Cheers mate, it was inspired by lilfuzzer at BVF. His VR is looking really sweet with the welded up wiper but I couldn't go that far so Chris' (Vag-Hag) suggestion of a Halford bung has worked quite nicely. A trip to Toads on the cards then? We'll add it to the list of things to do eh? :salute:

Prefer looking at your back end... How is Mincy? Aww you're making me blush. Mincy is good, although I'm so busy with house stuff I've not had a chance to do all the things I wanted to since I got him back, like the interior clean, clean the arches and sorting the paintwork but still enjoying the drive of the 24v. Must pop down to see you soon, might drag mrbeige down as well.

Removed the rear wiper mech, quite like it....

Yeah I'd get another ME7 ecu from somewhere and just swap them over. You say you've got a custom code running on it so they should install it on the new ecu for you for free? (i'm fairly sure Revo do) edit - ecu can't be more than £200 secondhand surely? Only thing I would ask is what made the ecu go pop? Best of luck mate, I'm loving my 24v at the moment so much so I'm amazed so many end up selling them!

Hey mate I just noticed you're now in Cambs, where abouts? Loving the build by the way, but then I loved the ABF build when you had that as well..... think it's the black track mk2 thing...

That's a bit rubbish, I'll keep an eye out for you mate. What did the paintshop say? I assume the police are involved etc?

Agree, used a super cheap broker when I first started driving and almost got stung when I got hit by a drunk driver. Lucky for me my brother works for a broker and ran them so ragged they paid up but I thought I was going to get nothing. I used Brentacre this year and I have to say the were excellent. Get on to Gary there for a quote, really good lad and owns a mk2 golf so a proper enthusiast.

Did think about steam cleaning, worried about damaging something though. Having never steam cleaned anything in my life, what do I need? Is it like a pressure washer so you can attach detergents? Cheers for the tips guys, might have a go at a front seat this evening

Morning all Now I've got my C back on the road I thought I'd treat it to a bit of tidy up in all areas, starting with the interior. So basically I'm after some suggestions of good products and techniques for sorting things like dusty cloth seats, marked headliner/sunvisors, leaves in vents, dashboard plastics cleaning etc etc anything interior wise. And also time wise how long jobs should take, will I be able to clean a seat tonight after work etc? I've got some brand new VAG mats so I'd like to tart the rest up a bit to make it all match (kind of) All help much appreciated as always, cheers guys. Mic

Well the numpties over at DirectLine have managed to lose my Cat 1 alarm certificate for my car so I now need to get it retested/certified for my new insurance. Anyone know of anyone in cambridge area who might be up to the task? Cheers Mic

What brakes you running on this mate? Amazed you've been able to fit beetle steels over what look like 4 pots? Top work!
-
That's married life for ya! Looking forward to catching up at the national day, unfortunately we won't be able to make it until Sunday. You still going on Saturday?
-
I'm sure he'd be happy to make more mate, either PM him or Dave as I can remember exactly how they got it all to fit. Must admit I was really thinking about the noise as I'm still going to turbo it, but it's a very very welcome turn up for the books that it does sound so good as I'll be driving it around like this for a couple of months to iron out any issues that crop up. Must get over to see you mate and return the favour of that ride out. You've got the 6 branch on yours haven't you?

100% agree, easy to get hold of. Only problem is the exchange rates at the moment. I was lucky and got $2:£1 but currently the 2.5" with Dual Borlas is $650, plus $150 shipping/packing etc is $800 at todays rate is £515 before duty and VAT so not cheap. Anyone thinking about one though I would say it is beautifully made, fits perfectly and easy to adjust, also it's all 2.5" so no restrictive kink over the rear axle. Finally its only 9-10kg when compared to well over 20kg on the standard system. I'd happily pay the money again if I needed one.

Can I be put down as a possible for this please, really need to get my AP's fitted now and these look like they'll fit the bill perfectly.
-
Glad you liked it mate, was nice to drive a 12v straight away after as well to give a back to back feel for it. And yours is a lovely example which makes it even better, only downside is your brakes have highlighted just how poor mine really are. Must get the 4 pots fitted ASAP! It certainly has travelled well, if anything the low down rumble has increased slightly but thankfully out on the road and cruising its still lovely and quiet. That exhaust really was one of my best purchases, thanks to Kev for pointing me in that direction. Glad you all like it, I'll be sure to get the rest of the info/videos up soon and anyone coming to the CCGB national day is welcome to have a quick spin to see what you think.

Yep but Graham's made a custom exhaust manifold for the 24v conversion. I'll do a full write up when I get time but thought people might like the noise. A while! It really is an excellent job Dave and Graham have done though, I've got a video of the Castle Combe session and a trip from the DG office around some back roads which shows how well it handles now.

Get the decent speakers on and turn it up!

Just a thought mate. When Dave was wiring up my 24v he noticed the N156 valve was missing. I've never heard of it but apparently it controls the switching between the long/short runners on the variable manifolds.... hate to ask but have you checked this on yours? Maybe its malfunctioning and having an effect on what runners are in use and when?

Think their biggest issue is they've not got a huge team working on it, and whilst the system is down they can't have stock moving about as that would be a nightmare to sort out. Stock movement is the problem, not the computer system, i'll be speaking to my old colleagues to see how it's going as it's a really interesting process they're going through. The system they're moving from (dialog) was designed in the 60's so you can just imagine how clunky it is, and the new system is all singing and dancing etc so it'll be a learning curve.
-
Incentives offered for cashflow reasons, as Andy has said, as dealers are being told that stock will not be available to search/move/sell for the duration of dialog being down and NVS being installed. Dealers can't exactly close for 3 weeks so the manufacturer has to do something to get them through (plus this bargain stock is out of the new stock system - effectively now used stock - which makes the new implementation a bit easier) As for the 3 weeks needed - you are looking at an extremely complicated stock management system. The IT part will already be installed at each dealer by now but the physical process of moving thousands of cars from one system to the other, plus hundreds of thousands of customer details, hundreds of dealer details etc and to get all the accounts to balance is a huge task. I've recently moved from being a dealer accountant at a VW branch (2 weeks ago) and was part of all the meetings/planning/training etc in the build up to this and I'm so glad i'm not there to take part in it as although I think it'll be a fairly smooth process, any potential problems could be disasterous if not corrected quickly. When they did this changeover at Seat/Skoda last year there was one dealer who accidently purchased over £1M worth of vehicles in a single day due to a system error so the numbers we're talking per VW dealer is pretty high. On the plus side if average Joe can get a bargain, then all the better.

I think Kev will tell you the DS2500s are generally thought to be the best pads but give a lot of brake dust. I'm sure Kev will be along in a bit to give his verdict. If it helps I've got yellow stuffs on my ap's but I've not had a chance to try them yet!

Ah the swap over to NVS, forgot that was happening.... so glad I'm missing out on this!
