Oh and who here has left there G reg corrado outside the garage on Alysham Rd with a flat tyre for a while. I ouldn;t risk it

I think they are about £25-£30 from the dealer.

Just changed mine because i heard a clicking sound coming from the top side of the engine. Took off the old cambelt tensioner and it seiezed when i took it off :? Could have been really bad Here is what mine looked like, you can see the bearings collapsed. A give away is a rust colour in the cambelt cover and around the tensioner and cam sprocket. Just don't want any engines to go because of a £12 part. Beavisjem

I have brought some Kennedy stuff when i stripped out my car and its been a pleasure to use.

I would like to change the belt but it looks a bit scary, i don;t like timing and doing things that can mess your engine up. Might get some quotes for both. Yeah i think i know of the pic your on about, its of the cambelt but there is lots of swarf and rust, mine looks similar but not as bad.
-
cheers guys will have a go on monday What do i need to lock Just have the cambelt tight so it doesn;t move a tooth while i am taking the tensioner off

Have a strange knocking sound coming from the water pump cambelt area. Like a clicking sound, almost like a tappet (but its not) Took the cambelt cover off and it looked a little rusty around the tensioner. Its moving freely but i think its on it way, the belt looks fine (done 20000 ago) Can i change the tensioner without changing the cambelt? Is it just the removal on the (15mm, i think) nut. Slide off, new one on, tension up and tighten nut How long will it take. Beavijem

It should activate the central locking only if the door is shut.
-
pull out the fuse above relay 90, you wont have any e/w windows but your central locking will stop working. HTH

Silly me i meant turbo, G60 on the brain. Yep he has had it played with. Still quick

My friends dad has a lotus carlton and its a scary car. In third the rev needle goes up as quick as my G60 in 1st. 3.5L straight 6V with Twin superchargers. Pusshing about 468 Bhp for a 1.6 tonne car. The lucky thing is my friend works for Lotus so is able to source parts. Majical car, bit out dadted inside. Good ones are still around the 10k mark and most have been thrashed to death.

After respray and rebuild, what do you think?

Just take it real slow with a heat gun, i started by pouring hot water on the side strips to warm up the glue and then used a heat gun to melt the glue as i pulled the side moulding off, i got them all off ok but be carful with the heat gun as you can warp the mouldings if you heat them up too much. When i took mine off it did take a bit of paint off with them. Took me about a week to take it apart and another week to put it back together (silly winter daylight hours) -

Hi guys thanks for the comments, makes the effort and corrodo ownership really worth it. The spay job cost me £1000 cash. I must say i did strip the car and thats where i saved alot of money. Thats not me in the pic, thats the guy who lent me the trailer official Lotus cars one :-P I have left the plastic moulding off, i like it but i might be forced to put them on soon. Lupo wipers are a must, if you haven't done it you must. I ahve replaced the front crossmember for one that wasn't rusty. Just need one of the BBS centre caps (either somone stole it or it fell off) i think they are £21 from VW I don;t think the headlight are new just gave them a wash lol Still need a headlight loom And finnaly it will be off to see darren (g-werks) in the new year for a full service and a bit of magic Chip and pulley 8) Will give it the full polish etc later this week. Will keep you updated with pic etc and maybe see you at a meet sometime soon. Cheers and thanks again Beavisjem -
After taking all the windows and trim out and getting a full body respray i finally have got it back together and washed. This is it with no polish or wax just washed and shamoise (sp?)

Yes i did take all the glass out of my car, i decided i wanted the best finish, the guy who sprayed mine said he wanted the glass out. It took about 2 hours for each quater, just a big knife and lots of blades. I rushed the first window and cut throgh the seal that meets the door  so had to get another window. I also too the front screen out, i needed a new one any ways (big crack) so i just sat in the drivers seat and kicked it out, very satisfying. Hard work though. I also took the tail gate apart and all the spoiler mech out (it still works when i put it together ) also too the sunroof out to get that sprayed. (that works too :) ) The rear window is not too hard to take out. Going to clean it today so i might have some nice pics

One of the things i found when i got my car sprayed was some of the quote was on stripping parts of the car out. I stripped the whole car out, no trim no seats, just the dash left in. Because of this he took the doors, bonnet and boot lid off to spray them and the bumpers were off when he sprayed them. I also took the windows out. It was all a bit scary seeing my car in 1000 pieces, but i am so glad i did it, the price was for the prep and spray. I payed £1000 all in cash. I am very very happy with the finish. Basically he fixed the dents and rubbed it down, primer, waited for a week for the dents to settle, primered again and waited for any imperfections, fix and re primered and then base coat x3 and laquer and hardener. Problem is the materials, make sure they use good laquer and hardener otherwise your paint will look bad after a couple of years. The stuff my guy was using was £100 a gallon for the hardener and £100 a gallon for the laquer. Will get mine shined up and a few photos up. With the prep work i did on the car, most quotes were £1000 - £2000 I knew this guy so he did it for £1000 cash I also looked at an M5 BMW he had just done and it looked 8) so he was the one who got my money It was just one bloke, i went to a few garages and they had a couple of spanner monkeys who were too eager to get there hands on my car, :!: Beavisjem

Still having problems with my electric windows and central locking. It was working fine today and tripped again :( There was a couple of the fuses on the alram that blew. As well as the 20 amp window/c/locking fuse I was wondering if i could get a fresh clifford wiring loom and re install the alarm, the monkeys who did it in my car ahve really messed it up. (install before i got it) It is a Clifford concept 500 If anyone has instalation instruction can you pm me please thanks. They have put the brain in the kick panel in the drivers foot well and it a real bodge of a job, non of the trim sits right., Please help Beavisjem

Sorry to jump in here, I was wondering if you could give me some pointers. My lectric windows keep blowing the fuse above relay 90. It took me 4 to raise the window. I have been waiting a few days so it get warmer so i can have a look. Had a problem yesterday when i couldn't get the fuel cap off because the central locking is on the same fuse  Put a fuse in to activatet the central locking but it didn;t work either :( Didn;t blow a fuse either, What should i do and what should i look for when i test all the wires Beavisjem

Yeah just phoned vw and they say its suppose to have 2 silencers. Just checked the recipts i got with the car (sooo many :)) and found where the previous owner got the exhaust. AH HA Its supersprint from the cat back. mid section with no silencer and back box £394.56  Phoned up for a new mid section with out silencer and its £90.40 :) and thats stainless Exhaust unlimited wanted £120 for the same part but original. Only problem its going to take 3 weeks to special order the part from italy. Tempted for a de cat pipe (£104.39) But not a supersprint manifold £325.48 So just need to find somone in norwich with a tig welder to fix the crack till i get the new bits :) Happy ending :)
