Had to read that twice cos the first time I read "crow" as "cow"! Yeah, I'll give you that one.

Anyone else noticing loads recently? I know there are way more creatures around at this time of year but I don't think I've ever seen so many dead animals littering the roads. There's a big old deer on the A14. And today one of my clients ran over a pheasant whilst we were on a test drive! Still managed to sell them the car though.... Just as well....

:salute: Hats off to them I think. Now that's dedication. Regardless of your personal opinion on the end product.

I dont believe anyone on here has thier Corrado for "Retro" reasons, rairity yes, but more to the fact that Corrado's are a fun, involving drive, and look good. I have got an 08 plate Passat at the moment and a before that I had a Mondeo ST, which was one of the last ones in which I covered 15k miles. Both nice cars, but they do nothing for me in terms of excitment. I'll be honest I wouldnt want to use my C as a daily for a few reasons but the main one is comfort - bearing in mind I do well over 35,000 miles a year for work. The thing is I'd never get up early on a sunday morning to go for a blast in my works car, or a mk4... I just prefer older cars and mostly old dubs. I will admit you need a balance though so if your C does break down alot and you have a long boring/slow drive to work then a newer motor is obviously more attractive, but if you still want to have a car you can enjoy do you really want a bland wagon? If you used the money you'd spend buying a new car on a half decent C, replacing worn parts, giving it good and regular services and upgrading some weak parts then continued to look after properly, it'll serve you well. What do you get with a newer car that you actually need? Nothing, yes luxuarys are nice, but I'd rather have a car that excites me and gets me browsing a forum all about it!! I dont really think prices will pick up again, cetainly not for some time now anyway. Cars are a money pit, when you buy a car you should expect to lose on it, not many cars appreciate or hold there value. Much truth. The thing is I've done the whole buyin older cars and doing them up thing. To varying degrees of success. Ok, with the money I have saved up now I could get a decent VR6, but it would still need work. If not right now then in the near future. Whatever I buy I will still have nothing but love and respect for the Corrado. It's one of the best cars I've ever driven let alone owned. But I haven't bought another one. Something is stopping me. I have been trawling through the ads everywhere and although I still love the car Rado ownership just isn't grabbing me the way it used to. What you get with a newer car is just that, more newness and less oldness. And that does mean a lot. I can get a newer car and not have to worry about replacing worn bits, or getting paranoid about what is going to fall off next. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact that replacing the worn bits is fun in itself, but I've been there and done that about 4 times in the last 2 years. I don't know. I'm really not trying to get anyone else around to my way of thinking (I wouldn't wish that on anyone ). I'm just trying to describe why I personally am not looking to get another rado at the moment. I think there's just as much fun to be had in a mk4 golf as there is in a Rado with the added bonus of not having to worry so much about old car "quircks". It's just got to be the right mk4....
-
From a personal point of view, I'm not speaking for anyone else here, but I think the whole retro thing has had it's day. I've been thinking of what to get next ever since I sold my last Rado and I'd just rather have something a bit newer. I've been looking at mk2s, mostly all ragged to sh!t unless you want to pay silly money, I've looked at clippers, which are mostly rusty old sheds now. When I've got the spare cash/time to completely rebuild a car from the ground up I'll go for another rado. As it stands at the moment it's either gonna be wait until this time next year and get an early mk5 GTi or buy a mk4 V6 4mo now and do it up big style. Think I'm leaning towards the latter at the moment because I've seen some really inspiring mk4 stuff recently. Plus I'm bored of front wheel drive.
-
Yeah, the V6 4mos are awesome value for money. And it doesn't take much to get an R32 beater for less money. It would be worth it just to see the look on my girlfriend's face if I was to tell her I was spending 3 grands fitting a turbo to my car.... She hates all of my car ideas.
-
I must say I am surprised with the V5's apparent lack of performance on paper. My mk3 valver was quicker. Even if you look at power to weight. Mk3 16v is 129 bhp/ton and the V5 144. These figures are shamelessly lifted from Evo of course but 0-60 the mk3 is 0.3 seconds faster. How? The V5 has more overall power, more torque, and better power to weight. Yet it's slower.
-
Nice! :D What torque is it putting out?
-
I've been having this heated debate with a few people recently. I know someone with a V5 and they absolutely love it. They also drove the 18T when they were looking at golfs to buy and they thought it was rubbish. Yet loads of people really rate the turbo engine. But is that just the people who have modified it? I've driven the 2.0 GTi and didn't think it was all that great to be honest. Didn't feel very GTi to me. I think if I was going for a mk4 myself it would be a V6 4mo if I didn't have the money for an R32.... Which I don't.... Yet.... Well, not unless I want to take a chunk out of my house deposit. Which would result in me being dumped more than likely. But R32 aside none of the Mk4s really jump out at me. Anyway, what are your thoughts?

What a charitable man. Support your local pikeys! :salute: -
Too right! I once saw a Mk4 1.4 golf with a Halfords sourced V6 badge on the back. Why anyone would do that I have no idea.
-
Yeah dude, every Corrado was built at the Karmann factory in Osnabruck. I was just trying to wind up VR6. :D They all have a Karmann interior. None were built at Wolfsburg. People just take those Wolfsburg edition badges and stick them to Corrados. See it all the time. It's not a limited edition or anything like that. It's just a normal VR6 that someone has stuck a badge on.
-
Doesn't it come with the Karmann interior?
-
Well, I for one hope they keep falling. Not that I'm looking to buy another you understand....

My Plaything for the Weekend - Alfa 147
Sonicriot13 replied to Sonicriot13's topic in General Car Chat
I sold our 147 off our (Hyundai) forecourt. A lady came in to look at a Coupe and spotted the Alfa and said her boyfriend was looking for one. She called him up and told him about it. Literally 20 minutes later he pitched up, test drove it, and bought it. No haggling, nothing. Since buying it he's had the windows tinted, put new alloys on it and got a personal plate. And to think, my sales manager was just going to auction it. If it wasn't for me saying we should try and retail it it wouldn't have even been on the forecourt. Love it! :D -
That M5 sounds awesome but that bloke has a death wish!

I think your cheap shop help used to work for me. They helped me with my mk2 last year.... :D -
Need a van for work - what should I get?
Sonicriot13 replied to timmaaah's topic in General Car Chat
I took a Fiat Scudo in P/X at work last month (against a Hyundai Matrix of all things). We've still got it cos our odd job geezer loves it and refuses to let it go to auction. Seems like a nice van but it smokes like a b*stard despite it being relatively low mileage. -
The only Jag I've ever driven was an X-type turbo weasel. Had active suspension (apparently) but really wasn't a very nice car. I came away disappointed even though my expectations weren't that high to begin with. I'm sure I'd have fun in an XKR though....

'Lo  Welcome to the forum! -
850 notes, and it's a P reg. Not bad at all. Looks pretty straight in the pics. I had a mk3 but it was a valver. Loved it to pieces. I think they are under rated.
-
I've seen that! And one of them (Hammond I think) asks "did they fit the engine to the car or the car to the engine?" :D
-
Oh, only got freeview.... :(
-
It should do. It hasn't finished yet. Will start on Dave+1 at nine. Although I've never noticed Dave+1 before....
-
Just watched it! For about the 100th time! :D :D :D
