Saturday: Clocked, built up and fitted a new IHI turbo charger. (IHI VF22 hot side, IHI VF34 cold side) On the way home from this years inters the old turbo blew its oil seals and shortly after destroyed its bearings which resulted in one jammed turbo, lots of smoke and oil dripping from the tail pipe, luckily i was only 19 miles from home. On closer inspection of the turbo last week it turns out that when Jabbasport did the conversion they did not fit an oil feed restrictor which is required on the ball bearing VF34 turbo to limit the pressure. No wonder it has always used so much oil. Spoke to Subaru who supplied more info about the correct oil restrictor banjo bolt. I changed the end of the braided oil feed line for an alloy banjo fitting (http://www.earls.co.uk) and fitted the Subaru oil restrictor banjo bolt. I also added an inline 25 micron alloy oil filter to the oil feed for good measure. Fitted new heat reflective pipe jackets to the turbo water and oil pipes while i had it all apart too. passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfold1.JPG[/attachment:2bnpys82] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfold2.JPG[/attachment:2bnpys82] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfold3.JPG[/attachment:2bnpys82] new.JPG[/attachment:2bnpys82] Sunday: I took the car to VAGfest everything working great. 4 runs up the strip. The new turbo seems to spool up sooner and the car now feels much smoother and responsive. Next... :salute:

Hand brake failure.....car head butted a tree
G60_Marc replied to harryc's topic in General Car Chat
I ALWAYS put the car in gear when parking up. A few months back i was sat in the car on a steep'ish hill with another car parked a few feet in front of me, i was waiting for my missus to come out of the co-op. The handbrake was on and the car was holding nicely. Without warning the handbrake released itself completely and the car started moving, needless to say it frightened the life out of me because at the time i had no idea what was going on, i was just was franticly stamping my feet around trying to hit the brake pedal  I managed to find the brake pedal just in time. My car had new rear pads, 2 new cables, cables adjusted up, all brakes bled correctly, calipers in good nick etc. As far as i can tell it must have been the handbrake lever itself that caused this to happen, worn ratchet mechanism maybe. Its on my list of things to do. Might install a lever mechanism out of a newish golf or something. Thank goodness i was in the car at the time! -
Polished my eibach strut brace up. FItted bonnet bra to my carbon bonnet, had to drill 3 tiny holes into the fibreglass frame to fix the bra hooks into. The reason for bra is that i had a incident on Monday with a square lump of rubber about the size of a fist bouncing up the fast lane of the M5. A car was on my tail and there were cars to the left so i could not take avoiding action. I collected it on the front lip of the bonnet whilst doing 70mph :censored: Bonnet survived but smashed the clear coat on the front edge. Do corrados attract bad luck or is it just me lol. Fitted some new number plates as the old ones had water and dirt inside them. Fitted some silver bulbs into my clear front indicators. Gave it a good clean, t-cut and a vac ready for the trip to inters tomorrow. Meeting up with Monkey (Dave) the previous owner at inters. :thumbleft: Next... :salute:

Fitted an eibach alloy front strut brace 8) Struggled and swore a few times taking off the nuts from my old brace. Ended up taking the front shocks off for better access. Fitted a pair of late front fogs (gleaming mint condition pair, cheers asdf) also fitted some sonar clear late indicators. I just need to get some tinted lamin-x for them all now to match the headlights and to protect them, they are a also a bit bling against the tined headlights. Fitted a vibratechnics gearbox mount. Cleaned and oiled my cone filters. Next... :salute:

Fitted some genuine VR6 front top mounts, bearings and top plates. Wired my audi LED needles to come on with the ignition. Fitted an audi red led ciggy lighter (cheers Supercharged Junkie) Fitted an Audi R8 oil filler cap. Replaced my smoked EL auto-gauge oil pressure, boost and volt gauges with smoked EL auto-gauge oil temp, oil pressure and boost (cheers Supercharged Junkie) My existing gauges only had a 45 degree sweep on the needles so were hard to read. The new ones have a 270 degree sweep. Next... :salute:

What ratio is your gearbox? i ask this as you say your still accelerating past 160. Is it a ctn ratio box? When i looked into fitting a ctn into mine the top speed calc with my wheels and tyres came to approx 172  At the moment my car will hit just shy of 160 mph then im at the rev limiter. I sort of diy calibrated my speedo using my tomtom and my gps phone with the speedo face and needle taken off then cruised at 80 on the tomtom and put the needle on at the 80mph position. :thumb right:

Kenny Bracks was a bute too

Another day another neighbour hits my car..!!
G60_Marc replied to C5 OEM's topic in General Car Chat
Im feeling your anger. My neighbour has reversed into my car twice in her merc estate. 1st time she dented the front drivers wing completely in and drove off, 2nd time she hit the rear bumper scuffing all the paint off and cracking all the paint on the top and again drove off. When i confronted her about the wing she said she didnt do it so I called the police who after looking at the damage on both cars and paint fragments proved that it was her. She then paid up £400 cash for a 2nd hand wing, paint and at the same time i had the bonnet sprayed and also the front bumper. Money for the rear bumper is still pending. A few weeks after the wing was fitted and and the front end was all sprayed and gleaming the local kids decided to ride bikes around and around the car catching the front bumper with their pedals and wheel nuts making a right mess of the paint on the bumper. One also fell onto the bonnet with his bike scratching it badly :censored: what can you do  Some other kids knocked my door and told me what had happened but wouldnt say who did it, plus they are all under 16. Im like you, no drive or garage at the moment and the kids use the car park as a football pitch/bike track/stone throwing arena/infact anything laying around tends to get thrown around. :bad-words: -

Yep vw stock all the parts as they are a common item used on many different vw's models. Paper gasket cost a few quid. End seal usually comes as a complete unit i belive and costs a fair bit. If i remember right i think you can also get a later version of the end plate that has does not have the paper gasket and uses a built in rubber gasket instead.
-
 yeah "knowing my luck" is something that applys to me too, quite often. I could also be the rubber crank seal itself and not the gasket. Good luck with tracking it down.
-
Depends how handy you are with the spanners. Took me a couple of hours to fix. If it is that seal it is located behind the flywheel which means you will need to take the gearbox out, remove the clutch from the flywheel and take the take the flywheel off the crank shaft. You should also replace all flywheel and clutch plate bolts with new ones. To give you some idea here is a pic of my seal all blown out. PIC Notice how the paper seal has blown past the plate. The engine only had 10k on it after full g-werks rebuild. I think the lad that owned the car breifly before me had over filled it with oil at some stage. I would investigate further tho, your 1st point of call would be the sump gasket/sump bolts and threads and then go from there.
-
It could be coming from the crank end seal behind the flywheel. Take the flywheel cover plates off and have a look for oil on the fly wheel.

Old pic from last June, one of my faves.

Fitted late style headlight glass to the headlights complete with brand new plastic surrounds and smoked lamin-x. (Many thanks StormchargedVR6) Removed eyebrow spoiler. Fitted my wideband gauge into the drivers side air vent. After owning the car for over two years i finally decided to scrape off the Nürburgring track sticker from the back of the car that was stuck on by the last owner. Polished up area where the sticker was with some t-cut. Next... :salute:

Dark Burgundy Pearl 16v Update: 16x8's all round.

Very nice, classic rims. I think that going to be my next move, Either 16 x 8 D90's or 16 x 8 RM splits. -
My old fluro orange painted corrado needles with a uv cold cathode lamp above... (soon for sale) Audi l.e.d. needles fitted. The needles are not as bright and glowing as the picture looks as i took the pic in low light and its the best my camera could manage :shaking: To fit these i had to cut the centre white illuminated ring of the ddi's out with a craft razor to allow the led's of belizeanguy's gauges to poke through. I also had to sand a little off the tip of the speedo needle as it was was touching the alloy bezel rings. All in all a tricky mod, 6 gauge faces, 6 pairs of cables, plus the cables for my jsb shift lights. I hope i never have to go into the clocks again!
-
how about some pics? 8) are them illuminated theirselves? which car did they come out of? Same as these here Ill post a few pics up when i get time.
-
Looked at all the dust on the car and decided i couldnt be bothered to clean it again, damn volcano  Fitted VR6 style carbon fibre bonnet. carbon on.jpg[/attachment:u4oluyvb] Removed my MTX Audio stealth shelf and Fusion component rear speakers (for sale soon) and fitted an orignal corrado black rear parcel shelf and shelf supports with pyle speakers in them. Fitted red led illuminated needles to the dash gauges. Many thanks to Chris for meeting me with the above items and a pair of bumpers neatly packed into a 2 door mk3 golf early on a Saturday morning at a motorway services. Top bloke. :thumb right: While i was at it i also fitted some brand new early style headlight glass to each light and re-bonded the black surround to the glass at the bottom using some strips of black stuff from my work that is near identical to the orginal vw black goop. Next... :salute:

Very nearly splashed out on a full vibratechnics engine mount set as there was a clunking and squeeking coming from under the car when on and off the throttle in 1st and 2nd gear. Turned out that the drivers side hub nut had somehow worked loose! a quick tweek with the torque wrench and all is good  Next... :salute:

Over the weekend i fitted some weitecs , my babys recaro seat :thumbleft: and removed my fk's  5 year old FK AK coilovers! the dampers inside were fine with no leaks. Picked up some early lights up on eBay for 99p, nearly brand new glass in both and reflectors/bodies/adjusters/surrounds are mint. Next... :salute:

My radiator is standard tho it has been set back to make room for the fmic so is running a spal slim fan connected to the highest setting on the rad switch. When on the move and in conjunction with my fmoc the oil temps never seem rise over 88 and the water temp barely registers. Gave it an 8 mile w.o.t. thrashing up the M50 yesterday afternoon vs an Audi A6 and she never even broke a sweat.

Fitted new top mounts on the front, repaired the power steering bracket for what seems like the :censored: ing 10th time  Next. :salute:
