  1. Like the other dude said, red was pretty much the bottom of my shopping list when I was looking for a C, and I was looking for a long time. But this one came up and was so nice I had to have it. Since then the red has really grown on me! Now got a G60 badge on the front grill, and aero wipers but this is how it looked a few months back: Does anyone else have a problem with getting chocolate on their windscreen after fitting aero wipers or is it just me?
  2. I didn't really give a toss about cars until I passed my test at 28, then I became obsessed with them! I now know a pretty amazing amount of useless info, that I've just collected from being interested in the subject.
  3. Wow, this is absolutely terrible Andy. Hope you don't mind me pitching in my 2p; You did the right thing by getting the copy of the will - if your dad really DID leave everything to this woman, fair enough - it was his wishes (at the time) and you can walk away with your dignity. As far as responding to her nasty letter, it's good you told her some home truths but don't get into a slagging match - as soon as you mailed that letter she's got hard evidence to back up anything bad she says about you to any third party, sounds like she's good at twisting things to her benefit. Basically, find the truth out about the will, then walk away and never contact her again - people like her are vampires, she'll continue to suck the life out of you for as long as she can, and probably loves all this conflict and mud-slinging. Don't give her the satisfaction - keep your dignity and memories of your dad and stonewall her completely.
  4. Definitely sounds worth a punt! Thanks a lot dude.
  5. Excellent! I do think there's too much play in the boot, I'll grab one of those replacements, are they an easy fit?
  6. I initially thought so, but there's no play in any of it. I may have solved it, my drive out last night was pretty rattle-free. I rearranged the toolkit in the wheel well, and also buckled up the rear seatbelts, so it may have been either the upper seatbelt fixings or the toolkit, or just plain luck. We'll see if it reappears! Thanks for your help dudes.
  7. I've been in and wrapped all the toolkit in carpet, see if that helps, cheers Jim! I wouldn't mind, but I've just got the whole front of the car rattle-free!
  8. Just over the past week or so, there's been an increasingly loud rattling/squeaking coming from the back of the car. It's not the parcel shelf (removed it, no change) it doesn't seem to be any of the tailgate mechanisms, as I've had the trim panel off and wobbled everything and it's all solid it seems. The boot shuts tight with no play in it, what are the likely suspects? Even all the plastic trim round the back window is tight on, can't wiggle it with my fingers or anything? Please help before I go mental.
  9. So - the Amish guy tells you to use your mobile to call the cops and you actually do it? I would have laughed in his face, frankly. What a knob (the Amish guy, not you). Fair enough if you want to live an alternate lifestyle, go ahead, but it's fair to assume you'll get cars on roads in 2008.
  10. must be the cost of livin in south yorkshire  i'm skint cause i just spent my savins on a mk1 golf gti  Don't tempt me... I really want a mk1 gti as a project...
  11. This weekend I: * Washed it. * Fitted aero wipers - much nicer! * Fitted new heater blower motor. Annoyingly, it's louder than my old squeaky one! Makes a right racket, serves me right for buying GSF. Ordered a VAG one from the stealership today (£55!) * Fitted my new Autostyle mats with G60 embroidery - total sex! * Lubed my charger (ooer mrs) * Went on a rattle hunt. The end of my indicator stalk was rattling at a particular RPM, sticky felt on the back sorted that. Also put new sticky felt round the boot trim panel and discovered my parcel shelf isn't sitting snug into each end, so pushed it down by hand before closing the boot, another rattle sorted!
  12. Indeed it was! Took the gf's car out instead, when I came back the doors were working fine. Must have been bloody cold this morning! Panic over.
  13. Hi guys, new problem; came out to the car today and it was pretty iced up - opened the doors with only minimal resistance (didn't force them) - now they won't close! The driver's door now closes after I manually closed the catch and opened it again with the handle a few times, but the passenger side catch won't stay shut, if you see what I mean. Any ideas? Is it buggered?
  14. Put it down to experience and let it go! It's not ideal but the job's been done and sometimes you have to take your medicine so you're wiser in future. I know I have!
  15. I didn't learn to drive until I was 28 so I missed out on all the boy-racer stuff (I think). My G60 is a quick car, but I don't drive like a knob. I'm glad I didn't have it at 18 when I was trying to impress chicks.
  16. I had missing door membranes too! Only done the passenger side so far, used a rubble sack, gaffa it to the top then cut round with a sharp blade, then used sealant to stick it down then tape round all the edges. Pretty neat job, and there's no way anything's coming through that! Still got a leak tho... from somewhere... :(
  17. Well, I've checked the sunroof drain channels, all four drain quickly to the four corners of the car. So that's ruled out door membrane, sunroof and heater matrix so far. I took the rear door card off this weekend and drenched the car and it's not coming in from the window seal either as far as I can see. Boot is bone dry also. I'm a bit stumped?
  18. Ditto, I've got an SNS stage 5 chip (I believe) with my 68mm pulley and full powerflow exhaust. Runs like a dream!
  19. That has got to be my favourite Corrado colour! Nice purchase!
  20. OK put a nice new membrane on the passenger door last weekend, sealant and gaffa tape all round, but my rear passenger footwell is still wet. Next stop I suppose will be checking the sunroof drain channels - I don't know if it's a clue, but the water seems to be collecting on the ridge where your heels would be if you were sat in the back - there's a lip before it drops down into the footwell itself and this seems to be the wettest bit. How likely is it that the rear side window is leaking? Is this common?
  21. Cool, don't know if I'll tackle it myself but good to know it's not a major task (I've got a G60). Where did you get the cylinder from - VW?
  22. Is fitting the clutch slave cylinder a tricky job? I only ask because mine's on the way out!
  23. Took my passenger door to bits, fitted a new membrane made out of a rubble sack! Sealant all round, then gaffa tape, should sort my major leak into the passenger rear footwell hopefully! Interestingly, the water came through because some of the wrapping had come off a bundle of wires, which was touching the foam on the inside of the doorcard, which is (I assume) how water was getting in. Tight as a gnat's chuff now mind you! Then, I removed an old alarm LED/keyslot from my dashboard, taped up all the wires and stuffed them back in the dash, then replaced it with a nice new switch blank, looks much cleaner! Finally, fitted a G60 grille badge to the front of the car! Wouldn't clip on to my FK three-bar grille, so a little bit of superglue and it's on nice and firmly. No more of people asking me if it's a valver! Yay! Oh, and when I took it for a drive, my driver's side front indicator bulb went, so I replaced that too. :)
  24. Hi dude: http://www.yorkcollege.ac.uk/parttimecourses/ This is the only info they have on the car maintenance course: http://www.yorkcollege.ac.uk/web/lllcd. ... el_Level_3
