Well I've just got a quote on the car in question and it'll be a massive £1050 Fully Comp for me with over 10years no claims and limited to 5k miles a year. My C is currently £270 FC with declared mods which I guess proves Kev's point that some bugger is going to nick it, and as I have no garage they won't have much trouble! Just been to check on the valeters, still reeks of smoke and he's saying it drove funny on his little drive to bring it round to the workshop......but he also moaned about the GT3 we had in and that thing drove fine when I was in it so I think he just doesn't like anything with a harsher ride. Hopefully we'll see tomorrow. Oh and this one is Silver with the standard 18" wheels and red leather, not my fave combo but oh well

 whoops, forgot I'd said that in the other thread! That's what I'm worried about as the Corrado is now a member of the family, not sure I could do it to old Mincy and replace him..... :(
-
Hmmm, turns out it was owned by a smoker. Waiting for the valet guys to give it the once over to sort the smell, then i can take it out for a run!
-
Mines been doing this for pretty much as long as I've owned it, it starts second time everytime when it's kind of half warm..... Loads of people have looked at it including my local VW stealer and no-one has the answer, but i've just got used to it now so don't notice myself turning the key twice. Be very interested if you find a solution!

Anyone owned one/driven one etc? I was considering one a while ago but eventually forged on with my VRT plans, but through work we've had one traded in against a porsche and the salesman managed to screw the guy right down on trade-in price so I've now got the chance to buy it mega cheap. It's a '02 model E46 with FSH but 120K on the clock, completely standard and seems to run really well and we're talking about £2.5-3k cheaper than anything similar on Autotrader. I'm going to take it for a spin later to see what it's actually like but this could be a contender to the VRT project which is bound to cost me more in the long run.......

Absolutely gorgeous mate, a credit to all the hard work you've put into it. :salute:

I know, I know! I am doing it.....Promise!

To make the power they wanted and also meet eu4 emmissions, VW had to get more air through the engine, hence drafting Cosworth to design the 24v head. Without the trick inlet and variable cams, the 24v is even flatter than the 12v 'off cam'. with all that extra flow in the 24v head I bet it would turbo well...... Plus you'd get that nice chopped up turbo noise!

100% agree, I've never bought one and never will. Just keep the car clean inside (no food rule in my vr as well) and it'll stay smelling nice and fresh...usually with a hint of heavy braking in mine! As a beside, I think a lot of VWs smell very similar up to about '98....

yeah happy with 8.30 tonight.... ... never been on a photoshoot....

FORZA 3: Week night Marathon (FIRST POST UPDATED)
mic_VR replied to Alex_G60_Fanatic's topic in General Car Chat
Really sorry guys, any chance of making it really late tonight (like 10pm?) or tomorrow as I've really busy at work right now and doubt I'll be home much before 9pm tonight.... If it helps I'll have loads of free time from next week onwards as work will be back to normal then. -
Lucky old me has the chance to drive quite a few very nice cars through work at the moment and all I can say is you've got to spend some serious money to get something that beats the Corrado for driver feedback and that connection that you're all on about. Recent cars include: 997 Turbo, R8, M3 (V8 version), RS6, Aston Vantage, Gallardo, Continental Supersport....... in fact I drove an R8 V10 the other day and that could definitely tempt me away from the Corrado, but then I'm never going to have the spare £125000 to have to worry about that particular choice! And if you factor in a something like a VRT then you're got classic Corrado handling and presence and sports car performance.... that's why we're all on here raving about them.

Mate, sorry to hear you pulling out of the league. If it's any consolation I managed to come 2nd to last (except for Neil who was attacked by some stray lag!) again this evening although it was a very good race. We're very rarely getting a full 8 people mate, just pop on if you can rather than quite the whole league if I was you. -
Good luck matey, can't wait to have my first run out in it!

I love my 288's, miles better than the original 280's even though my 288's are standard discs and the 280's were grooved/drilled etc. They survived 4 laps round the ring and a session at Snetterton where I managed to hustle a Impreza WRX out of my way and they are still all good, but as Vince has said, and I've said to anyone who's asked me, when you make the change make sure you do a full brake fluid flush and bleed (proper pressure bleed ideally) as that will make as much difference as discs and pads.
-
Wow, those plots are a lot closer than I thought they would be. Very impressed at how smooth the torque curve is on your VRT vince, do you think that's down to the use of the standard manifold?

Institute of Advanced Motorists....anyone a member?
mic_VR replied to JMC's topic in General Car Chat
I've been a member of the one here in Cambridgeshire for the last 18 months or so mate and they are very good. Its run by volunteers (usually ex-cops) who you arrange a time to get together with and they help you prepare for your advanced test, they also do help with the classroom stuff and all the admin etc and you just pay test fees/coursework cost as necessary. I did my advanced car test years ago almost straight after my original test as I passed with only 1 minor (rule used to be - pass with 4 minors or less and you were automatically able to sit the advanced test within 6 months) and had the luxury of my dad who's been in the police for over 35 years to train me. So I actually joined the local club to build back up my motorcycling skills after a long absence away from bikes. Although I'm still only using my dads bike it has been brilliant at building up my confidence and I feel both quicker and safer on the roads. On the bikes they usually follow you around on a ride out to see how you're getting on but I've no idea what they do for the car side, probably sit in while you just drive around. Obvious advantage is insurance cost (£257FC on my standardish VR) but if anything I think the feeling of knowing I'm as safe as I can be is worth more than the financial savings. Do it! -
This kit is almost enough for me to change my own plans, looks superbly thought out. Hats off to you Vince :salute:

The CF Forza 3 Race League, Final League Standing Pg 1
mic_VR replied to Yandards's topic in General Car Chat
How about picking a specific car as well as a specific track for each week. ie: Le Mans, Porsche 997T etc and then everyone has a chance to practice and the cars should all be even stevens! In the tuesday night league we have the Corrado race, then we always have a couple of races with us all in the same cars (usually Datsuns!) that way we get about 2hrs of gaming action. Walesy - what's your gamertag mate? We're sometimes short on players on a tuesday evening so maybe you'd be able to join in with us?
