Spent the afternoon out in the sunshine cleaning and polishing inside and out. Removed red and clear in-pro rear lights and fitted some original lights with a red top tint and a high gloss lacquered finish. Fitted some passat rear door handles and latches (cheers chiller1) and also fitted some genuine vw latch covers. Really happy with the end results and as a bonus the passat latches have child locks which will come in very handy when my little un is up front. Next. :salute:

Removed stock o2 sensor from de-cat pipe and fitted a bosch 4.2 wideband sensor in its place. Wired in wideband controller and gauge. Connected simulated narrowband output from controller to the ecu. Set co pot to roughly 14.7 at idle when the engine is warm. Glad to say that the car seems to be fueling perfectly. Next. :salute:

My c is the only car i own. I drive it daily to work and love every second of it. 6.30 a.m. = empty mid-wales A roads that are kept in top condition + cold air + front intercooler/oil cooler = :norty: I do hate the salt that's all over the roads at the moment here as the car is constantly looking dirty :| tho underneath everything is sealed up well so no worries there. I also have a 11 month old baby and he fits in the back a treat too and he loves to go shopping in the car on weekends. As soon as the engine starts he really happy and when ever we stop he instantly starts to cry. I luvs it. :grin:

Passed someone today near Brecon. Only caught a glimpse for a second, he flashed and i waved. Car looked metalic blue with chrome in-pro's headlights maybe.

Fitted some new front pads, Ferrodo DS. Gave everything related to front wheel area a good checking over, all tip top. Bled brakes. Fixed a small fuel pipe leak near the FPR. Next :salute:

Found this: GaugeCluster.jpg[/attachment:3myunkay] The gauge lighting is on pin 12 (grey wire) A switched +12v feed is on pin 13 (black wire) this is where my JSB shift light gets it +12v from.

I take it that you are going to remove the 3 bulbs that normally illuminate the front of the gauges. If so that will mean that the only other things that illuminate in the instrument cluster when the headlights are on are the LCD back lights. Do the following: 1: On the loom that connects to the instrument cluster find the wire that goes to pin 12. This is the +12v variable feed from the headlight switch dimmer to the cluster illumination. 2: Cut this wire a few inches from the instrument cluster plug. 3: Tape up (or better) the cut end coming from the cars loom. 4: Join the other cut end that goes to the instrument cluster plug to the black wire on the instrument cluster plug that is located on pin 13. The LCD's should then light up when the ignition is on. You said you got the cold cathode kit from maplins, is it an ultra violet one?

This is where i bought my tubes from http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Dual-12-UV-Co ... 4ce5e9d09a Since doing this i found out that the cold cathode uv tubes in their original protective plastic will sag in the middle and break the lamp inside due to the lack of ventilation. I had a spare so i very carefully removed the uv tube from it protective plastic tube using a junior hacksaw to chop off the ends. A nick needs to be made in the plastic of the gauge housing to allow the tube to poke out either end and the original dash bulbs need to be removed. I made my nicks at the same height as the tops of the original bulbs this allows the light from the tube to come through and flood the dash area with uv. make sure you remove the sheet of green light filter too. I fitted the the uv cathode so that the cables exit on the right hand side and the invertor box is located behind the headlights switch. You will have to be VERY careful when fitting the dash back in as the tube is now unprotected on the ends. Also i later found that i needed to insulate the metal frame of the dashboard to the left of the uv tube with gaffa tape to prevent the tube leaking voltage into the frame and into the stereo!

Quite a few engine bay fires in that post it would seem. Check the integrity of the engine bay fuel lines people! and if you running a 1.8T VRT etc. shield them from the heat. I carry a powder fire extinguisher in my boot after having a close call once when my turbos oil pipe burnt and started spraying the red hot turbo and manifold with oil. :eek:

Made some smooth mirrors. Fixed a problem with the radio and then got carried away and decided to removed all of the factory speaker wires as they are not used anymore. Then decided to rewire and tidy up all of my dash mods as it was like a snakes nest in there. Replaced doth door membranes. Next... :salute:

Yes it does, just dont leave it on there to long and get it all off. When i was 18 my boot lock on my mk1 golf was playing up so a mate said spray some wd40 in it, lock then worked mint, job done. After a drive the wd had started to leak out of the lock and down the paint work without me knowing. After a few days i noticed and it had made a right ol mess of my metalic paint.

My method: Warm the badge thoroughly with a hair dryer. Carefully use an old credit/bank/store card as a scraper to get underneath the badge. Use a fingernail to pull the badge away from the car as you do this. The adhesive should be warm and soft enough for the card to scrape through it. If any adhesive is left on the car get some "sticky stuff remover" and a soft cloth to rub off the adhesive. Alcohol is also good for this. Finish by using something like t-cut to polish the paint and blend in any clear coat/top coat imperfections.

Sometimes its like corrados know that they need some tlc and let you know. :lol: Friday, just as i was about to head off on a 50 miles round trip in the hammering rain my windscreen wipers finally gave up. They had been juddering all over the place for more than a year and i just kept putting off fixing them. On inspection today i found that all the linkage joints were dried up and full of dirt, as were the moving parts that the wiper arms connect to. Plus the extra pressure of the lupo wiper conversion so its no wonder the motor was having a struggle with it all. Stripped the motor down today and cleaned everything. The motor brushes were fine. Greased the gearbox and motor bearings. Cleaned the electrical connector and then put it all back together. Cleaned and greased all parts of the the linkage and found that under all of the dirt it was actually all in tip top condition. Fitted a new relay and a new fuse just for good measure. Adjusted motor rest position and fitted and adjusted the wiper arms. Wipers are perfect now :clap: as good as new, fast, smooth, quiet and no judder. Why did i put this off for so long! The late 80's VW slogan was... That advert always pops into my head whenever something breaks. Ive had many an incident over the years with boiling hot water and coolant, heater matrix, water pump, raditator fans etc. It's the one thing i hate the most. Good job you had some water handy! i always carry some water in the car from past experiences :thumbleft:

And then... yesterday the power steering pump bracket snapped in half and sheared off both bolts in the block. :censored: All fixed today. Needless to say, it wont snap again! :lol:

Good to see its taking shape fella, it should go well. I love giving it some boot through the Monmouth tunnel, and tunnels in Birmingham city center too when i visit my bro up there. Just cant help but wind the window down and put the toe down a tad. :grin:

Depending on the cars history i would keep the BBS wheels on for now and spend your money getting the mechanical things done. ie. service the charger, change the cam belt etc. It will be money well spent.

Autumn is now here and winter is on its way so i got a few things done that ive been putting off for ages. Fitted a new Gates cambelt kit. Got it from ebay for £14 best offer. here or here Fitted new ferrodo rear brake pads. (ebc greens fell to bits when i removed them!) Weatherproofed and black detailed rear in-pro lights. Put my original black detailed headlights back on. (thinking of selling the black angel eyes) Repaired rear number plate plinth. Removed and greased internals of interior heater fan motor. (was making a noise) Repaired noisy power steering belt. Adjusted sun roof. (wasn't sitting flush when closed letting air in at high speed) Changed oil. Checked tyre pressures. Wax oiled inside of all wheel arches. Tracked down and repaired leak in boot area. Water getting in behind the corrado badge. :clap: Started making some smoothed wing mirrors... :salute:
