You may be right - but I laughed my bloody ar$e off!!   Damn straight! That and the 'Scirocco TDi - for people who like their arms' bit's were TV gold in my opinion. Haven't laughed that hard at something on TV in a long time.

I thought last nights was a brilliant episode. The noise of that supercharged VXR, the pure hilarity of those Scirocco adverts, and that beautiful V12 Vantage.... So I'm going to disagree with you Tracy, take it for what it is as an entertainment show losely based around cars and I think they hit the spot almost everytime, been a good strong series I think. Well done boys! :salute:

New wheels! That is all!

I'm guessing it's got 196,000 miles on the clock? tbh honest mate I think a lot of people will say keep with what you know. If it's mechanically sound and just got a few easy fixes everything else that can be a problem with a 196k mile car can be solved with little hassle. Selling this and getting another could just mean you have even bigger bills as it's a car that's unknown to you. At least you know where you stand with this one. I've seen cars with 90,000 on the clock that are complete dogs, and others running 170,000+ that are all working perfectly! Only thing I will say is that judging from your picture you need a 90mm splitter on the front, then it'll look very well indeed.

Might be worth a PM to crazydave Tom, I think he might have a load already.

You're a clever man James, top work mate.

Yes I believe all the corrado light were made by Hella If you've got Hella stamped on them and they are tinted, then they are the originals that have been sprayed or covered in some way.

How's the Evo going now Pete? Went out for what my brother-in-law discribed as 'a proper drive' (ie. no one else in the car to tell us off) in his Evo 7 at the weekend. Seriously impressive car, and keeps putting thoughts in my head of going Jap!

Look at the graining on that tyre! Pushing it hard round Castle Coombe were you Fay? Good stuff!

DG Autotech can supply one for you as well I believe.

If you want to splash out I can highly recommend the techtonics tuning dual borla system for the VR6. Only problem is the rubbish exchange rate with the US at the moment. 2.5" straight through (no over axle crimp like so many mass made ones) with custom silencers. If you want to hear what it's like I can always pop over your way? Generally great burble at idle, stock quiet on the road unless you put ya foot down at which point you know about it! Only thing that isn't to everyone's taste is the stealthy plain round tailpipe.

Wonderful news mate, just goes to show how useful forums like this actually are. Just a shame you spent time/money at garages beforehand but I guess it was one of those faults that if you weren't in the know you can easily miss. Glad you're keeping it, now get out there for a nice drive in the sun!

Unfortunately mate I didn't win the stuff on ebay so I'll not be down your way now. Be good to meet up and get yours sorted. You go to any shows/meets at all?
-
We've got Little Chef, what more could you possibly want?!?

Will you lot stop going on about food, I'm trying to not eat my lunch before 11am for once! On a related note, due to an unforced error in the missus' shopping trip yesterday our ham supplies have run out. Forcing me to have just cheese sandwiches........ what is the world coming to? :?
-
There is a chance I'll be heading to Guildford at some point to collect some wheels (ebay success dependent) so I'm happy to pop in and see if I can offer any help. We can always steal bit of my car to see if that helps.
-
Yeah a fault finding day could be the way forward. If I was closer I'd suggest a meet up as I've had all the usual running issues with my VR over the years including the stalling/lumpy idle/hunting etc so I'm used to checking all the relevant parts. Don't give up yet chap, especially as you've spent so much money. Hopefully it'll just be a small thing that's been missed.

Hate to ask but how much would you want for the Comps? I suspect more than I've got but I'll thought I'd ask! Very interested in this project though. Any plans once it's at a point where you happy with all the mechanical stuff? -
You've just got to bite the bullet mate. I've finally started sorting a time scale and buying more parts for my 24vT conversion..... it's just a case of jumping in. At least you know there is a few of us in the area to help you out when you need it? :salute: Dealerships tend not to have too much big stuff registered for "benefit in kind" reasons. There is a rocco but the business manager uses it. Benefits in Kind..... sounds like a tax fiddle to me!

I suspect a fox or polo mate. I happen to know the branch accountants for Vindis and even they only get Golf GTTDi's and stuff. But I'm sure you'll be working your way up in double quick time, plus it'll take all the strain of you used he G60. Strip down and rebuild time eh?
-
Nice one mate, so the cheap parts are on you then eh?!
-
What's the new job then Joe?
-
Thinking of selling up :( what would you buy?

I was expecting that to be awesome from the stats, but that 280bhp is hounded by a 2.2ton weight! Anyone driven one, wonder what it's like. Jim - If it was my money and I wanted to go very very fast for as little as possible I'm afraid the only place you can truely look is Scooby's and Evo's. Budget of £7000 gets you a Scooby P1, very rare, awesome handling and speed. Or a decent Evo 6-7, again very fast, great handling and speed but not exactly rare. The only major problem I have with these kinds of cars is that they are very highly stressed, trying to eek 350+bhp from a 2 litre, high service and running costs plus the usual 'image' problems. After doing a trackday in a WRX and Evo 8 I was determined to get one but the wife said she wouldn't go in it so I guess I'm stuck with the Corrado and doing the 24vT conversion. I guess at the end of the day what do you want from the car? Exclusivity? Speed? Handling? Modernity? etc etc? Like I said earlier, I think you'll be surprised how little you can get in the performance car bracket for less than say £8K unless you go old, high miles, or popular.
