Mk2 gone. Finally found some footage of the car, 3m20s in. Not much but it better than nothing. I didnt get traction till the access road. The Evo was dman quick and was shooting massive flames. Just shows how slippy it was and that was before the oil was put down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rip9B10tlk

With the racelogic fitted and better pads it will be some track car. There was plenty of fast cars there but most were stripped out caged semi slick warriors that were eating me up on the corners. Im going to get some good pads and just swap them over when going to the track. Just sold the Mk2 and Mk4 goes on Thr. Pick up the Mk5 on Sunday, I cannot wait. Its one of the best standard cars Ive driven.

Few hundred motorway driving miles yesterday and it was 75-80deg. 2 laps on track and it was 100deg!!

Well I did my first trackday today with the Corrado. It started out wet and the car was ok but with the road tyres I run and conditions it was understeer city in the corners and wheelspin city on the straights. First time out an Evo conked out on the main straight and I was following a few cars thats all parted like a bomb had gone off trying to aviod the Evo. I was damn luck not to hit it. Came in to let the brakes cool for a while and managed to get another 6-7 laps when an Escort Cossy took a short cut, holed the sump and dumped his oil over the best bit of track. Took over an hour of the 4 to clean up so with this, the weather and the poor brake performance I left early to inspect my next daily runner car, a Mk5 Gti. Both the Mk4 and Mk2 are getting sold to help pay for it. For next time out Im changing pads at very least and probably discs. Red stuff pads are fine-ish on the roads but next to useless on the track TBH.

Short shifter, not side to side, shorter throw...
coullstar replied to Abdul's topic in Suppliers Forum
Is doesnt shorten the "throw", it just reduces the movement at the top of the shaft. I had a modified OE one that was probably halfway bewteen the standard and B&M one and was perfect. Saying that Ive got a B&M on on mine (I think) and its fine. -
Filling mine for the trackday on Sat.

Its probably not been done for a good reason.......

Im getting the same temps as you. They really do work effectively. Its take an age for mine to even start registering. I never really noticed until I started watching the Mk2 oil temp ad it rose very quickly.

Not necessarily. My Mk4 150Tdi has 144k on it and only issue Ive had was a punctured rad. It sailed the last MOT with no advisories and does 50-60mpg. Its also very petrol like for a diesel. Why a Bora? Out of them Id go with the 4mo, thats a good price.

Thats just stupid. Its not like the standard seats are crap on most cars so why would you spend that amount of money for some rare seats? In fact I think the standard seats are more comfortable than the Recaro's.

I sold my heated leathers ones for £650!!!!

Work hardening the surface is it not? Theres also ION nitriding.

Fook that, just stock pile VR boxe's. Ive just remembered reading an artilce a while back in Performance Bike where the guy has his R1 gearbox refurbed by this company who were using some process that strengthened the teeth. For the life of me I cannot remember what they did but Im sure it was like shot peening.

Lovely engine, lovely interior, lovely front end......not keen on rear end. Looks in good nick.

Loving this at the moment for a good driving song [youtube:24yszfj7]mx0UmlBDnYg[/youtube:24yszfj7]

They do pull more from low down but dont really tail of that much. Probably still as much as the 12v its just the 12v feels like it pull more at the top end because there is bugger all low down. If that makes sense. Ive seen a couple of remapped 4motions around 235 / 240bhp. Drive both and find out and dont factor mpg as both are as bad as each other.
-
02M it is then.
-
4mo for the money they cost. Theres a local one for sale, 5dr, 78kmiles, Indigo blue, remapped, Eibachs, R32 wheels, Milteck, Recaro leather 5dr in good nick for £3800ono. Very nice car and very tempting.
-
That sums it up. Ive had 2 4motions and 1 S3 and prefer the more door 4motion. Its practical, fairly quick, sounds good, 4wd is great and is understated. S3's are good cars though and more sporty. They both need decent suspension though and S3 needs a remap. 5dr high spec 4motion is the one Id go for. Not keen on the Bora's.

You must have a good running one then. Both my previous ones would not get much more than 30mpg, Av around 27mpg. Im still tempted to get another  since there so blimmin cheap these days. Switching from 50mpg to 27mpg would be a kick in the balls though.

If you accept is it not then their property so they will collect it from you?

We were at a works karting day earlier in the summer with a 40mile drive home on A-roads. The guy that left behind me had one of the green ones and I was just taking it easy so he blasted past. I soon caught up and he was going for it whilst I'll be honest I wasnt pushing that hard. After going past a couple of mobile camera's I slowed down. Saw the guy at work on the Monday and he said he was giving it bell ting and couldnt believe my old car could keep up. He wasnt happy when I told him I wasnt really pushing it :D . I still love new cars though and if I only had to run one car it would be something new.
