip is rolled fairly flat where as there is still some sticking out when you grind them and you cant get them rolled at all after. Plus grinding adds the risk of the arches rusting!
-
Getting the arches flared will cost a lot more mate, someone on here has recently had theirs done for £300 PER SIDE!! But then it requires them flaring the arches first and respraying both rear quarters! I think it would look fine just getting the rears done because the rear wheels will fill them and the fronts fill the front arches.

My ears are burning  and Ben where the hell have you been hiding!! I now have Bendy's brocks on my vr (although they look a little different now ) and like Ben said mate i wouldnt go for et15 up front as it looks silly for a start and even with the arches rolled they will catch. I would go et30's up front and maybe space them out a touch like i have done. Et15 is fine on the rear however and like said again i ground the arch lip down (to a safe amount without risking splitting them!) and they do still catch, but i am running it quite low and am running a wider choice of tyre which are 215/40's where as most guys seem to go for 205's which wouldnt catch as much or if you want 215's then you could also get 215/35's which again wouldnt catch as much. I want to go lower though so am considering getting some arch work done  My wheels had 195's on when i first got them  which was as stretched as THIS

Detailing world mate http://www.detailingworld.co.uk. It has some very good guides and knowledge on pretty much everything to do with cleaning a car. The Porter Cable is the weapon of choice on there and with a lot of people machining for the first time but there is also a good guide on using a rotary polisher so thought i would save money and go rotary. Practise is the only way you will learn really, i have read guide after guide and even watched videos on how to do it so in theory i knew exactly what to do and even what to expect but when you first put the polisher on the car and turn it on all that goes out the window and you have to become comfortable with the polisher yourself, following a guide may help but only you know how to get comfortable using a polisher. I agree mate, i wanted to get my car done by Nathan at some point to learn the ropes with everything not just machine polishing. But i happen to know a guy who does smart repair and he also does paint restoring with a rotary machine polisher so he has taught me a fair bit as well with basic tips.

Yeah thats very true, at the moment i putting the miles on it quite quickly so it will be good to keep them down and yes it will be awesome driving it every now and then! Especially as i am going to get a sh*tter diesel to use for uni and most every day driving so getting in the rado will be quite nice :lol:
-
oh no! but good plan! Yeah i know, its going to suck! especially if i get it supercharged knowing i have a 300bhp vr6 corrado sitting in the garage only wheeling out occassionally to run and give a clean :( BUT i am going to keep it insured and taxed etc so it will see the road occassionally and if i do some details in my spare time it will get more use :D
-
Thats a shame. I suppose you do get what you pay for to some extent but i followed some good guides as well as watched some videos etc so i went about it properly which is probably why i managed to get good results. I have the proper polish for the job now so i should hopefully get even better results soon 8)

Yeah i know, it does look good but thats because i use the polish that fills in the swirls so it appears better than it actually is. Some areas are really quite swirly so i want to get it looking perfect. I wont do it on my car yet though until i am fully confident with it as i dont want to ruin it! I also just wanted to learn it as i have a few mates that would like their cars doing so i have offered to do theirs. And i have to go back to uni for my final year in october so will be skint and wont be able to run the corrado :( so thought doing something like this would be a little earner in my spare time perhaps :)

They are about £40 plus delivery so works out at just under 50 notes which is really cheap! And comes with 3 years guarantee so cant be bad really.

Its not just a polisher to put polish on and take it off. A rotary machine polisher is used for paint correction like i have done above. The car was very swirly and instead of using a polish like autoglym super resin polish and just covering up swirls marks i used an abrasive polish which actually cuts a small layer of clear coat off thus getting rid of swirls/scratches completely. The polisher is better at removing scratches/swirls than by hand because the friction it creates builds up a lot more heat and therefore breaks the polish down a lot more. What you do with it is apply the polish to the pad and go over a small section at a time until the polish goes clear and then you buff it off with a microfibre cloth by hand and then go over with a less abrasive polish by machine to restore its shine and for even better results you then go over again by machine with a gloss polish which gives the paint more depth and shine. But i didnt have all the polishes available so just used the paint renovator polish and then applied a gloss sealant by hand.

Ebay mate, thats where i got mine and for the money it seems pretty good.
-
Well i think you could put wax on with one at a low speed but i would personally prefer to do it by hand using a foam applicator.
-
Well until it gets easier to do then too much! I will hopefully get the rest done over the weekend if i have enough time and my sis doesnt need the car.
-
Exactly! Soon people are going to start getting hip replacements at the age of 20 to save getting it done when they are 70!
-
Lovely car, i have a soft spot for highlines 8) and the wheels are just perfect, i would love a set of these one day!
-
nah, a genius would pay that! and then get morons to pay for him to use it! Exactly my thoughts!! I wouldnt spend that much to put on my car, gimme some £15 collinite anyday! But if someone said here's £7k i want that wax on my car then i wouldnt say no  plus i believe that you get free refills for life with that £7k wax so would work out ok really if you are a pro like Paul Dalton who gets paid loads to clean supercars on a daily basis!!
-
Yep chavtastic! I dred to think what the fcuking tv add is going to be for that! Thing is that i dont get is vauxhall (and some other car manufacturers) are making their new cars already chavvy to appeal to the chavs more so they put big bling rims on, tacky plastic add on all over the body and funky interiors but it all gets ripped out/off anyway!!
