  1. went and retrieved my plates from the police station today, the policeman was not happy, he'd thought he'd won... ha ha.. he made a smart arsed comment about next time he'd have to report it to the dvla for the miss use of private plate which i responded with '...but there wont be a next time officer they're show plates...?'
  2. there was/is a ver vr going for not alot of money atm in the for sale section and i've seen a few high mile vr6's with cloth going for 2k ish so i'm sure you'll find one if thats what your after
  3. cheers man, i was short of things to do at work today
  4. another vote for bjv here, it might be in the middle of nowhere but they come in significantly cheaper than pristine on the splits i had completely rebuilt there and the finish was superb, heard good things from a lot of people about them and with living 10 miles from pristine and when i was working in the car world i experianced some not 'particularly good service!'
  5. dam looks like someones gonna beat me to it! i'm looking for a super cheap valver atm for a mate ideally with shonky paint to turn a matt colour... wont be black though i honestly think its been over done by poeple who then stick 'rat stylz' crap all over it... a mate of mine sprayed his drift silvia in silver rattle cans with a black glass house... looked the dogs tbh! 8) and cost sod all, just go down to an automotive paint specialist and see if they have any uncollected orders they want shot of... bound to get some light or pastel colour you could add a matting agent to that you woudlnt need to worry about keeping it shiney... just an idea though! :D
  6. i bought an external hard disk for my PC a few weeks back*... and that has Porsche Design stamped on the side of it... but all it looks like is a silver box?!? *price & capacity being the deciding factor - not who designed it... frankly who forkin' cares??! i got one of them a lil while ago, was the cheapest cool looking 250gb drive available on offer from ebuyer at the time, looks nice but not to fussed about the porsche thing! erm not meaning be picky mate but after slating the handling/design you say you havent driven one... just try it! awesome machines! my frineds c4s isnt as quick as his old modded rs focus but its a simple understated beautifully built german coupe that's an iconic shape and can start conversations when you park it... not to far away from owning a new corrado at the time of release i'd imagine, as i car enthusiasts often ask about my C now and its almost a 20yr old design! o and back on topic just moved in to the new house and found we have a porsche designed 'frank' sink... i had to chuckle when i saw that! it is well made though
  7. Doesn't matter... I'll never drive anything french. Chimo! how was your long and winding trip? all car companies are cost sutting these days, i left the car design industry as i was sick of designing really cool functional parts only for them to be not approved for being a fraction of a euro cent too expensive or they just take your design and fuck it up... sorry ranting... point is all companys cost cut its nothing new either... i.e. small chrome to big black bumpers on a mk1... loads cheaper to produce and you sell the car for the same money like the audi steering wheel in a lambo  ... just take cost cutting as a way for car companys to survive! porsche taking over vw is a good thing in my book, very good business and marketing stratigies in the past few years although i doubt it'll help inject a youthful skip to the vw models step as the target market for a new porsche is even older than that of a golf gti.. and that old
  8. liking the wheels... got a good stance boing on 8) not as bad as the guy who had 10's or 11's on a lil while back
  9. ever since my spoiler failed at the start of the week my interior light stays on longer, anyone got any ideas cos it seems a little bit strange?
  10. erm not to throw a spanner in the works mate but you need mk4 golf platform / beetle steels as the mk5 golf has 5x 112 pattern and wont fit on your vr
  11. no problem mike, i've got the day off tomorrow so i'll get em out to you
  12. o and appologies to the people who have asked so far and i havent responded/sent stuff out to, if you let us know again i'll get down to the post office and send some out
  13. the whole lot cost me about £300 so it's a pretty cost effective upgrade... i'm sure the tarox stuff's good but isnt that about the same as it costs to upgrade to leon cupra r brembos?
  14. ok i've been asked a few questions on this so thought i'd put my own lil how to up here then its up to the mods if you wanna update the wiki bear in mind this is for fitting 312's behind 16x7" bbs RXII's.... rob this might help you :) You have to grind the callipers to get them to fit behind these wheels so i ground them down with a hand file as i couldnt find my angle grinder at the time, i had it clamped in a black and decker workmate and sat on it as well and just kept filing away with a coarse flat file for about an hour! (get a bigun it'll make it easier!) failing that if you have an angle grinder then take most of the material off with that and use a sanding pad to make it all smooth! the bolts seem impossible to find as they're not a standard size and they need to be in 12.9 high tensile steel, if you pm me i'll give you my address and i'll send you 4 as i managed to find a local fixings manufacturer that had an uncollected special order that i could take off their hands, didnt cost me much so i just send them out to people on here who need them, havent got anymore spacers left though so ur gonna have to either speak nicely to a friend in an engineering firm and get them to machine them for you or space out with washers (use stainless so it doesnt rust down there!)... i'll post up my drawing i issued to our machine shop for anyone who wants it when i'm at work tomorrow the choice of pads and discs is enormous but i went for the gsf brembo 312's and ebc greenstuff pads (spec late model mk3 vr6 as apparently the TT versions have wear sensors) mention club gti discount and you'll get 10% off You need the corrado conversion braided hose kit by goodridge or another manufacurer to enable a corrado length front hose (TT hoses are too long and dangerous!!) to be used with a TT bango fitting on the end. I will never use C&R enterprises ever again after the abismal service i recieved (this is not slander it is a factual report of my dealings - 10 weeks to get a full set, paid for when ordered by phone, called them after a week and they'd put it in the back orders book instead of orders, then i phoned them 2 weeks later, still no sign... then i gave up and 9 weeks from paying the money i recieved a set of mk2 golf 4 hose kit through the post, i was then asked to send the set back and they'd send a set out, i finally recieved the set through 10 weeks after paying the money, i sent them back at cost to myself and i then phoned to demand the money i'd spent on recorded post be reembursed, they seemed not to know a thing and didnt want to know) Brake fluid - halfords dot 5.1, £10 a litre or if you have a trade discount card (or know someone who does) its £3.50! 8) just to give you a quick guide (appologies if i over simplfy but i'll try and explain the best i can) 1 - remove wheel (17mm hex head) 2 - remove old brake hose from pipe fitting in wheel arch - its easiest to slice through the rubber pipe near the nut and use a socket over the hex fiting (cant remember the size off the top of my head) at the end of the hose to get it off whilst holding th nut on the pipe with a screwdriver 3 - plug pipe off or just fit new hose and set the fluid run out into a container (you'll have to bleed them anyway so losing a bit of fluids ok) 4 - remove brake disc screw, calliper slide blts (6mm allen maybe?) and carrier bolts (18mm hex head) and remove the lot 5 - remove 3 bolts (8 or 10mm hex heads) and remove the splash guard (you can jsut bend it out the way or replace with a corresponding vag 312 one but its not really necessary) *optional* when replacing all this replace your abs sensor with a gsf item (identical to the vag one) as they are notorious for going and easier to do when you have the whole lot off. removing the old one is a bastard and i ended up removing the bolts and using a punch banging the hell out of them till they came out. the hole will need cleaned up with emmery cloth but it will be a tight fit to refit (use new vag bolts) 6 - fit new discs over hubs and locate carriers with the two hub mounting holes 7 - using the new bolts fit a spring washer to each bolt first then fed through the carrier into the 6mm spacer then into the hub 8 - fit new pads in the calliper and fit to the carrier and fir the new brake hose 9 - trial fit wheel to ensure no scraping 10 - tigthen all bolts and screws 11 - bleed the system 12 - refit wheel 13 - away you go from this
  15. Nice find Yan, i love the nuggets... good idea about the suspension if you can survive at that altitude! :D what wheels have you got on there? ...and a beard. oi i'm currently sporting a beard and i find it very useful if i get peckish after lunch to retrive some of the food i missed
  16. theres a silver one with a carbon fibre blade thingy in my village, looks increadible, also if you look round one they really are just as well built as a normal audi, o and if anyone saw topgear... looks a lot more striking than the similarly priced 911 (and that was with hammonds custom wheels!)
  17. ahhhhhhhhh another motorway driver rant post... why is it as soon as people pass their test they forget that the right hand lanes are simply for overtaking, your 'allowed' to go 7- in the far left hand lane... o and personally i overtake cos i cant be arsed to wait for a middle finger or other pleasant gesture and then an exadurated slow move over into the next lane, i have my lights on always (not fogs) so theres no danger of not seeing me and always flash and indicate on the way toward the lane hogging 'special' people!
  18. My next decent car will probably be a 350Z, awesome cars, 300ish bhp, solid, predicatble handling and loads of room, decent build quality too for a jap motor, just dont get the orange leather as it ages and wears terribly! ... but i need a few more years to get the corrado to the car i want it to be first 8)
  19. ooo i feel opionated for once  woflsburg badges on C's... cock! porshche 'tat' on vw's i'm all for it as its very well made and if it fits then go for it, same as audi or bbs wheels IMO and the link between porsche and VW is somewhat more than tenuous if you look back over the years! ...although i do feel like pimping my microwave now i've seen an awesome porsche blender the other day
  20. Just got sent this by a mate, strangely addictive, a bit like scalextric! http://web.sega-europe.com/rally/tropic ... rSec=12327
  21. i'm a fan of the standard from grille as the debadged one reminds me of a guppy! beasides the monster front badge is one of the first things i noticed about it, very beastie boys
  22. sod off jon  you try seeing a black cable in the dark when your torch is running out! mucho funnio :D
  23. i dont understand... the speedlimits are the same how are you gonna ge tthere quicker  ...soudns good dude, should be very pokey with ttht lil fella on there!
  24. easily done, it was only a few bolts that needed tightening really this time, bar the one earth that was floating in space it was all attached, just not making contact! i remember fitting some coily's a while back and i thought... o bugger these new top mounts are shagged as the whole suspension assy could hinge in and out... then i relaised i forgot to tighten the lower strut-to-hub bolts  felt like a proper tit but i suppose it's all part of the fun!
  25. note to self... dont try and reassemble cars in the dark... its far to easy to miss things!
