  1. Todays completed jobs. Got busy with the angle grinder and mig welder and knocked up a short shift mod ready for when daves16v polished gear surround arrives. I used newer bushes and a spring taken from a low mileage gear selector. What a difference its made! My gearbox itself is brand new from vw and the short shift makes gear changes deadly accurate and really solid and clicky, unlike the old mechanism. With some careful grinding of the tunnel lip in front of the selector housing to get the pivot rod out, i managed to do the mod from inside the car. It was tricky cutting, grinding and welding the various parts but it was well worth it. Also fitted a little sun visor above the rear view mirror, from a passat i think, cheers ebay.
  2. Todays completed work. Fitted 2 new handbrake cables. Overhauled rear calipers. Fitted 2 new rear bearings. Fitted oil cooler. Relocated horns to behind bumber. Fitted a large flexi hose to feed cone filter cool air from brake duct. Tight fit  good job front mount is solid  Job dun :salute:
  3. An 8mm irwin visegrip damaged bolt remover should work. http://www.irwin.com/irwin/consumer/jhtml/browse.jhtml?catId=IrwinCat100511
  4. That was me, she was a bit dirty
  5. Nice read. My thoughts... For me my love for Corrado comes from my 1st car which was an 83 Mk1 golf gti 1.8 in lahasa metalic green, not a bad 1st car for an 18 yr old lad. Because of the many thefts of them in the 80's and the crazy insurance prices for them it'd had 1 owner for every year that it had been on the road because most people only kept them for a year and then got rid. Its fair to say that it had been given a good hammering in it's lifetime. If i remember correctly i was the 18th owner and she was on about 150k so the engine was nice and loose. It really went like the clappers, seeing off xr2's, xr3's, Novas etc that my mates had and it was so much more credible than the other hatches. The previous owner had fitted some larger wheels and wide tyres and a set of boge lowered and uprated shocks which made it sit nice and low and handle like a go kart. The car lasted about a year before the block gave up due to my enthusiastic driving. Looking at the simple mechanical layout of this car made me think hmm i can fix this up myself, which i did, rebore, rebuilt head, gearbox etc. the vw bug had grabbed me. And so, on to the Corrado... Many years later i got hold of my first Corrado purely by luck. It was a totaly standard white J plate G60 with bbs wheels, it was 16 years old, with 1 owner from new and a full vw service history. I saw it on the back of a breakers lorry in my town and rescued it from the crusher for the princely sum of £100 :) i was in love again. It had blown its charger and the speedo showed nearly 200,000 miles! I contacted the previous owner to see if he had the history and service books etc. Turns out that the owner was an elderly man who had never driven it hard, had always had the car serviced and mot'd at his local vw and used it just to go to the shops, visit relatives and to go caravaning with his wife, hence the mileage. He said that he had dropped it into 3rd to climb a hill with the caravan in tow and he heard a loud bang and clatter. Looked under the bonnet to see a nice hole in the top of the charger. He took it to vw to see what the ploblem was and vw gave him a rather hefty quote, so he decided to scrap it. I then spent many hours and many £'s getting it back on the road in good order, but sadly after 2 years of ownership i slid on a bend in the wet at low speed and flattend an iron bollard. Car was bent beyond repair, ooops! I now own the car in my sig, which again i have spent 1000's on and countless hours of graft and greif. Lately i have been toying with selling and getting an audi a4 because i now have a 6 month old baby, but at the moment i just cant bring myself to do it, i just keep on spending and loving it :) it really is a drivers car. For me driving a Corrado is like a drug, and repairing them is like some sort of car related obsessive compulsive disorder i dont know which one comes first for me. One thing i know is that when complete strangers of all ages come up to you in the street when you getting in or out and say "nice car mate" or "i allways wanted one of those" you know your driving something that is a little special.
  6. Shiny red charged rado in the maylords orchards car park in Hereford this afternoon. It sounded sweet and had some very clean LM rims. Had a very brief chat and then another car pulled up behind him so he had to go.

  8. 8v IHI VF34/22 Turbo (was G60)
  9. I have the very same problem. Wipers judder when raining no matter if its light or heavy rain and at all speeds incl stationary. Its a little strange because randomly when i put the wipers on they are totaly smooth and do not judder at all. My linkage does not seem to have a lot of play in it. Im going to check out the relay and wiper motor this week.
  10. Just had a little un myself. Took me a long time to find the perfect rado nipper carrier that we both liked. I went for a bebe confort streety travel system which is super compact, well built and quite snazzy. It fits neatly into my corrado`s boot from left to right along with a boot install of 3 fosgate amps and a sub box! theres even room for a shopping bag or two. Its suitable from birth up to about 4 years old. The pushchair can face both ways, pushchair reclines flat for sleeping in. Because its a travel system the car seat can mount onto the pushchair base for when little un is new born. Its really simple to fold and open and comes with a foot muff and rain cover and sun shade. Car seat fits ok into the corrado but the passenger will have to sit up a little and loose some leg space. rrp was £299 but i managed to pick up a brand new one on the bay in oxygen red for £79! video showing folding not a bad deal at kiddicare.com http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_363_10751_-1__59957_10001_
  11. Also a quick note, I have the power supply for my cold cathode tube wired up to a double throw switch so that i can switch between the UV tube being dimmed along with the DDi dials or on at full power all of the time (only when the head/side lights are on). This is a nice effect as it allows me to dim down the DDi's (which are sometimes a bit to bright for me at night) and not the UV. this way the the needles really stand out once the DDi's are dimmed and gives a nice UV purple sheen to the whole dial area when the DDi's are totally dimmed down :D
  12. I tried 3 hi output UV LEDs on my first attempt and the result was terrible. They simply don't flood the area with enough light.
  13. I did this to my ddi dials a few months ago and can vouch that the results are great. For my mod i used a cold cathode uv tube that is used for pc case lighting. The tube is really thin, is encased in a hard plastic case and has a cable on one end of it that goes to a 12v invertor (supplied in the kit). The tube is available in exactly the right length to fit inside the space where the 3 original dash bulbs fit and the lamp life is rated at 15,000 hours. The paint i used for the needles was some flourescent orange plasticote.
  14. Interested in how this was done as i bought a pair of in-pro blacks on here from **** and when they arrived they were sonars :censored:
  15. Did this myself only a few weeks ago. After doing some work in the engine bay i forgot to reconnect the fan. The next day i took the car out, parked outside my local shop with the engine running and BANG!!! a car full of hot water and coolant. I managed to do the work without taking the dash out as per the guide on here. The matrix i fitted came from a mk4 golf and was a valeo part. I picked it up on ebay for 99p and it only need a quick mod on the plastic pipes that poke into the engine bay. Good luck with it.
  16. No spare ecu, Dave must have sold it on. :( tho i did get the 16v fuel pump. A few things ive done so far, mainly cosmetic... G12+ coolant, oil, new battery, new front tyres, ebc green stuff all round, new headlights, new fog lights, new fk grill, new inpro red/crystal rears, new oem clear side indicators, new oem chrome rear vw badge, new ariel, stainless steel polished battery cover, chrome polished inside door handles, carbon fibre gauge pod in cubby hole, carbon fiber radiator cover, inxx bonnet lifter, alloy strut top caps, 10mm blue 4 core HT leads (from inters), new w5dpo's, new knock sensor, tidied up engine bay wires, new expansion tank, polished up all air intake pipes a little, new rockford fosgate ice install, mtx stealth shelf, extra battery in the boot for ice (split charge), 120 Amp alternator, installed greddy boost controller above steering wheel, new afr guage, altered timing (it was pinking really bad) added an extra exhaust hanger to stop flexi banging on steering rack, overhauled calipers, cleaned and undersealed inside all wheel arches, fixed rear number plate surround. Fixed quite a few faults, switches, electric mirrors, handbrake tunnel surround etc. lots more Next up is a new windscreen and gearbox, the one in it whines when off throttle. I have a nearly new (2000 miles) 02A AYN code box to go in for now, still pondering CTN tho. If you do decide to break engine up, ill take a few bits off you :norty:
  17. Im still here :D Ive been really busy with the car sorting out all the little things. Very sad news about your car chap :( i think Dave who built my car had the same manifold problem at one point.
  18. Hi guys, After having owned a white 91 corrado G60 for a while the charger gave out (on 200,000 miles, 1 owner from new, original charger!) and also a cyclist ran into the side of me denting the rear quarter panel. As it is high mileage and a bit tatty i decided to break her up for parts and a few weeks ago i bought this http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/459201.htm since owning it i have re-wired the engine bay, slapped on some red and clear rear in-pros, checked all engine sensors isv etc and i adjusted the timing to stop it pinking. It runs really well :norty: Plans for summer: 440cc injectors 16v fuel pump Upgrade fpr re-map Oil cooler Gearbox The gearbox in the car is standard and currently at 150,000 miles, problem is it whines a little under de-acceleration . I have recently bought a new 02A gearbox code ATN and am thinking of putting some CTN ratios into it so the car has longer legs, it needs them! Just looking for some advice and pointers to take this engine in the right direction
  19. Thanks very much for the fast reply :) Looks like a member has a fan for me too. Cheers.
  20. Hi, My water pump and radiator fan on my corrado g60 have both failed. I was wondering what other vw /audi fans and pumps would fit ? Thanks in advance.
