  1. Kris, Fay, a rear ender...... I'm sure there's a joke in there but I'm not sure where...... :? Bad luck guys, but easily sorted and at least it wasn't some mondeo driver who'd probably fight it to the end not to pay out!
  2. Gorgeous! Don't suppose you want rid of those wheels? Absolutely love them! :luvlove:
  3. I work for a VW dealer and I think the prices are a complete joke, how anyone would want to spend £24k on a golf (let alone £30k+!) baffles me. That said the new golf and polo's are a huge step up in quality, easily as good as Audi in most areas, and I've got a mk5 and owned a mk4 in the past. I'd go for the golf gt tdi 140, with the dab radio and standard interior for just over £17k. Easily the best of the bunch and you'll never know the difference between that and the 170.
  4. Shut it you! :nono:  I think the modern engines have a huge amount of potential but VW cater for the average Joe who just wants to get to B and isn't interested in redlining in every gear. On the other end of the madness spectrum, look at the motorbike would. Most of the new sports machines spin up to about 18,000rpm which is crazy, F1 speeds on a road bike... sorry a bit off topic but just thinking about people that put hayabusa engines in Mk1's, awesome.
  5. Share my car if you want? Although if you crash it, I'll defile mincy, possibly by knocking one out in the glovebox. I'll come along as a passenger, I'd hate to do any damage to your car incase you do damage to me! :(
  6. Would love to come on some more trackdays mate but my C is currently in bits so I won't be back on the road until about August I think!
  7. what discs have you got for them mate? is it the ibiza carriers that are a different offset or are the ibiza discs a different offset? for example, I used a set of Lucas callipers from a Golf VR6 and a set of 288's discs from a late mk3 golf gti and I'm still running standard Corrado VR wheels.
  8. Gutted for you mate, but if everything is working fine with the V9 then I'd just get yourself another block (or even better a low miles AAA lump) and whack it in there. No doubt you've spoken to Dave but if you need the car back on the road in a hurry and on the cheap I'm sure he's got something in the workshop that you can steal...
  9. 288's should be a direct fit onto a VR mate, no need for spacers. Did you replace all the bolts at the same time? Could be wrong length bolts maybe? edit - just re-read the first post. What did your 288's come off?
  10. Mincy does love a shiny under carriage..... :norty:
  11. Very cool, sure there was another thread somewhere about people having more than one C and ending up spending more on the daily! Good work mate.
  12. Is the car moveable mate? I'm happy to help if I can, and I'm sure we can round up a few others.
  13. What. The. Hell! Right this is ridiculous, have a beer, have a sit down and think about this seriously. You've put way too much into this to give up now, and definitely too much to break it up. If it comes down to it I'll have it! Now go and get that beer and come back to it with a fresh look.
  14. best of luck tomorrow mate, it'll be worth all the hard work you've put in. And remember Mandy, enjoy it!
  15. Gutted for you mate, hope everything with he insurance works out ok and you can get on with buying another one. :(
  16. We've got one in as a demo as well Joe, and I agree that it is extremely impressive (can't wait to try the Scirocco) but I'm afraid I agree with Andy more. There is no way in hell that I'd spend £27-32k on either, it's almost criminal that they are asking that much. To put it into context today I've been driving a 3.0TDi S-Line A5, now that has way more toys, better quality, quattro system, does 0-60 in 5.9secs and was yours for just over £30k. Hate to say it but there wouldn't be a choice if I was spending that sort of money I'd be heading straight to Audi/BMW/Porsche etc Sorry VW
  17. Burger me! I'll get my coat.................. :(
  18. Why stop there, I'd go for a GT Supersport engine mate. An extra 21bhp and an extra 100lb/ft of torque! In a Corrado that'd be about 450bhp per tonne....
  19. Well in a turn up for the books (a client day near where I live) for the last few days I've had this little beauty as my company run around! (certainly a change from the golf bluemotion) Its a Continental GT Speed, 6.0 W12 with 2 turbos. Makes a modest 600bhp and 750lb/ft of torque and it goes rather well for a large car. Thankfully it also came with a fuel car as I've managed an average of 17mpg and that's with me being extra careful. Not sure about the colour but man alive it's an amazing car. Sounds epic when you start it and put your foot down but wafts silently along at 80mph if you want. Took mrbeige out in it last night and I think he was impressed to  Anyway thought you guys might like a quick look, I'll try and get a few more pics whilst its on the drive if anyone is interested.
  20. Nice one mate, and you'll have a full 4 days off work to hoon around in it!
  21. I thought the Ed30 was just a remap of the old GTi engine. The new Scirocco and Golf R's use the Audi S3 motor but a bit of a tweak to get 265bhp out of the scirroco and 270bhp in the golf.
  22. We had a TTRS in the other day at work, Roadster version with all the toys which had a list price of £55k which is a joke! As for mk5 GTi vs Scirroco, I've driven both and had a scirocco as a company car for a few weeks and I would say the scirocco is the better handler and it is a significant notch up in build quality over the mk5 golfs but they are holding their values really well and I don't think it's worth the extra £7k over the Mk5 Gti Edition 30. Just my 2p
  23. haha, I'm rubbish at sticking with one plan! Well the one thing on the corrado's appeal is the rarity factor, saw 3 E46 M3's on the way home this evening and I've not seen 1 corrado in 6 months of doing that route..... Plus one came past (and cut me up) at speed so I had a listen and wasn't that impressed by the noise. Hoping to get a run in it tomorrow but if I don't like it apparently it's off to auction as it's too old to go on our forecourt.
