Massive overhaul - What would it cost?
Anton Sobriquet replied to yorkshireone's topic in Engine Bay
What's the SIF? -
I have a brand new polished rear brace going on Parts FS shortly for about 75 quid (just need to check what I paid). I have an identical one already on my VR, which fitted straight on without the need for any trimming. I did need to grind the brace mounts slightly, but I think that was down to my car rather than the brace!

Massive overhaul - What would it cost?

Unless you love your Corrado, like I do :luvlove: forget it. It's a money pit!! As the man said:- Do yourself a favour. Get rid and get an R32. -
My 288s with standard VAG pads, which came on the car, were absolutely brilliant. Felt very confident on them. I changed last year to 4 Motion calipers & DS2500s with 312s and was hugely disappointed. They were no better and a damn sight heavier!! :( Next stop (pun) AP 330s.

Gimme a heads up in advance so I don't miss them.

Nice one. Why are you selling those Turbo twists? They look seriously nasty. I'd love 'em.
-
Why not just get a standard HID upgrade on the dips - not the angel eyes/projector ones, which look pants IMO. No diffo aesthetically, tho'. I got mine done at Stealth for a very fair price and the difference is...... wait for it...... night and day. Don't really need main beams anymore. Vince would sell you just a kit, I'm sure, if you want to do your own fitting.

Sure you're not just going to tramline everywhere?

Unless I've misunderstood you, you can't fit the A4 cluster as it's supplied into the Corrado housing; it's just too big. You have to break open the A4 cluster housing and make a new one along the lines described in the mod on the DDI site. If enough people were interested it should be possible to get housings of the correct size properly manufactured from a prototype, but the A4 light cluster housing would still need to be broken open to get the lights out.
-
You also need to bear in mind that whilst it might look cool stationary, it'll handle like a pig if you drop it so low the wishbones are below horizontal..........
-
Longitudinal? If it's a project car, why not go spaceframe and stick an Audi V8 quattro in it? I fancy it but need someone to lead the way.
-
Sorry if I'm butting in but what about Audi mechanical AWD in preference to the electronic system? Is it doable?

What would be best to use if you're on a less restricted budget?

Are the KW's a "smooth ride" ? (V1, V2, V3)
Anton Sobriquet replied to Mawrick's topic in Drivetrain
Don't know what's on the car now, but it sounds like you'd be better off trying something like 2nd hand Koni TAs with H&R springs to start with rather than quality coilovers, to see what you like and don't like and go from there. You can never adjust the spring rates anyway, they're fixed unless you change the springs themselves. It's the damping that's adjustable on V2s & V3s, to tune handling of the car on stiffer springs to suit your style. If KWs are a 'must have' there are their Street Comforts, which have adjustable damping, and might give you what you want, tho' I've no idea what they're like. No point in spending money on an expensive exercise in disappointment, mate. Take a progressive route. -
Looks really nice! 8) I bought some cheapo crystal/reds but don't like 'em - look a bit naff, really. Inspired to do mine like yours now. Does it mean you've got red reversing lights, tho'?
-
Yes, please, mate :D Great help! PM your details and I'll organise the cash for you.

I'm already on the case guys.......... I'll get something together and post it up 8)

Thanks guys. Might have a crack at that 8)

ddibumper.jpg[/attachment:18hz639y] Saw this pic on the DDI site illustrating their cool front bumper. Anyone know what the headlights are or where to get them? I emailed DDI but got no answer :(

Anyone used one of these? *6 branch manifold*
Anton Sobriquet replied to MonkeyVR6's topic in Engine Bay
There's also this, more expensive, alternative:- http://dubpower.co.uk/Exhaust%20manifolds.HTM . I'd thought about fitting a 6 branch myself when the downpipe cracked on mine. I asked Vince at Stealth about power gains, as I was having cams and various other tweaks done at the time. Apparently, power gains are negligable, although I expect that's probably open to dispute here......... You'd think it would be ...or what's the point? It came down to a toss up between the time and effort to wrap one  and the convenience of the OEM. I opted for the latter in the end  -
