My Pearl Ghey 16v Gone :( - Introducing "Annie"

Sweeeeet. 8) But are you trying to show us your shoe collection too? -
I live in Gipsy Hill which is the other side of Crystal Palace, but I lived in Purley for 16 years (Grovelands Road, near the bowling alley/fitness first) and Coulsdon for another 6 or 7 years before moving out here, so I know all that area really well. Oh and I work in Croydon too, what joy. You ever driven the Coulsdon High Road to the top Reigate Hill? One of my fave roads that one, though its very hard to get up to the speed limit! Check out the vid below, its taken on that road heading thru Chipstead towards Coulsdon (and there's a longer one too if you check out my user profile on youpoop) We should go for a cruise sometime..... Sorry, not a cruise, that's for the kids on thursdays, I meant a drive. 8)

Hey mate, where abouts in Croydon are you, that's my neck o' the woods.

Done a few bits and bobs recently, just getting the interior looking a bit less shabby. From this: To flat controls and no chavvy gearknob! Heater controls, the one that was slightly more broken got cannibalised.

Can't actually remember which specific ones I had as it was in my last C where my 6x9s got nicked and I sold the fronts to a mate for cash, but I think I had the S series in the front and the R in the back, with a 4 or 5 bias to the rear to even out the sound and not overdrive the fronts. Never got round to changing the door ones, but I did run some Fusion 6.25s(?) in my old astra and it gave good punch, and these are the ones that are going into my audioscape pods. The fronts are definitely worth changing as I reckon that's where most of the sound actually comes from, the rest of the speaker being filler for the lower frequencies. At any rate they are the closest to your ears so you want a decent sound coming from them. I'm not running 6x9s atm, only a sub (again alpine with an alpine amp) and frankly I'm missing that bit of mid, hopefully the audioscapes will sort that out. I will report back when i can be arsed to shave off the last few mms so the speakers fit.

I have a 4x60w Alpine too (diff model tho) and can't fault the sound. Crisp and well defined and if you couple it with Alpine speakers, its awesome sound for the cash. Its loud enough on its own to kick out the tunes, but not to unbearable levels. I don't have to turn my ipod up full (thus ruining the sound quality) to still get my speakers moving serious air. Go get one mate, I've had mine in my last 4 cars! Like others say, start with a good base for best sound.

Cheers to r4-ge for quick posting and helping me get a nicer interior!

pwned. Surprised you stopped there..... Power tools are great fun, you feel like you could take on the world when using them. Its a great feeling of satisfaction to slice a car to pieces. 8) Actually I found it very similar to shooting an AK. That same feeling of YEAH!!!!! F*CKING HAVE IT!!!! once its all over and everything is in pieces    (disclaimer: i have only ever shot guns at a range or clay pigeons and would never shoot a live target.) Plasma cutters are a laugh too, carving graffiti in the body work before you annihilate it with precision. :)

Fuel gauge in litres? No spare tyre poking up in the boot? -
Oooh, I may have started an internet rumor! I'm not sure where I got that bit of info from, so I would definitely check it out before trying it. Maybe buying some dead tyres and wheels from a scrappy and putting those on would be better?

:2gunfire: Actually you make some very good points, it seems old Ken is set on generating a larger source of revenue while not really thinking properly about the consequences of his new rules. Yes, while it may reduce the congestion it is not properly thought out at all. As stated it the Porker website, it may force people into selling their one big car and buying two smaller ones and does not discriminate on useage - one flat fee no matter how far in you go, be it a few yards or to drive to London Bridge. They estimate it at £6000 if you drive every day! That is going to cripple any small business that have a few vans. Public transport is a workable alternative, but what with prices shooting up in the last few years with no real improvement in quality or quantity of service; coupled with fact it is already at breaking point in rush hour (ever tried to get on a bus at Brixton or a tube at Victoria? its more akin to rugby scrum) leaves masses abandoning their cars no cheap or stress free solution. And public transport rarely delivers you door to door. (except in my case! 30 yards from bus to Traf Sq, 3 mins from train to Viccy and LB :D ) But none of this applies to me anyway as I don't work in the city anymore. No fighting the crowds! WOOO! :D

Get it as empty of fuel as possible as it will go off, disconnect the battery or leave it on a trickle charger. Leave the handbrake off so it doesn't rust in place. I think the flat spot thing can be cured by letting some pressure out of the tyres? Sure there's other stuff too, but that's all I can think of now.

Yeah, the spoiler looks cool, but i can't imagine it saving too much weight, its not like the spoiler is made from cast iron. Late bonnet a-go-go!

Beer, pizza and your face in a woman's lap. Does it get any better? Maybe if you were awake. Edit - just spotted what's on the floor too....nice work!

Cool to see you're not worried anymore, it sounds like its in good nick and if it start every time and has no niggles, then it sounds like it could easily make it to 300k! As for the splitters I think maybe GSF sell them? If not them then some similar sounding company does.

Welcome matey, we're all a friendly bunch here, the fact you have a Skoda is good - VAG all the way! If you had a Ford on the other hand......  You'll find its a buyers market at the moment, lots of cars being broken recently means prices have tumbled, with only the g60 keeping its price. So you could probably pick up a VR6 project for not too much. There's a great buyers guide in the Knowledge Base link and tons of general info too, so check it out.

I always thought AMG were Mercedes-Benz?!?

Junkie, that headunit looks sweet! So cool and retro. 8) If I was looking to replace my beloved Alpine, this would probably be it, but I'm not going to, it may be old, but its a 60 watt beast with excellent sound quality. What the hell does a 24-bit player do different then?
