Swompy's Ice grey violet. Now gone to a new home
coullstar replied to Swompy's topic in Members Gallery
7hrs!! At least it should take you half the time when you get the Weitecs. Make sure you give them a good coat of some sort of grease when youve finished adjusting them. -
One side on but the cars still on stands so no pics. Im more wanting to get the exhaust on at the moment. Im 100% sure you will not have seen them on a VR Corrado as the guy said these were the first ever set they had done in 5x100pcd. There normally the Lancia 5x98, suppose its kind of cool having the only set on the world if that true.

They'll be the ones on a Gulf Mk1. http://www.clubgti.com/FORUM/showthread ... 035&page=3 8)

Falkens were £68 fitted each. The guy I use charges about £12 a wheel fitting. Should get the wheel on tonight but it will be dark so no photos.
-
Thats one of the main reasons I bought them. If anyone else does it I will hunt them down, slowly kill them then burn thier car  Im still not sure myself if they will suit the Corrado yet but like Ive said Im not really bothered.

heres what I used http://www.bilthamber.com/deoxgel.html

Did you go for 205 or 215 - if 205 the stretch is much less than i thought! 205's. Im pretty chuffed with the lack of stretch on them as well. Im was wanting to keep the car relatively sensible but Im so tempted to go all out and get a full cage in (matt black) and deck out the back as I never have anyone in the back.

You will only get rust of its down to metal. Basically you need to take it and an area around out back to bare metal, treat then repaint. Krust is not very good to be honest, I got some some stuff that you put on and leave overnight then wash off. It basically eats away the rust. I'll see if I can remember the name of it. You order it directly from the manuf. If its not removed properly it will come back and sometimes even if you think its all gone it can come back. Unless your a sprayer by trade it will never look quite right but if it not a show car I wouldnt worry.

Got the tyres on today, miminal stretch which is perfect. There is not a hope in hell these are getting sold anytime soon, I fecking love them.
-
Thats what i currently have but I was thinking of taking it off to save a bit of wear plus Ive always fancied trying a smaller wheel.
-
Dragging this up again to see if there is more input. I can see the attraction of a smaller wheel but surely not seeing the dials must be a PITA. Does this happen with 300mm or is 320mm the smallest to still see the dials (for a 6ftish person)?

What sort of mileage do you do? Ive had every Corrado and TBH unless your doing a huge amount of miles there will not be a big difference in running costs. In fact it will not be far off your current car. The VR does need would up as well to fly. Considering what the prices are at the moment and thinking about resale Id say a VR everytime.

Yes. Remember you are then saving on wear to your "summer" tyres. I bought mine as I prefer to make a decision when I can drive in the winter, not the weather. I ran winter tyres on my old Passat in August / Sept last year and there was no noticable difference to wear. We can debate all we like but believe me until you have tried them back to back with normal tyres you will not apprceiate the difference they make.

Compomotive TH2 8x17, 9.8kg.

Wow wasnt exepcting the good comments. Thought Id get the exhaust on today but the sleeve aI ordered and the spacing is all wrong. Middle section is way to long so Im going to have to get a section cut to length. Another week on the stands then :( . Tyres should be on start of next week. Went for Falken FK452's simply as they seem ok and Ive never tried them before. Did get the back section on to see what its like. Just what I wanted but I might cut it down to get ot flush with the hole on the bumper.
-
Nice, what did you use for the headlining as I wouldnt mind doing mine.
-
Shouldnt be a problem at all. Ive had 8in wide ET35 wheels on with no problems. The inner wall will sit further in with them than yours will.

Never ever tire of listening to those things. THE best noise to come from a car. Is it wrong I want an Ur that shoots 4ft flames on the overrun  -
I bleeted on about these around christmas time and Im glad others are seeing the good sense in getting them. There is no downside at all that I can see other than an initial investment. They simply allow you to drive as normal on snow and cold roads. I had a thread with a video showing the difference [Mod edit: now in 1st post of this thread]. Its the braking that Im most impressed with as we all know you can get caught out so being able to stop or manouvre quickly is when they come into there own. You only have to hope the guy behind has them fitted as well.
-
Bought new from Compo. Not cheap mind you. The original Integrale were Speedline wheels but many fit these. They make to your own spec, took about 7 weeks to come. Main thing is I have always liked them and I dont think there will be many sets about. Dying to get them fitted but too busy at work to even think about tyres or getting them on. Im taking some time out from work just to write this :(

Thanks, heres the photo that made my mind up.
-
If only... 8) Heres some photos. I think they will be a bit marmite but TBH I couldnt care less. Weight just under 10kg, not superlight but should be strong. Just need to decide what tyres to fit now.

Ive got a daily Golf but only really as I have car allowance from work and need a 5dr. This winter is the first time Ive ever taken a car of the road and only used in in decent weather. Must say it does get a right good seeing to when I do drive it though, thats what there built for.

All will be revealed. 8)
