  1. Yes but BMW, Merc and Audi owners get automatic dispensation from all but the most serious of road traffic infringements so I'm not sure it'll help to make the HC law......
  2. Well I've only got the lowly 2.8 24v conversion, not like you R32 boys!...... so not sure this is any help but I'm getting about 33mpg on a long run at 75-80mph and averaging 29-30mpg over a whole tank. I'm averaging 375 miles between fills with a mix of motorway and spirited B road driving.
  3. Love it, love it, love it! A long overdue thread, wasn't sure how in depth you'd go when you started putting up pics and timeline stuff but I think its brilliant to see what we've seen so far. I know you're not into the whole magazine features thing but this really would be miles better as a feature car behalf the stuff that the put in things like golf+, something with a history and true technical competence being used to make the best car you can. With the mapping, if you were to do it again would you still go standalone or go for OEM remapped ecu's?
  4. Still think it looks good on the Comps, but there was something about those Rota's that just suited your car. And for 24vT action. Keep your eyes open in the run up to christmas. Got a few issues still to sort on the 24v install and I've got to fit my new brakes/wheels to clear them, plus I'd like to put another 500 miles of trouble free motoring on the new engine just to make sure it's all good. Then it's Turbo time! Finally! I'll be picking your brain no doubt so you'll know when it's all going in.
  5. Nice car Kev, a testament to your hard work and dedication to improvement. A definite inspiration for my car plans and always a great source of technical answers...... still I can't help prefer the Rota's slightly.....
  6. Wouldn't say I was bored with mine but I do have a massive urge to get back into motorbikes. My main problem is storage where I live. I'd love to get mine 100% sorted but keeping it out on the street all the time means it gets a new blemish on a seemingly weekly basis. At least I could get a motorbike into the back garden.
  7. Yes because I've got a picture of your car as my screen background! It's the one from the 'best pic of your car' thread....
  8. Massive thanks to C488ADO. Got my iPhone 4 this morning, exactly as promised and perfectly packaged. Absolute pleasure to deal with, cheers mate. :notworthy:
  9. Agreed. With our other car we insure with DirectLine and we always phone around but have never been able to beat them. When my VR was standard I paid £260 fully comp, parked on the street in a city centre with DirectLine, but the problem is they stay well clear of anything non-standard. I'd happily stay with them if they'd insure me as you know exactly where you are with someone like them. I'm currently insured through Brentacre with the engine conversion for £410 fully comp and still on the road, only thing I'd be worried about is the policy is underwritten by someone I've never heard of.
  10. I'm added..... I'm under the tree on the left as you drive into the city...
  11. Me and the wife love it, brilliant idea!
  12. Love American muscle cars, quite a few of them I'd give up the corrado for. Really want a V8 as my next car.
  13. Fair enough mate, I don't think anyone can blame you if you fancy a change. Must admit I'm terrible for changing my mind on what to do with my C, I've been looking at RWD cars recently and also thinking seriously about moving back to motorbikes as I live in the middle of the city and have nowhere to leave my car which is really annoying after spending so much money on it (I could get a bike undercover in the garden). Best of luck with the sales and with the new car, let us know how you get on. Mic
  14. Agree with David, sounds like ignition. Get some WD40 and spray all the leads which should displace any water, then start and see how it runs.
  15. Oh dear, well at least the VR passed ok...... and i hope that neither car is hurt from a little foreplay.....

Abso-bloody-lutely! That bottom pic is superb. Love it! :luvlove:
  17. Very doubtful I would think with half decent driver high 8's possibly Have to agree. Thanks for the vote of confidence Phil but I'm nowhere near good enough to muster a 8 min run, even with 24vT power and big brakes. Most people who can get those times have done hundreds of laps in all conditions, where I've done 4 in real life and played a bit of xbox. There is a video of one of my laps somewhere, think I got a 11 min 15sec in damp/light rain in a standard VR.
  18. Loved it when we went a couple of years ago on the forum trip for the 20th Birthday celebration, would definitely be up for going again as would quite a few judging by this thread. Loving the pics and videos mate, can't wait to see some more.
  19. 100% agree, first time I drove my car with the new mounts in anger and the way it'll still change gear smoothly under hard acceleration/braking, plus a few mis-timed corner corrections and I'd suggest everyone gets new mounts. I'm loving my cars handling at the moment, just need more power. Would you not want both gearbox and rear mounts to be the same type (ie. both solid or both OEM) so that the engine moved in a linear fashion rather than more turning one way or the other?
  20. I guess it's subjective, I've smoothed out the engine by going for the 24v conversion which feels/sounds like its not even on compared to standard VR vibes..... but then I went for Vibra-Tech competition front mount and fast road rear/gearbox mounts so from a vibes through the seat point of view it's probably comparable to a standard VR, just without the rattles! But I love it that way. to the OP, your car sounds perfectly normal mate.
  21. Can't wait to see what you think to the Gaz Rob, but then whats next?
  22. Think you'll find almost every FWD car will have a wider track at the front mate. Unfortunately I'm out of this buy, love the wheels and price but just don't think I could get the funds together at the moment as I'm in the middle of a load of house repairs. Sorry guys.
  23. Today I had to get my car alarm recertified after DirectLine managed to lose my original certificate. Used a local company called CBS who were really helpful but wouldn't sign it off as they found some issues. Turns out my boot swtich and bonnet switch weren't working at all, the siren wasn't mounted correctly and the wiring under the dash was all messed up. Guy thinks it's been like that for ages under the dash and the siren mounting was a temp thing after the engine install as we were in a rush to get out on track at Castle Combe. Anyway all sorted now and in a turn up for the books I only got charged 1.5 hours labour and I think they spent at least 3 hours on it. Not often you get value like that these days. Highly recommend them to anyone in the Cambridge area. Top job!
  24. there's a high potentiality that'll get misconstrued as an invite My mistake, Its sometimes hard to type on these smartphones.... Bum?
