  1. Yeah chavs imo, i totally 100% agree about the golf and s3 and in fact all the VAG range, they totally outclass the vauxhalls in every way. Even the focus asbo is less chav than the astra! I think it was just Clarkson's hate for vectra then that made it out to be a shed round corners, it understeered like a b!tch!
  2. Monaro yes, vectra :| it cant go round a corner! I just dont like vauxhalls full stop really with the exception of the monaro, because they just look tacky and cheap, the dealers are desperate (my mate went in once just to ask about the new tigra and recieved phone calls/answer phone messages and junk mail for months afterwards!!) and the sodding corsa advert C'MON!!
  3. Erm what was that about that wax being £3k Jim?? The Real Price!
  4. Sounds good mate, i think the most common meguairs products used with a machine polisher are #83 and #80 but i went for the menzerna stuff as its very highly rated, i have seen great results from it and its good value for money where as the megs polishes seem quite expensive. SRP is a great polish but you are right its better for filling in swirls than actually removing any. Before using the machine polisher i used to give cars 2-3 coats of SRP which filled almost all the swirls and then sealed with Extra Gloss Protection and finally waxed.
  5. I believe it is a Silverline polisher. I wanted to get a Porter Cable which is all the rave on detailing world forum and with some other detailers etc but they are very expensive evenif importing from the states and then you have to faff about changing the plugs and getting a transformer for the voltage etc so just thought sod it and got this one. I knew that i had to get one with adjustable speed which it has, it looks exactly the same as the Sealey polishers and comes with 3 years guarantee so cant be bad really :)
  6. Well i ordered a trade rotary machine polisher off ebay the other day, i didnt go for the cheapest as they seemed sheeite but didnt spend a lot either, but for the money i did spend i am quite impressed with the quality. It has adjustable speeds from 600-3000rpm has 6" pads colour coded for different jobs ie compound/cutting/finial finish etc. So i thought to practise with i would go down the scrappy and get an old body panel or something, but then thought nah i wanna try it now so used my sisters mk2 golf instead  she didnt mind and i have ben reading guides and watching videos so didnt think i would fcuk up and if i did well its old anyway  I only done the bonnet tonight as i started late and that took long enough! As for polish, well it didnt come with any and i have ordered some menzerna polish but i couldnt wait for it to turn up so i thought i would just try it with some Autoglym Paint Renovator i had kicking about. I know its not the best stuff to use and im sorry ok  but it seemed to do a fairly decent job for a first time. So after washing the car (front end only as i was only polishing he bonnet ... i know im lazy but who cares!) i then masked the edges round the bonnet and any plastics close by and then began to experiment with the polish on different pads (sprayed with some quick detailer first) and ended up using the cutting pad first at a medium speed going rather slowly and applying some pressure to the polisher. This got rid of the majority of swirls that were obvious which i was quite impressed with, but it left some hologramming so i went over again with the finishing pad at a slower speed and didnt apply hardly any pressure and that got rid of them and came up great. Did the same process to the whole bonnet and then went over with some SRP by hand with a microfibre cloth to hide any little marks left behind. And these were the results: Before shot - very swirly! After shot - awesome! Before shot again: After: Some more after shots: And finally some shots of the shine after! Overall i am very pleased i got such good results from not even using proper stuff! I cant wait to start using the menzerna polishes which should arrive soon!! :D Anyway thanks for looking. Rob.
  7. Exactly! well said! The VXR doesnt do it for me either, ok they are quicker than the other hot hatches but i would have the golf gti or the asbe every day of the week over the vxr!! I think Paul Dalton is awesome, he was the guy featured on fifth gear detailing the MC12 and he knows his stuff. But i agree with whats been said, its just an astra and brand new, he could of just washed it and it would still look brand new and nobody would notice, whereas an old car or a car thats been badly treated getting the same treatment is much more creditable ... like what i have been doing all night on my sisters J reg golf!!
  8. Corrado Buying Guide sounds like a good one, the colour might be classic green which is darker then dragon green.
  9. Clunk! (good choice of colour btw 8))
  10. cleanyourcar.co.uk but you can use masking tape as well i think.
  11. Actually isn't it true that if you hit something you have to drive on and not allowed to eat it, but the person behind can pick it up and eat it?? Im sure i heard that on top gear or something :? Unlucky though mate, i hit a badger once in my old car and they pack a punch so i cant imagine hitting a deer! CLICKY
  12. Yeah we will def have to get some pics of the two best blackberries together at the volksdevil show 8) And we will wait until mines charged as well before have a blast together because at the minute you would just wipe the floor with mine :(
  13. well if i the guy has the paint already mixed up then who knows what i might get colour coded
  14. Nope, stage 2 vortech and no colour coded casing
  15. Herisites - Shall I just give you my car? :-P Yes please :D  Karl - dont worry mate, it wont put the charger back that much with the price im getting this work done for
  16. A lot of guys on here are running the Koni shocks with H&R springs and are supposed to be the best combination without going down the coilover route.
  17. Why thank you 8) I quite like it too
  18. Thats where i got the idea
  19. Looks fantastic mate, really like this car and the wheels and ride height suit it perfectly. I was tempted to buy this the first time round it was for sale, wish i had now lol.
  20. Hmm could do, but then they might end up looking tatty if anyone hits them with their door etc so might not bother, plus like said they break up the colour a bit. Although i might colour code my passat door handles
  21. My car is now booked in for a few weeks time to get the arse end smoothed completely 8) He is going to sortout a few rust bubbles first so whilst he has the paint mixed he is filling the vw badge recess, the holes under the corrado badge and then removing the towing eye and spraying the lot :D and with the rear wiper removed she is going to be smoooooth  Cant wait now, he is going to let me help as well so its something i learn. I have to get hold of some donor bumper plastic and some rust treatment for him though. Watch this space 8)
  22. That could just be bushes though mate not necessarily the suspension. If you changed yout top mounts and got the bushes/ball joints etc done the car would feel like new again.
  23. That seems quite low torque for a 400bhp car! Although i suppose it is only a 2 litre not a 2.9 V6
  24. Looks ace 8) I would go for a deeper dish on the rears and space them out a bit and then it would look spot on imo :D
  25. Hold on, do you mean Collinite 915? Nathan has just started using this stuff but i was told that the 476s is better for darker colours which is why i got it plus its been proven to be pretty damn good stuff.
