  1. I think thats what Im going to do, has anyone actually done this on a standard exhaust yet? Ive a nearly new standard rear box and it looks spot on so dont want to go with an aftermarket rear box.
  2. Agree, they are perfect fitment. Some food for thought..
  3. I quite fancy doing a hi comp n/a car as well mind you but I really do miss that ski jump torque curve that you mentioned in earlier posts. Im glad my Racelogic is getting some abuse though!!!
  4. I should be careful what I type. Possibly, PM me with some info please.
  5. Is it original block and pistons and did Vince check them out during the conversion? Im itching to do my own conversion now.
  6. Nice, do you have standard suspension? Brakes fair okay? When I took my old car on track last year I used just over 3/4 of a tank and did 75miles!!!
  7. Looks like it came from factory. Very nice.
  8. Looks and sounds like a good example. I would get the wheels done in the original finish, it would look great against the dark blue.
  9. Im back running the Speedlines. This was in preparation for a trackday next month but decided to see if I could sell the BBS to fund some winter wheels and tyres for the Rocco. BBS sold last night so thats me sorted for winter, 18in winter tyres aint cheap!!! I did enquire about some 17in TH's but I have to keep reminding myself this is supposed to be a "budget" car, no big expenses. Did about 250miles at the weekend and decided to check the new plugs I fitted a few weeks back. There is a slight oil misting on No1 and No.6 so I'll need to check that out, maybe me just getting paraniod. Either way I think I'll just park it up for the winter and use it occasionally. Had plans to buy a P&P head + cams but Im going to keep an eye on the plugs for now and check everything out before thinking about spending any more money on this. We are coming into party season after all so Id best keep the coppers for that!!
  10. Ask the guy that did the MOT. Could be a CAT heat sheild or a section clamp or similar.
  11. I doubt that would fit, suspension turret intrusion was always the problem when I tired a few Mk4 airboxes in mine. I still think a 180deg intake pipe with correct heat sheilding will allow you to get it in the stock position.

I have to stop looking at that advert...its giving me some bad thoughts.
  13. Dont greet min, I was about £37 for the standard sump gasket from VW about 2 weeks ago for my baffled sump. Still fitted the bugger though.
  14. Yoko Parada's are quite a square tyre so they wont strech. If you really want strech then Flaken ZE912's seem to be good for that.
  15. Thought it looked familiar. It is a big looking lump but my B6 handled surprisingly well. Hope the fuel tank is bigger than the B6 otherwise you will be at the petrol station every other day!!
  16. Agree, its not an iconic car to anyone but us owners hence why we do keep spending money on them. I bet every other owner of a "older" car thinks along the same lines. Wish Id bought an Integrale a good few years back, almost bought one which would be about 50% higher now. I spend too much on cars and bikes but it is a hobby and something I enjoy. I have a nice newer car that I equally love buts its just not the same. Im a serial tinkerer but keep having to wind myself in with the new C as I think only near standard examples are what people will be looking for now. You wont get your money back on a C but keep it in good condition it will help when you come to sell.
  17. My old 24v had the same mount altered to make the engine appear level.
  18. Okay never checked it but I found some photos with a part number on it. Looks to be 0 280 218 017
  19. As soon as you eat a rowie, followed by a roll filled with tattie scone & black pudding washed down with some 12 year old malt for your breakfast. Then your a true scot. If you have a coat of arms then it probably means you were sympathetic to thon crown wearing southerners!!! I dont have any so we must have been some forgein interlopers at some point or scum of the earth and not worthy.
  20. May have one in the garage, it was from a Mk4 Golf 4mo.
  21. It is used to help pick up the dust particles IIRC but you musnt over oil as the mist created when air is inducted past effect the MAF sensor. TBH its probably best to do it over a certain mileage period say 15k miles but its like anything else depends on where you live really.
  22. I had a 115tdi a few years back that was quite tatty, I abused the hell out of that car and did nothing more than minimal servicing. I also didnt wash it properly over a whole winter but I had not one problem with it. These lower power Mk4 Tdi really do make sense as a winter hack now as there mega cheap. Its also very enjoyable taking something so abused and with some simple changes make it a lot better. You should not let the guy see it till your finished.
  23. I must admit I like my standard exhaust and airbox on my new car. I removed the intake "trumpet" which has produced a subtle noise. God Im getting too sensible!!! Time to buy a turbo kit I think!!
