  1. If it's not feeling stable and if they haven't been done then I'd put a vote in for rear axle bushes, replacing mine made a massive difference. Top mounts also maybe? As already said it could be a few things but if it feels at all unstable at such low speeds I'd say it's something fairly major/obvious
  2. Does anybody know if the 12v VF brackets will fit a 24v R32? If not can the brackets be bought? I asked VF how much a kit would be to take my V9 off and put it on my R32 as a stage 1...$2000!! For a few bits of pipe and a rubbish Giac map, not a chance
  3. I'd be surprised if that was the case, rather embarrassingly before the first time I went to the 'Ring I spent a few nights driving around in my girlfriends Pug 306 wearing my helmet to get used to it, never got pulled over but got some very very strange looks. Funny how few people try and race you out the lights when your wearing a crash helmet :)
  4. Not a bad shout that, quite a few about now and massive power increase for not too much money Although I would say I much preferred the delivery and reliability of my 240bhp NA compared to my now charged 300bhp Much smaller powerband and bit of lag low down, not to mention excess heat and strain. A healthy VR with cams and a Schrick is a very enjoyable machine and eclipses most things you come across, I miss it a bit if I'm honest
  5. Yeah sorry I've also got lightweight pullies and a CF bonnet which is a huge chunk off but I realise it's a costly option, maybe not that easily removable then, although those bits would be close, battery weighs a ton and is in the worst place for handling. I went as far as taking off some engine lifting brackets and other little bits as they can be put back on easy enough, I put a plastic rocker on too which saves a touch and keeps the inlet mani a touch cooler. All adds up, easy to get carried away :)
  6. Sounds good, 61kg is a heck of a saving already, sounds like a little work needed on the front end though to even it up. 39kg can be had from the engine bay easily giving you a total saving of 100kg! Carbon cannister removal is free and easy but unfortunately only weighs 1kg, soundproofing weighs a little bit and does nothing to absorb sound, looks crappy too, lose that and with the fans and battery and it would pretty much do it. Front seats weigh an absolute ton but its not that easy finding good subframes for lighter replacements
  7. VW exhausts are good as standard so I wouldn't bother, the BMC CDA is an awesome addition and has been known to add up to 7bhp (doubtful) and one hell of a soundtrack As Jim said the Scimmel cams are the way to go, can be picked up from here for 200-300 every now and again then cost on top if you renew tappets, gaskets, pay for fitting, remaps etc You'll still notice a big difference just by chucking them in and running them though, map isn't essential
  8. I use AVS (vwspares.co.uk) all the time. It's all OE stuff mainly and for that I'd rate them higher then GSF and loads cheaper then VW
  9. Not sure on the TB I'm afraid, I know Kev (Haywire) had a really good one a long long while a go and knows the name of someone but it might not be too relevent now.
  10. Yep, plenty of sporty stuff and off roaders come with them fitted as standard Pretty sure you could remove an airbag and replace it with a spike and it would still pass an mot
  11. Newsouth powergasket is a good piece of kit but a bit of a pig to fit as it goes between the head and lower manifold which is a lot more work, unless of course you've got a polished lower bit to fit too. You'll hear people warble on about them not being reliable but that was ages ago, Awesome stock the Powergasket Plus now which is fine. You can mess about with porting and polishing but I wouldn't bother personally, Bigbore TB's make a good difference but I'd pay a proffessional to do it. I fitted a plastic rocker cover and covered the underside of the mani with DEI cool tape n mine whilst it was off to aid cooling, does make a difference. To give you an idea I've done all the above along with a 13 row Mocal, With a stage 2 Supercharger, no aquamist, no intercooler, and I just had to drive from London to Dorset with no fans working unfortunately...Oil was 86c, Water was 75c, all helps! :)
  12. The TB and manifold gaskets are metal and last really well, as long as they look good with a clean up I wouldn't bother. I've had 6 different mani's on my car and never had a problem, easy job, I know it's obvious but just make sure you don't drop anything down the open inlets when it's off.
  13. You could try and take off one of the smaller strips, think they're at the front from memory, about 6" long If It looks rubbish then just glue it back on
  14. ^^^^^^^^^^^ Awesome picture, great skills :notworthy:
  15. Speedline is the much much better looking wheel imo
  16. A few little bits that I found... Firstly it's well worth a trip up the castle, awesome views from the tower Secondly a few doors up from the BMW showroom in the town of Nurburg is a restaurant that does some of the best pizza's I've ever eaten, really cheap too so a good place to line your stomach after a few laps and before a few beers. Which leads me on to my next point, nightlife is aweful, only town close is Adenau which is where everyone goes when the track shuts, it has one very very bad club right at the far end opposite the motorbike place, it looks shut but bang on the door for a late night drink. All else fails have a few beers in the hotel and enjoy the free naughty telly which starts around 2am :)
  17. Get rid they look horrible, but remember to park miles away from the supermarket entrance :)
  18. Thanks mate, not to everyones taste but I like 'em
  19. Ah pants, I've fitted it now but don't think I'll bother with them in the future
  20. I was going to leave my standard stat in but fit the Neuspeed fan switch so they kick in a bit sooner Fan seems to get a bit caught out since fitting the VF, temps are higher then I'd like, might've been the nackered rad though You think that set-up will be ok Kev?
  21. Thanks for that, it's pattern and a Neuspeed switch so might use a bit for good measure
  22. Fitting a new fan switch to a new rad, comes with a card washer already, shall I slap a bit of sealent on the threads or pop it in dry?
  23. Always amazes me how those wheels just instantly make a car look absolutely wicked! My best pick of mine below VR.jpg[/attachment:1qoiziyq] Now on Palladium Grey BBS RC's though so needs another photo sessions, Teledials for sale if anyones interested...I'll put a proper thread up soon
  24. Thanks for that, I'll keep an eye open for those, Dual mass flywheel does my head in if I'm honest but all part of it unfortunately. Also cant stand driving by wire but I'm sure I'll get used to it
  25. Thanks for everybody for helping to make my mind up, I ended up taking a fairly strange route but I'm very pleased Instead of me selling my C and putting the funds in to a 12k R32 derivitive of some sort, I've kept it and bought an R32 Bora that has been doing the rounds in the classifieds for half the money. Cooler and obviously rarer then a TT, fully loaded, life of luxury and traction galore Absolutely nowhere near as fast as the C and completely dead to drive compared, doesn't sound as nice either but worth it just for last night when a kid in a Civic wanted to show off to his mates by racing the old mans Bora, warpspeed was activated and I'm pretty sure I could just about make him out blushing in my rear view  A happy compromise
