  1. Check out the VR cooling thread Mike, its stickied in the Engine Bay section. But it sounds like a sensor is knackered.
  2. You must mean the icing Greggs put on belgian buns. That stuff is lethal!
  3. Ditto that. Unless you are planning on track use then its just not worth it. The pads will get munched much quicker.
  4. If you look on the back of the fuse box cover it lists all the fuses and what they relate to. Bit late now I know, but useful for next time.
  5. Yeah, its good fun having a fight with £50k+ cars....I had a play with a SL Black the other week in Crawley, 500+hp, but he didn't pull away from me that much either. Though I have to say his looked effortless whilst my wheel was torque steering all over the place! They sound amazing on full chat, more like a prop-plane than a car. edit - it was an SL, not a bargey CL!
  6. No, that is totally separate. I have my door in bits atm, door handle (to open the door with) stays in place attached to the door, then the door card goes on and finally the pull with the mirror switches (late models) screws over the top.
  7. If I go for a 10psi pulley, do I need to uprate the tensioner, or do I just need the smaller pulley? (V9-F). I only ask as Vortech don't seem to make the 7 rib ones for VWs any more, so I'd have to get one custom built.
  8. I think it is :) Sorry, but to me it looks unfinished. Black primer anyone...?? Well the pictures in the other thread do make it look like the matt black paint was sprayed straight on top of the original colour with no prep. Not sure if that's true or not, just what the photos make it look like. Knowing the garage that did it, I'd say it was sprayed straight over the top. They cut so many corners they end up going round in a circle!
  9. And results. P*ssed I didn't think of doing a screengrab before now. Bum.
  10. Well, barring an utter disaster from Jazzdevil next week, looks like he's got it won. If it does go awry for him, I'm there waiting in the wings! I'm gonna get the trophy ordered soon, plus a wooden spoon for last postion as its Joe. :salute: Results table update to follow later when I can get home and can be bothered.
  11. a nice idea but id sooner keep the wiper to clear the back window so i can see out of it :D i agree....pointless mod i think. you guys don't drive fast enough
  12. Nope. I was really surprised as it was $27 on the website, they mention nothing about sending to foreign countries so I took a chance, my money was taken and it turned up! It worked out about £17.50. About 100 times more than a rubber grommet, but imo, 100 times better too.
  13. Any links to any? I would like to do this also. Matt The Delta Force has it on his VR, or had it on his valver, I can't remember which.
  14. x2 Tbh, if you're keeping your car just get the hole welded and painted over.. looks soo much better than any of the above solutions. This is more for people who don't want to pay for welding and paint (like me, I'm not made of money! :) ). Also, it'd be nice to know if you ever wanted to put the wiper back on you could. I also found that after an energetic wash, the sealant under the grommet would have pulled away a bit and start to let water in. This way is much more hard wearing. Not me, I've got mine already! :D
  15. If like me you have removed your rear wiper for that cleaner look but don't fancy a respray, then you might be interested in this. I was never satisfied with the rubber grommet and silicone sealant solution and wanted something a bit classier that I could rely on not to let water in. I was surfing the Vortex when I came across this cool little anodised alu grommet made by Verdict Motorsports. $27 gets you this: 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSC02601.jpg[/attachment:1wpi1x1i] 12300865321201875391123.jpg[/attachment:1wpi1x1i] Yes, it comes in black climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfDSC02643.jpg[/attachment:1wpi1x1i] A much better solution that will screw into the hole and has a rubber seal to stop water ingress. Get yours here: http://shop.verdictmotorsports.com/product.sc?categoryId=13&productId=123 Enjoy!
  16. It's water injection, a fine spray just upstream of the TB. Cools the airflow and lowers combustion chamber temps. I recall earlier in this thread Kev Haywire introduced a newer, better product from Schimmel which offers better watermist flow control than the Aquamist which is a bit pricier too. I have the Schimmel water kit and its a great piece of kit. Its fully adjustable. You can choose the strength of the injection from 1-10, and it can be triggered by boost or throttle voltage, again, fully adjustable. The pump is huge and savage and injects a hell of a lot of water! I personally would go turbot if I had the chance again, yeah its a bit more work, but the rewards are better in the long run. Back then, like you, I wanted something that easily bolted on, around 290ish bhp and had been done lots of times before. I suppose I could sell the charger now and start again, but I don't really have the cash these days. I'm struggling to even run the rado atm, no payrise and buying a house is taking its toll on monthly outgoings. I'd rather give up smoking than sell the car tho, and I think I might have to!!!
  17. Yeah, they are bigger, but you will get used to it, I don't even notice them any more when I get in my car. I also think they improve the sound by a lot with the bigger speakers. The only people who'll have trouble will be the superchunky, but then I guess getting in and out of a rado is difficult enough! No offence meant to anyone. :D
  18. Thru the sunroof? Auto closure is a good thing :D
  19. H reg in traffic just outside Thornton Heath yesterday about 6pm. Flashed and got a wave back.
