Doesn't help now unfortunately but I've always used Paypal with people I don't know as they should insure transactions to a certain value and be able to track these people to reclaim your money (in theory anyway)

There's a comprehensive guide in the Wiki, defiantely get the remap done after tho if you want the best out of them

Stainless steel VR6 6-2-1 exhaust manifold - whats the best?
Mark_Storm replied to martyjmcfly's topic in Engine Bay
I didn't bother with the heat wrap and its not near anything that it could melt. There's no definitive answer on whether this is needed or not, but when I had a look at a few websites it seemed fairly pricey -
Am lovin in! Did about 400 miles over the weekend after I had it fitted, just a shame the weather was so crap. 10 days till I'm over to France, can't wait to have a go at my mate's Clio V6 now

Everyone I have spoken to previoulsy has had to cut out the support rail so I got Stealth to do it at the same time as fitting the uprated front mount. All sorted now, just got to touch up the exposed metal

Cheers supercharged, all sorted now

I've just stripped part of the dash out to play with the heater matrix and now every time I take the key out of the ignition the clocks reset. Everything still works so not got a clue as to what's wrong. Anyone got any ideas?

Let me just make sure I've read this right, the guy has paid you back £600 (less paypal's fee) but you still have the wheels. Is this right? If so, take the money he has sent but refuse to give back the wheels until he has refunded you fully for the postage. Paypal's always gonna take its cut but don't see any reason why you should lose out on the price you paid for the wheels in the first place. I bought some glasses that were fakes, the guy offered me 1/2 back, i refused and got nothing in the end. Got his account closed for fraud but didn't help me. You don't want that to happen if you've paid £700!

I've got a raceland fitted with a decat pipe, I'm away till the weekend but if you still don't have it sorted by then I'll have a look at how it fits and post up some pics -
Was thinking about giving this a go, and there's a very comprehensive guide in the WIKI but if you do get it wrong it could lead to serious problems. Considering it'll cost around £300 for the re-map I've decided to pay the extra to get the cams fitted at the same time which is about £200. Seems alot but if you do get it wrong then be prepared for a serioulsy big bill!!!

I've been ringing around recently. Not going down the charger route but got a pretty long list of mods. The best companies I have got quotes from allow any cosmetic mods and give you a bhp limit. Both Chris Knott (ask for John) and Brentacre (ask for Gary) gave me a 230bhp limit for 830/850 on a 6k limit. Not bad considering I've had 3 accidents in the last 5 years, got 3 points and only just got 1yrs NCB! Another good one to try is HIC (ask for Martin). They couldn't be as competitive for me this time but I will keep them on my list for next year!

Never managed over 32. Managed to get it under 16 once tho in clear traffic Managed 45 out of my old mk2 gti 8v with 170,000 miles on the clock

3) Choke up the front wheels and raise the back of the car, spin the wheel and see if you can tell where it's coming from. I recently had a noise coming from the front left which turned out to be the protector plate thing scraping against the brake disc. Just bent it out a little and all was solved.

These say they are for a golf vr6. Do the 2.8 and 2.9 engines all run on the same cams?
-
I'm getting conflicting info on this but I htink you're right, it is only 2. The first one I ordered is neither of these sizes but G-Werks one fits spot on.

Thanks guys. Well I definately feel better knowing this is normal. I did get them to check the engine mounts which were OK. What uprated ones would you recommend?

I fitted my schrick manifold the other week (just the manifold, still waiting to wire it to the ecu and vacuum line) and after very little driving I took it into the garage for some other bits and they pointed out that it had been hitting the underside of the bonnet, luckily where it is reinforced. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas on what's causing it?

Awesome! I will be able to see in the dark soon :D

I ordered a raceland VR6 de-cat pipe and just taken the car to the garage to get it fitted but its too short. Apparently they come in 3 different sizes?? Anyone had thi problem in the past?

I am just about to have a go at this, try this link for some more helpful instructions with photos: http://www.corrado-club.ca/mods/schrick.html

I bought a pair of the same LEDs for about £7 off ebay. Relays seem cheaper than any on the bay though

The 33-2032 is the one you need, the 33-2029 is for the G60: http://www.knfilters.com/search/appsearch.aspx

I paid £315 for my Magnex but I think they're about £340 now. Well worth it though. Fits perfectly and sounds awesome! Nice little grumble when you're putting your foot down, especially aroun 2500-3000rpm but pretty much silent when cruising on the motorways. Would highly recommend them. Check out last month's PVW for a review of them and their factory

I haven't sorted out the system in this car yet as I've been blowing lots of money on other stuff. I have upgraded the headunit to a Pioneer (mainly for the bluetooth car kit to avoid the points) and it's a hell of lot better than my original, although that didn't take much. I've had a Pioneer before and reckon the sound's much better than Sony ones I've had. In my last golf I did my own install with upgraded components all round, 2 10" subs and 4 6x9s on the parcel shelf (home made) with 3 amps. Sounded awesome but could only listen to it at about 1/3rd volume. Personally I'm not than keen on the stealth shelves, ok for some stuff but not sure if they're heavy enough to take the power some people want to put through them. From reading other threads here it would appear the best way to get a good sound is to concentrate on some really good front components and a sub for the base, and then just use the 6x4s as a fill in. Any comments from you guys?

I have heard of this and it is definately possible but don't know where you could get them, might just have to google it
