That's what I was thinking, although essentially it's still the same amount of air going through the TB surely, all gets a bit confusing :confused4:
-
I did but it's not in the best condition, been chopped and adapted a bit and I'm wary it may leak boost. I would run the charger - silicon hose - metal t-piece with recirc valve - silicon hose 63mm-76mm - then my 76mm bonrath up to the TB with another silicon hose, should look and sound nice and probably flow better but I am aware I should try and keep it 63mm right up to the TB, is it that much of a difference though?
-
Looks like the test drives tomorrow as some bits didn't turn up Question though...Would I be an idiot to keep my Bonrath PR on? Forget the fact it's metal as I'd heat proof the underneath I'm concerned I wouldn't be keeping the intake pipe 63mm all the way to the TB, would I be going to 76mm too soon and losing boost pressure or will it make little difference?
-
Coolio, Pretty much done then... Test drive tonight
-
That's where I've seen the picture, I knew I had it in my head for a reason :D If I'm honest I accidentally deleted your very informative PM so I couldn't double check, Was that for the recirc valve then?
-
Recirculating valve... Little vacuum port at the top of it, run a hose to the abs vacuum feed like a Schrick (little green caps) or does it need a feed from somewhere else? I've got it in my head to pop a Y piece into the line that comes off the FPR but I don't know why I'm thinking to do that :confused4: :D Any ideas? Does it even need a vacuum feed, I've looked at pictures of engine bays for the past 30 mins but can't figure it out
-
Cool thanks for that, exactly why I wanted to check first
-
Right everything is pretty much done, a million and one little bits I needed to collect, hoses, bungs, connectors etc I'd just to know if anyone can recommend anything to clean the inside of the charger with before I bolt it on, it has been sitting around for a while and the chap I bought it off had lost the caps to stop any crap getting into it. Carb cleaner? petrol? wd40 etc, or just give it a good blow through with an air hose?

M3's are unbelievably good but unfortunately they are 3 series' which means they are for ladies :camp: M5's they way to go even though it's not as good, I know that makes no sense but I didn't write the rulebook :D

I suppose at the end of the day we're all in the wrong place if we wanted balls out race bred track cars. The whole point of "the scene" is that we've got a bit more class then that. I still can't stand weight for the sake of it. They should start off with a weight in mind (no more then 1300kg in a Golf) and make the car as luxurious as possible whilst still staying within that bracket. That's why you've gotta give it to Porsche, they're not afraid to stick 2 fingers up at the fast lane cruising brigade and strip the hell out of their cars. Lets hope VW get involved now that it's one big happy family :) Anyway I could rant all day, I'm not about to buy anything Jap, or French for that matter, so I'll just have to get used to the fact that whatever I buy after the Rado will probably need a to go on a bit of a crash diet. And sorry to everyone for me taking this completely off topic :cuckoo:

Actually maybe not a grand, just noticed it finishes in a few hours, still though, it's already doing better then a normal listing would
-
:D Funny thing is, I can see that happening, Bet it goes for about a grand, he must have untold people watching it
-
What an absolute legend (with too much time on his hands) Thats made my day and also weirdly made me want to buy his car :)

Never realised the Astra was no good, all I know is they're annoyingly quick as standard, and if the chav next to me at the lights has a Regal sticker on his then it's probably gonna wipe the floor with me, not when I finally get the charger sorted  Deck chairs and clingfilm :) Haven't heard that before but they're probably both parts that Renaultsport use on a regular basis, saying that though they're becoming so good at what they do they're going to branch out to their own dealerships very soon I hear, that'll be pretty cool. Always forget about turbo's on the R32, some making frankly stupid power, loads in the States, obviously a great chassis to be able to handle 800bhp+ Always liked R's as a good base to make a very cool car, just think they made them too fat and lost sight a little bit of what makes a good drivers car, I know from driving them I feel massively more detached then when I'm in the 'Rado, struggle to get any real feedback through the wheel which is never good
-
Never said standard ones eat them for breakfast, there's not a great deal in it standard with the R32 coming out on top Mine though has no trouble 240ish BHP, 1500kg's, 4wd power losses 236BHP (before the Schrick and a few other bits), 1200kg's, 2WD power losses I've battered enough (including a mk5 on the Autobahn) to know there's really not a comparison Just winds me up that the R32 has some weird reputation for being an absolute weapon when in the grand scheme of things they aren't, I'd have one over something like an astra VXR all day long but for the R32 speed is not their forte. Think they should've made an R32R, like Renault did, lose the massive seats, headlight washers, fat heavy calipers etc etc and make a lightweight version, that would be cool. Slap an R36 bottom and on and a VF kit and it would destroy pretty much anything it came across

Just before I started stripping it to fit the Vortech I'd fitted 263 cams, AMD map, Simota Aero form induction kit, Decat with QTP exhaust bypass, Neuspeed pullies, Bonrath PR, and lots of cooling bits like Newsouth powergasket, DEI insulating tape on the inlet mani, mocal cooler etc...was lucky that it used to make good numbers Also had a Schrick VGI but that's not indicated in the figures in my signature as I only had it on for 4 months, bloody loved it though :) If I kept it NA then a LW flywheel and big bore TB was on the cards but I turned to the dark side and sacked half of it off for forced induction, probably regret it but time will tell
-
Having a VR head change. Thoughts on parts to change? ? ?

When I had my chains and clutch done I seriously regretted not popping in a lightweight flywheel when I had the chance, just a thought -
Another vote here for the sound of the 12v Two of my friends have R32's, one with induction and exhaust, other one without, both sound pretty pants IMO...don't mean to be offensive to anyone but that 12v burble/howl is beautiful, not a big fan of tinny raspiness In regards performance, mine eats the R32's up but I've thrown a fair amount of money at it obviously Driving them the R32's dual mass flywheel winds me up a bit, seems to go through the gears quick but when you look at the speedo you realise you're not going as quick as you thought, saying that though they weigh 300kg more then a Rado so hardly surprising, I'm sure the 3.2 in a C is an awesome combo

Thanks Kev, wealth of knowledge as always Nearly done with the installation then I can stop filling up your thread with my ramblings :)

Another quick question, I've done a search but couldn't find anything... I've had a look at the belts that came with my kit, I got two, apparently one is for A/C cars and a shorter one is for cars without A/C, For a start they both look like the have 7 ribs, secondly they're ribbed both sides? Is this correct? My mate has an OBD2 golf with a belt ribbed both sides, just concerned it will slip on the waterpump if I run it
-
Ah right maybe not then, maybe I'm getting a bit carried away with myself, my 8psi isn't exactly going to turn my VR6 into a Metro 6R4
-
I just love the sound of them when you feather the throttle through some corners and they're chirping away like mad, I blame it mainly on that old group B rally video link that someone posted up recently :) Admittedly stuff like beaten up Fiat Coupe's dumping though the window of a mcdonalds drive-thru don't help, or rusty old Impreza wagon's gunning it past bus stops full of kids
-
I'm terrible for it, I even make the little "schew" sound when I change gear in my girlfriends 1.4 pug 306, just to wind her up :) Thanks for that, I think I'll give Forge a ring to check how it runs with a VF kit
-
That's the one, It's designed to replace a recirc valve and still stay within maf parimeters, basically lets out just enough air to make a dumping sound, bit :camp: I know but it's a bit of fun On the plus side it has a winding mech on the top to adjust spring rate rather then having to buy a pack of springs to get the same result
-
That all makes sense, mines a 2006 stage 2 set-up so I'm guessing it's got to be the second version One more question, If I want to sound like a chav (which I do if I'm honest) can a swop my VF recirculating valve for a Forge splitter? Fancy the dump sound as I'm new to all this, no doubt I'll get bored of it :)
