Rotiforms then? They do look a tad wide at the front. I had a set of 8.5in ET42's for my Mk5 but they stuck out past the arch so they were never fitted.

Tried to fit new pads, wasnt happening so I took it for a blast to visit my folks. Quiet straight road, too tempting, managed to get it off the clock quite easily.... Fit pads and wax tomorrow and clean the driver seat of the brown stain.

Loving the stealth look. -
The pistons are all fully in. Ive done it rough and ready style for now. There seem good enough with the vernier so I'll just go out and find an empty bit of road and do a few hard stops.

Yeah that is my concern. Only one way to find out.

No, not unless you have a boring machine that can handle 15deg between banks. TBH OBDII 2.8's are probably better than the OBDI 2.9's. Would be good to see and hear this thing. We definitely need to get a Scottish meet this year. -
Yes guys I pushed the pistons back in, its not standard calipers I have. Its the Wilwood superlite 6 piston ones. They wont fit as is, I need to remove some of the pad material, I was just wondering if there was a way to do this that wont damage the pad. I suppose some rough sandpaper on a flat surface and rubbing the pads should work as well.

I was attempting to fit my new pads this morning and feared this might happen when I compared them to the old one. The new pads are too thick to sit in place of the old ones. They probably need 3-4mm taken of either pad to get them in. Is there an accepted practice on shaving brake pads and can I just use a bench grinder and take some material away?

He should get two broken legs as well. -
James, the previous owner, welded up the holes. Passed an MOT like that but he was an MOT'er so that might have helped. Ive already asked a few up here and it wont pass as they are.

Any pics of yours? Thats my dilemma. Do I cut a bumper (which is hard to get) or redrill the wings for the standard one. I might just try and get away with taping the original ones to the outside if the wing.

Still in two minds to fit some to mine.

Good work. Used these a few times at work a while ago but not to this sort of tolerance. One thing that I was never quite sure on was how this gets rid of the bore ovality as the legs of the tool are spring loaded. Surely all its doing is taking material away from all round the bore or is it down to the smaller OD pushing the tool in against the spring harder and thus taking more material away from that area? -
I do like them. My mate had a few 1.9's which were quick compared to my 8v Gti. There is a reason there quick though, they are very flimsy. I wouldnt like to have an accident in one.

Has the car passed an MOT with them on?

If you dont like getting body parts for the Corrado then I can only imagine it being worse for the Rallye. Ive picked some thing up from the Post Office to muck about with this weekend. Some indictaors and wiring to get set for MOT (its only a couple of months away  ). Some E30 brake ducts to give the fog intakes a go. Some new front pads to replace the EBChite red stuff, the warning on box says "material must not be used on public highways". Eh ok. Finally some Collinite wax and some good old G12+. I think I'll get the pads fitted and go put some miles on it tomorrow seeing as the rain will have washed away a lot of the salt. Some new tyres next week as well. I might also be buying some other wheels for it :cuckoo: .

Well Im going to try some Vredstein Ultrac Cento's. £90 fitted price. Will try two on the front to start with and if there any good get the other two. They look very similar to the Conti's and seem to get some decent wet results. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Vrede ... -Cento.htm

All the more strange with Todt in charge now.

Is there a noticable difference between the 215 and 205's? I dont care about looks.
-
11sec & 53sec in!!!

Oh and since Ive sold another set of wheels Im looking at the premium brands now. Conti 3's seem to be the best all rounder. Any other suggestions? Ive seen Kwikfit are doing some good deals but it looks like they are not adding on fitting, valves etc to the price so be wary.

Great vids. Until you see one of these things go full pelt round a corner you really have no idea what they can do. I dont watch F1 but I did go about 10years ago to Silverstone for the GP and I was simply astounded at the speed they went through the first corner. Probably the most impressive thing I have ever seen on 4 wheels by a long long way.

Im considering changing the tyres and going from 205 to 215/40/17's. I know tyre make etc has a lot to do with it but has anyone done this and noticed a better ride quality?
-
Just hack up one from a breaker.

I'll be honest this my favourite motor at the moment. They are getting some impressive figures out of these things with a few relatively minor changes. When you see some of these vids they dont seem too expensive. The cars in the vids have a remap and turbo back exhaust.
